@@glorysengo6289 Definitely not. Not because it was bad, it was the best of the soaps, but because they would destroy it today with woke crap. It ended with dignity and escaped a terrible fate that the others haven't.
Bev was my favorite character, I remember I wroye to her when I was a kid saying how much I loved her and she sebt me a signed photo back awww ive still got it
I'm absolutely devastated that the 'Brooksidefan' channel has been taken offline, I used to love watching all of the old Brookside episodes, especially the ones from 1996. I hate all of these stupid copyright rules!
Everyone agrees that the classic soap opera scene is when its too two feisty, gobby women going at each other verbally and physically. This dates back as far as 1960 when Ena and Elsie were fighting in black and white Corrie.
it would have been funnier and more dramatic had they been more physical, that's what let the scene down-it was too verbal but should have had them rolling on the ground.Look at Gail and Aileen in 2004 fight-they did it much better.
I loved Jackie Corkhill on Brookie she was brilliant. Fiercly protective of her family and always defending them. The episode where she threw out the guy who attacked her daughter was a powerful scene.
Having followed Brookside for several years every Saturday afternoon my wife and I were disappointed when the TV show was discontinued because like all soap operas, they have many separate interesting story lines, based the life of various individuals and families, which were educational for family viewing of all ages. Unfortunately, Saturday afternoon Omnibus edition was preferred than the evening episodes so no bout the weekly rating dropped below average to continue with the show.
Channel 4 kept changing the time and day schedule, as it was no longer on fixed prime time by moving it to Saturday afternoons. Whoever was in charge of channel 4 at the time just wanted rid.
Brookside kind of shot itself in the foot in its later years by blowing up everything every 5 minutes or when the writers got bored. By the time the eleventh thing burnt down or someone got beat up, nobody cared anymore.
I knew this was 1996 before I read the year! Bev's blouse was EVERYWHERE that summer also in lime green, they were always in the fashion spreads in Sugar and Bliss mags usually paired with hipsters or an a-line button up mini skirt, also in citrus, would hazard a guess hers was the Miss Selfridge one not the market stall one
I was a kid watching this and never picked up on how camp Jimmy was but now watching it as an adult I totally see it haha. I'm gay man myself so 0 homophobia here. Having said that, him and the actress who played Jackie had such great chemistry together you actually believed they were married as they were such a believable and natural couple. You actually forget they were acting because they just bounced each other so brilliantly on screen.
Sue Jenkins is from Liverpool. Just because her accent isn't the scouse you know doesn't mean she isn't. But I can assure you, she is Liverpool born and bred! Like me :)
Jackie and Jimmy were great then-loveable rogues who balanced both humour and drama brilliantly but in their later years, both characters were ruined. The writers lost all idea of how to write them and they were a duo-Jimmy just didn't work with her gone.
@@Onmysheet yes agreed, he was better when he was the lovable scally. In his later years they ruined him-the mental health story for him didn't work and Jackie's lesbian story was dreadful too and was really jump the shark moment for the show, even Sue Jenkins criticised that story and criticised the direction the show in its later years.
GBH? Bev's head is warped. All Jackie did was slap her one in the mush, and that melted Snowflake is moaning as if she had her cheek busted. She's lucky she's just got slapped. Jackie will protect her daughter even from someone who brags about a blouse worth 20 quid, but was less than that.
1:46 - "You cow. That cost me twenty quid". "Twenty quid? You were robbed, love. I've got better quality dusters!". Just like Coronation Street, the humour in Brookside was great. A shame that EastEnders never grasped that concept.
I had to LOL when Jackie told her she was robbed because she had better quality dusters!
Damn! I miss this show.
That was a magnificent piece of acting by all who took part in that scene I Loved it s the best of British drama appreciated all over the world
haha yeah ok...
I miss brookside it was a good soap and a show
Brookside always did the best fights.

"I paid 20 quid for this!!!"; "I'll have you for GBH!!!" -- I lived in UK in 1996 and I remember this scene -- I thought wow a rougher Eastenders!
Best soap ever
Are you a child? Only children come out with comments like that
Bev was my favorite character, I remember I wroye to her when I was a kid saying how much I loved her and she sebt me a signed photo back awww ive still got it
I wished I could get in touch with a few of the people who starred in Brookside
Loved bev

Yeah me too. It was great being able to watch all those episodes from the 90s. Sadly wont be able to anymore.
How many episodes did the channel have exactly?
Well Brookside Close channel has episodes from 1996.

