The editor who synced the lizard eating the crickets to the music at the beginning should be proud

On a positive note, they're alive and well in grassy areas 20 miles ENE of Lubbock, TX. In a 1.5 to 2 acre area, I've identified 8 different guys/gals just last week. They have a huge ant population to feed off of here.
I know this number doesn't speak for the entire species as a whole, I just wanted to let you guys know we really watch out for them here.

Might not want to advertise those location details on here! Crazy ppl might go bother them if they found out where... 😉
And I know, I know-you didn’t name the place specifically, I’m just saying how people get crazy. They see a comment or even just watch a video about a certain species, plant or animal, and somehow they find the location… and they run their mouths to others who come looking, and soon the habitat’s been trampled and destroyed. All because people will inevitably go searching for these herps, or whatever other plant or animal it is.

Actually the Desert Horned lizard in California should be legal to collect with a fishing license.

@levi9486 in Nevada you don't even need a license to collect them.

These are cool reptiles. We had them all of the time in Texas. I haven’t seen one in the wild in 30 years.

Why not feed them ants? Isn't that one of their primary food sou ces in nature? Ants are easy to raise as well.
I used to see them more near where I live, but haven't seen one in decades.

I have been hiking in the Southern California Santa Monica Mountains for more than 50 years. The past 20 years the Horny Toad started getting rare to see. I now have not seen any for at least 10 years. Very sad to see such a cute animal disappear

I wish they were easier to care for and raise… one of my dream reptiles to own and even breed. And this video just proves to me what I’ve been thinking-clearly, they could adapt to eating fruit flies, or other insects, and not strictly ants or termites, as in the wild.

I love these silly little creatures. And yes, were I was raised they were called, and still are, Horny Toads. As kids we had know idea there was a double meaning for that word. Anyway, they would set very still on red ant beds and lap up as many as they could. There is nothing cuter than a little baby Horney Toad. We don't see nearly as many as we used too.😢 They are fantastic little animals. If you find one treat it with love.😊

I have loved these lizards since I first found out about them when I was a kid. One of my first email addresses in the early 'oughts' had horny toad in it :)
I would love to own some land where they live to be able to basically own them wildly as pets lol.

They are still alive in South Texas.
I just rescued one from my pool today. He was in the skimmer basket and still alive.
I got him out and put him on the ground behind the pump house.
I see them all the time. They are very cool.

When I took a Cross Country trip to see my maternal grandfather, who had suffered a stroke, I fell in Love with the Horned Toads. I could catch them an tame them in the Trinidad CO, area, and after a day, they'd come to Me, because I fed them well, with regular ant's. I understand now, that With the infestation of fire ants, they're not as plentiful as They used to be, because the fire ants swarm and bite them until they are dead. Sadly, I live on the East Coast, and have No access to them, but I love Them irregardlessl

Fire Ants accidentally arrived into this country via ship from a warmer climate. They have caused the southern area of this nation nothing problems. I've had lots of first hand experience from them when i lived in Texas. Horned Toad on the other hand are precious. They symbolize longevity, and self reliance. The Navajo Indians revered them as they possess great spiritual power. I could go on and on and on. They are an endangered species and God help us all if they ever disappear. They are sacred. Read how they are able to squirt blood onto their enemies. God's creatures are truly magical and amazing!

    Look at those face diapers.
Try a plastic bag and duct tape. It work much better.
