This is one of my FAVORITE Rick songs.. I remember playing that intro part on the piano when I was little and alone.... now I relate it to completely different!
I still have this album. It was my mothers. But in 1978 I was 4 years old and she was playing it. I fell in love with Hooky Joe. He has signed it twice and I am hoping for a 3rd time this Sept. at his show! I love this man!!!
Thank you *so* much for sharing this! I've been looking for this album for years after losing my vinyl copy which I bought when I was 14! I never heard that rumour before and bought this because I *loved* the singles - this was one of my favourite tracks...
I had all of Rick Springfield's albums from the 70's and 80's. He was my first love in music. I like the stuff from the 70's more than any other ones. This is one of my favorite songs. The Beginnings album is my favorite album by him.
My first and favorite of all his records thank for posting this one from that album. I used my baby sitting money to buy it in Aug, 1972 just after seeing him on Dick Clark's American Bandstand.
All the other so called artists can take a back seat or leave the stage now. The real poet and true artist has entered the room and has something to say that we all need to hear. I wish I had known back when I was 10 years old that this amazing guy was bringing it. I will never think of the overrated musicians of that time the same ever again. Rick you stayed true to yourself then and always have. I couldn't be prouder
This is actually the 5th best song on this fantastic LP. What's the best? "Mother Can You Carry Me", which is in my list of the 100 greatest recordings of the 70's. I cry everytime I hear it because it is that powerful.
Mother Can You Carry Me? ( far across the Sea) I love this Album in the early 70's the track 'I didnt mean to love You ' had some great guitar work I played this Album non stop as a young boy I also loved the second Album Comic Book Heroes as well..then Rick stayed in America and we didnt hear anything from him apart from seeing him in Magazines
@gracehopper1 I have uploaded a copy of The Ballad of Annie Goodbody from on of my LPs. Check it out. I also placed the remainder of the Beginnings album that I couldn't find. Songs like "Lead Me On", "Mother Can You Carry Me", "Come On Everybody", etc. Hope you enjoy.
Such an underrated album. Thanks for the wonderful post!
