- Adam Savage unboxes and takes a look at two statues from The Mandalorian, courtesy of Gentle Giant. These detailed sculpts come just in time as Adam is working on his own beskar armor costume, and provide inspiration and pose reference that keep Adam in a Mando frame of mind. The Grogu figure is especially eye catching and will find its home among the other Grogu replicas in a growing collection in the cave!

Adam Dunno if Molotow liquid chrome paint pens are available in the US But they are the way to go Take the nib off and pour some And dab lightly FAST And repeat Or airbrush it at very low psi Again lol this crap dries fast Listen to me giving a seasoned pro tips!
Going by head size and eye separation is the simplest means of getting the scale.
If it was quarter-scale, Grogu's eyes would be one foot apart. So, no, it's surely a half-scale model.

Still patiently waiting for Adam to deliver on his promise of making his own custom lightsaber with all the machining and maker techniques he's acquired over the years. I had no idea. There is a universe in which movies have a literally material afterlife that is so vivid that it can even “beget” new movies! Watching your videos has profoundly changed the way I watch movies!
As much as I absolutely love Pedro Pascal in EVERYTHING he's done (yes, even Wonder Woman 1984), that swagger that Adam was talking about at the beginning here is about 90% Brendan Wayne. It's just something that runs in his family, obviously.
He only was used as a double for Pedro in episode 3 through 6.

Loved the 1:7 Scale Mando's Western style gun slinger pose, Totally agree the armor needs your painting skills for a nice metallic shine. Hope you'll either post a "how to" or show us the finished result when you get around to it.

Oh! I want Baby Yoda! He is so cute! The only one I have is a small plushie that I bought before any of the official ones were released. I made a couple of modifications and am relatively satisfied with my 6" little guy. ..but I want MORE!

McFarlane toys were to blame for myself and several friends getting into collecting figures in the '90s as well! Didn't stop there though. 🤓
They definitely had something to do with reinvigorating the community in those years. I've stopped collecting McF stuff as regularly as I used to, for various reasons, but I'll still give credit where it's due.

Adam, as a Parent I couldn’t relate more with Mando’s sighs every time Grogu wanted the ball haha.
I think 1:2 scale IS right. That's not the pilot's seat, it's one of the two passenger seats, which don't look very big in the pics I can find. They wouldn't even come all the way up an adult's back. And if that Grogu were scaled up by a factor of 3 (ie 27 times the volume) he's be *way* too big.
If i imagine that seat, back panel alone, at twice the width and height it would appear about right to me and yes, it says Co-pilot seat on the box. Sorry Adam.
I do like the sculpt on both figures but I'd have to do some better weathering on them. Particularly Mando.
I LOVE watching Adam's excitement when opening and seeing these kinds of things! HOWEVER, my ADHD brain CANNOT stop looking at the piece of styrofoam dangling on Mando's arm! LOL 😆
Yep, figures are a great reference, and setting up perspective scenes, like dancing Groot with real plants in the background. How many eyes looking this way via figures? um, 42 .

As much as I love Mr Adam, and tested…everytime I watch a ‘yeeeeah we got all this amazing cool stuff for free’ I die alittle inside…
I'd suggest the boot print was simply a result of the bolean operation in 3d software to ensure the best fit with the base and was probably more of the obvious consequence of having to do that.
I tend to agree. And it would have been thoughtful to reverse the pins and holes so that Mandalorian could stand on his own without the base.

Geez, I recall my McFarlane Witchblade w/Sterling silver detail. Its in storage somewhere. But the interesting thing was the story behind it: a truckload of them was stolen but without their paperwork ( I actually called Todd McFarlane studios and was informed this to their delay). So, w/o an official Authenticity Cert, not worth much. But yes, the detail was amazing for 20 years ago.
That armour is anything but premium. its jarring the difference of quality in it. They should have handpainted that with a metallic paint.
simply put, we collect them cause they are 3D pictures you can touch.
Hey im also working on a Mando beskar cosplay - Right now i only got the helmet 3d printed, so im working on sanding and priming before adding color. First time doing something like this so it really takes take :)

The Mando figure is amazing, but Grogu is exquisite in the details. Good lord.

Ok, I got 4:23 in and notice the Beskar armor is missing the Mudhorn signet on the right shoulder plate. D'oh! That would be a deal breaker for me to buy that version.

It would be nice if the sculptor had a clue about using a handgun dynamically. That Bergman inspired handgun is great, but my suspension of disbelief is jarred by the barrel being out of line with Mando's forearm. Totally screws up a gunfighter's proprioception.
Otherwise, a pretty nice piece.

I have the robots from "forbidden planet" and from the tv series lost in space.. my favorite robots..
Also Adam: his flight suit is supposed to be dark brown and that left knee pad isn't supposed to be a pouch but a dart launcher. Hot Toys made these same mistakes with their figures so far. I had to buy the knee launcher separately because it wasn't included for some reason, and the flight suit is grey. No idea.
In season one he doesn't have the knee dart launder on his left leg when he gets the new armor, so that is accurate. Season 2 he added it back on along with changing his right thigh plate.

For us Mando'ade around the world, just say beskar'gam (bes-kar-gam). It means iron skin, which is to say its the word for armor. It sounds better than beskar armor IMO, and if I can influence anyone at tested to speak Mando'a, i'd be absolutely elated lol

I've got to be honest... I really enjoyed your pandemic videos more than the more recent ones. They were more hands-on and less fandom. It would be great to have more tool/skill videos in the mix.
If you've watched the channel for any length of time, you would know there were always "fandom" videos, even before lockdown started last year. The best part is, you see the thumbnail and video title, so you don't have to watch it if it's not one of the tool/skill types you prefer.
