So you started taking care of yourself with diet and exercise and stopped being a lazy bumb? That's your secret? Who would've thought. Also, stop recording you so close to the camera. I can see your mocus every time, it's disgusting and annoying...
Dude, being in the loop of starting and stopping and not being perfect is extremely relatable to us. I don't want perfect. I want real. I can learn from real.
It's not something you can see visually, but the fact that your heart needed so much less effort to take your body through that workout, which means it was working so much more efficiently, is AMAZING! What a difference a year can make. Well done! Visual changes are, of course, wonderful and motivating. But for me personally, these moments when I catch myself breezing through something I struggled to do before make me proud of myself. Proud that through my hard work and persistence, I made my body stronger and healthier. Hell yes.
Hearing your summary of your experience at @00:03:57 of the back and forth weight loss and regain; I must admit that had become my opinion of your channel. I'm thrilled to hear that you've been consistent and extremely successful in the past year.
I always got the idea that they purposely didn’t care about regain after they make a video, because it allows them to make another transformation video which will do better on UA-cam than a video which is less transformational
Love the emphasis on the effects of exercise that aren’t just weight loss. I feel like society’s constant worry about weight makes challenges like these unsustainable. However, focusing on how exercise makes you feel is way more sustainable in the long run
yeah but couting the calories and making good decisions when it comes to food had a major difference in his results so I think diet is still the kew take away here

I started watching when the Steph curry shooting video came out, the content was good and has only improved since and projects like this where you take short form challenges and mix it into a longer 12mo project is really cool to see the micro and macro factors. I hope this video blows up to drive more subs and views so we can get more of this. I’m sure you’re inspiring millions who watch your content!
Probably the best, most helpful fitness video I have ever seen. The skinny/fat problem for average frame guys and girls is a tough one, but this is the answer. Gardening, walking, dancing, hiking or anything you enjoy that makes you move is one important element. Don't let boredom with gym work kill your motivation - this happened to me several times. Snacking is another temptation to snuff out, if you are serious about improving your health. Excellent video, you're pretty fly for a white guy.
Good job man! I have also been on a transformational journey! Last year decided to stop taking meds for anxiety depression, decided to train for a half marathon, during the process I lost about 30lbs.. I’m stronger and fitter than I’ve been my whole life! There’s been some ups and downs but I’ve kept plugging away! Life is about the journey, not the destination! 🎉
So the real secret is to just keep going, and find a way that it is fun. Seriously, you look genuinely happy. Awesome job, we need more influencer like you.
Spot on with how you said it felt embarrassing to fluctuate constantly. That’s also what I learned through this journey, to be consistent. You do something for 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months. It needs to be every day for long periods of time. Those habits and actions need to be instilled into you on a physiological level. It’s slow and dreadful sometimes but it’s about doing it everyday and being consistent and disciplined, no short cuts. Going to finish the rest of the video now I’m halfway through. Edit: fuck yeah Cam! Amazon job! It’s been awesome to see your journey. The ebs and flows is all apart of where we need to be. You guys even set me on the path for my own weight loss journey (264 to 180 as I’m writing this) so thank you for giving me the inspiration and introducing me to the challenge ideas and of Built with Science program! Still have a lot to go but I feel much similar to you Cam with the adjustments and overall feeling. Still trying to get rid of alot of fat and maybe return to my peak high school form of 170lbs (maybe less) but one day at a time. Amazing video and job!
Dope video! You definitely enjoy cardio a lot more than I do. Gotta say you look *way* leaner than ~24% body fat at the end. Makes me wonder about Dexa Scan validity.
I pretty much am a duplicate in both look and all metrics. I think it is a fair result and lines up with my own. Just think how good he will look when trimming of the next 10 - 15 lbs. Will almost be at visable abs
I've heard that Dexa includes visceral body fat (that stored in and around the organs) and typically reports notably higher than caliper testing which looks at subcutaneous fat (below the skin). The issue is that most of us have our "gauges" calibrated based upon the numbers from the caliper test method since it has been in use for so long. The Dexa is likely pretty accurate, but just simply includes fat that a caliper test cannot measure.
You're such an inspiration for me. Throughout the years I have been following you and your brother's content, and I am so happy for you. Thanks for giving me some hope!
I watched your Huberman routine video a few months ago. When this video popped up I didn't recognize you at first. Incredible transformation. You really look healthier, happier and more confident. Congrats.
Dude, congratulations!!!! Your transformation is incredible! I love how you did it from the inside out, too. Health all the way through. Looking super good, man.
I found this channel after the Stephen Curry video was released and I have enjoyed your videos ever since and previous videos I have seen as well. Keep up the good work and what great progress you have made this past year!!!
I think, implementing alternative workouts such as Yoga or walks are super important and many people underestimate them. They tackle other muscle groups, especially core muscles which are the base to safely do your "standard" workouts (e.g. lifting)
Thankyou for creating this video. I have struggled with doing gym on and off over the years and this is very motivational for me to get back to the gym and achieve great things. Would love to keep seeing your journey to see the progress at the end of year 2
Congratulations!I ’m on the same journey. I started on August 21, height 6'3", weight 244 lbs. Now I’m at 209 lbs. My routine includes diet, strength training, and cardio. Three times a week, I do a combined workout that lasts about 2 hours. This includes 20-25 minutes of bodyweight exercises (planks, squats, crunches, etc.), 50-55 minutes of full-body strength training, and then cardio - in winter, running on a treadmill for 20-40 minutes depending on how I feel, and in spring, running outdoors.
I am going through a Half Marathon prep right now. I'm on week 4 and just by staying consistent even when I do not want to go out and run, I've noticed my overall condition is miles better. Videos like yours truly motivate me. It is not easy but it is very rewarding
I really enjoy the Goal Guys content because it is just two average guys taking on fitness fads and trends, and showing what REAL results will look like. Amazing Cam you’re an inspiration! Can you do a vid on some meals you ate that weren’t boring and how much (if any) alcohol you drank and how you handled cravings and peer pressure to eat/ drink🙏
Congrats on the progress! Btw I think your bf level is rather in between 16-18%, 23,8% looks much different not that those numbers actually matter in the bigger picture.
Was thinking exactly the same! Thought he looked like my bf% now and I was measured today with a Tanita body composition analyzer and the bf% measured 16.8% so I think hes definitely between 15 and 20. Or I just somehow look extremely fat at 23%
Even the left side percentage seems off. I would expect a lot of overhanging fat, but in this picture its just a small muffin top. Tbh I would put the before one to 25ish percent while the right side 15-17ish because of the veins and ab definition.
@@roywitlox8269 Tanita underestimates BF% significantly. The only semi-accurate BIA method of measuring bodyfat is an inbody scan, but again inbody underestimates by about 5% on average.