Elsie and Bev was class
Thanks for uploading this :)
I've got better quality dusters! 👚😂
Best part 😂😂😂
''Don't you dare talk about my Josh like that.''
She hardly said anything about Josh, it was more her.
0:34 Bev's arms are folded, but in the next shot they aren't.
Calm down it’s just a show 😂
crazzi-j north So what and what do you mean calm down? He was just pointing it out.
You are joking? Just stay where you are I’ll call the police try and stay calm
I heard they could do that go from folded to straight happens quite quick apparently 🤣
"And what am I supposed to have done?" 🤣

When soap cat fights were actually good.
When seeing a dean face in the comments, it's actually good
WHEN SOAP 🧼 CAT 🐈 FIGHTS WERE ACTUALLY GOOD 👍 GLORY SENGO XXX 😘

My favourite soap for over a decade then all of a sudden it went crap and changed time. Someone high up didnt want it. Arseholes eh haha
Educational? the last 2 years of the soap was drug Lords, ra** and murders
Brookside kind of shot itself in the foot in its later years by blowing up everything every 5 minutes or when the writers got bored. By the time the eleventh thing burnt down or someone got beat up, nobody cared anymore.
This is the 90s version of Sheila Grant and Marie Jackson arguement
Bev was one of Brookside's greatest characters. "Ar eyyy, Ron!" "Me swede's cabbaged, Ron!* and a live chicken called Kiev living at Casa Bevron. 🤣🤣🤣
My best mate is Japanese and the spitting image of Bev.
I knew this was 1996 before I read the year! Bev mellowed later but this was When she was peak fishwife ....close second to Jackie 🤣🤣🤣
No one can have a slanging match like the Scousers, it's an inate talent! 😂
When Jimmy said no she bought the kipper not rhe plaice, I nearly peed myself laughing
like how they mentioned when jimmy and sinbad had done the same thing years before
What did that mean
I started watching when Bev came into it. But i was always scared of Jackie 🤣
She'd taken a whole heap of Jimmy's crap, robbing, drugs, other women, etc
Jimmy was camper than a row of tents 😂
Dean Sullivan is gay in real life. Not that that matters. I read that he was a teacher before he became an actor
I was a kid watching this and never picked up on how camp Jimmy was but now watching it as an adult I totally see it haha. I'm gay man myself so 0 homophobia here.

@DaveyC95 he's dead
The actress who played Jackie Corkhill is NOT a scouser.
so??
Sue Jenkins is from Liverpool. Just because her accent isn't the scouse you know doesn't mean she isn't. But I can assure you, she is Liverpool born and bred! Like me :)
+Jack Williams absolutely agree with you Jack :) my dad knows Sue personally. All my family are scousers.
Isn’t she? She sounded just like that on Corrie as Gloria Todd.
Would’ve been funny if Bev’s torn off sleeve had come away when Ron grabbed her by the arm to lead her back inside! 😝
LMMFAO 😹🤣😹🤣😹🤣😹🤣😹🤣
That Bev was an awful person though lol , no morals - just irritating and gobby
Jackie and Jimmy were great then-loveable rogues who balanced both humour and drama brilliantly but in their later years, both characters were ruined. The writers lost all idea of how to write them and they were a duo-Jimmy just didn't work with her gone.
When Jimmy's bipolar began he was never the same character again. He became a shadow of his former self, because of bad character development.

I’VE GOT BETTER QUALITY DUSTERS PMSL 🤣 GLORY SENGO.
😂😂😂😂😂 oh wow pmsl
Wish they bring it back it's so much better than eastenders and corrie
*I'VE GOT BETTER QUALITY DUSTERS!*

Jackie could have obliterated Bev's cheekbone if she really wanted to
Aye, aye, Sin!
Best soap.
Don't make like this no more, it's a shame it's all doom & gloom now
Favourite episode I think
Bev was a right opinated person
Just another day in scouseland.....
Ding ding ! Lol 😂
Mafia at your door step 😂😂😂
great video love her blouse
+sonic45325 Yeah it's almost as loud as her lol
Yeah it cost 20£
Loved Bev!!
mark1968 She acts like a loud mouthed chav.
Same
I’ll warp your hed in a minute 😂

EastEnders does have great humor-you just have to look for it more. It's more subtle.
Watch 80s Corrie-Jackie’s in it ( a character called Gloria Todd). And in later years, Sinbad was in it too.
This is one kind of a typical scene on a UK TV soap
Classic, the violent thug woman then cries loudest at end to twist perception of herself into the "victim".
wish they would bring back brookside
Bev is the chav of brookside lol.
2:50
But do you remember? oh.
I like the lady in the orange 🍊😍😋
sure this was shown on s4/c years ago
+wesley cracknell Yes, usually later in the evening after it was shown on Channel 4
thats what i thought
ya bunch of gangsters ha ha that was funny!
Aar eyy Sinbad!
Bev was overacting. The slap was nothing.
think it was supposed to be overacting though as it was for comical purposes too
She broke my cheek bone 😂😂😂😂
If only.......
Joseph and 😀 Today TV
"go ed"
I''ll have you for gbh lol
Reminds me of the cat fight Sheila Grant had with Marie Jackson in 84
