Thanks for watching! - Наука та технологія
Watching this 6 years later, I'm struck by how much Norm has improved in his interview skills and comfort in being in front of a camera. I'm proud of him, I love how much he channels Adam Savage in his passion and enthusiasm. Good job Norm!
You can see how passionate both John and Norm were about this piece. Awesome!
I always wanted a Falcon like this in 1/58 - 1/60 scale so I could use it with 28mm miniatures...
I think just a blue thruster light panel and a few interior lights on the millenium falcon would be kinda cool.
The Franklin was a built before the enterprise, which is the first NX class. The Franklin just wasn't given a registry until the end of the xindi and romulan wars. Plus it was the first warp 4 ship in starfleet. Enterprise was the first warp 5.
I love the Milano. It must be gorgeous in person.
They should do the Death Star next with a cutaway of every floor.
LEGO did that...amazing detail.
That would be so cool, the Lego one like that is pretty cool
Love em! I especially think the bit about the reward being shoved away into a cubby hole awesome!
Amazing work, wow! Thanks for sharing it with us.
Wow that's cool as heck I always wondered what the inside layout was and where they all fit
Great interview Norm. Good questions and comments. Can't wait for more
The Millenium Falcon is actually very impressive now that I'm looking into the details of it! the turret design, cargo-system and cockpit placement... It makes so much more sense now!
Very cool model!!! And Norm's excited! :)
Shouldn't be there more room for the engines, like let's say most of the rear part of the ship ?
This is amazing I want that so bad!!!!
Very nice. This was posted 2 years ago so hopefully a model like the cutaway Falcon has been released.
Norm you are quickly becoming my favorite geek...Thx bro good job.
All star wars fans always wanted to know what the the Millennium Falcon looked inside. It's about time someone madeca cut away!
lol
Funny, I would've thought most Star Wars fans would've seen this, www.wired.com/images_blogs/autopia/2010/11/falcon.jpg already. It's been published numerous times in source books, art books, etc. since the mid-80s.
The point of my comment was, now fans can soon buy a cut away
Jayson Wertman What you said was, "All star wars fans always wanted to know what the the Millennium Falcon looked inside." [sic] Either you have no idea how to make a point or you're back-peddling. Which is it? Also, there _have_ been cut-away models of the Millennium Falcon in the past, not the least of which was the original Kenner toy.
If you look carefully you can se the hidden compartment where Han stored the space cocaine.
Spice
Okay, the spiced cocaine.
Making a joke makes me an idiot stewart?
Thanks for the apology : D
LOL!
would have liked to see more detail of the inside of the upper hull of that falcon model
Beautiful models. I really want the Falcon. :D
Every time someone does the interior of the Falcon, they get it wrong. The entrance to the gun turret is not a long tunnel, it is just off of the corridor. The cargo hold is not that far from the corridor to the cockpit. It is about half the distance that it was made there.
Besides the implausible lack of toilet, you're right about the gun turret being totally wrong. Why doesn't the gun turret have seats and a passage like Episode IV.
Even worse, when Han and Luke are in the turrets shooting down TIE fighters, they're basically sitting back to back with the floor level of the ship between them.
Gravity is actually flipped 90 degrees for the gunners.
Which makes perfect sense for a space ship, but good luck getting that concept across to anyone drawing it out on paper.
Bud The Cyborg .. I hope this model doesn't go to market as is. It clearly needs rework.
One of my favorite things about Star Citizen right now is that it's a sci-fi universe that is actually getting nearly every ship function concepted in a 3D simulation, something where everything has to be usable by players, and have reasonably similar logic from ship to ship (I know the project is a bit messy in many ways, but if nothing else it's probably going to be the most detailed work of science fiction ever made).
It's probably not practical for Lucasfilm to sit down and go into everything with that level of detail for Star Wars, actually they pretty much got rid of the Expanded Universe "because" it was so detailed, that's just not a practical fit for the medium of movie making.
To be fair to the model makers here, this is mostly consistent with other representations of the YT-1300 interior that I've seen, as others have mentioned it's really an impossible task to make "everything" make sense given how many different sets they incorporated into the ship in the movies.
I just decided that the impractical compartments at the front which can only be accessed from the mandible midline or somehow from forward hold are actually for smuggling and that's why they can't be easily accessed from the cockpit corridor or from the forward hold.
god i love tested
it would make a sweet frisbee
I love the cutaway Falcon! I want one!
That is so cool!
very impressive, well done
norm ol buddy thanx for that . and thanx dude who craftsman that brought detail to life on the old falcon . since i was 7 prob. younger, ive grown up with it and i stil love starwars and that Falcon
was always my kid dream to Cpt. that ship :) thanx guys . that was Suh-weet!
The Milano model is amazing.
Awesome stuff!!
Can't wait for Simone to join Adam! Sad her robots won't be shitty anymore, though!
When I first saw the Empire Strikes Back in the theater my friend commented on why there was a cockpit door on the Millennium Falcon. There wasnt one there before?
Found out years later that the reason there was a door that would stay closed all the time was that early on in the production somebody had the idea that the cockpit should spin as the Falcon was spinning around and doing all it stunts but they couldn't do that and have the hallway outside the cockpit turning so they came up with the idea of having a door. However, the special effects dept. concluded they couldn't build and shoot a Falcon with a spinning cockpit so it was abandoned but the footage with the door on the cockpit was already filmed.
one of the best falcons ever
Did anyone notice the whistle at 7:08? Negan is even trolling comic-con!!!
the uss franklin isn't really an nx class ship. it came before the nx-01 and you could call it an nx because nx usually refers to experimental ships like the NX-2000 later NCC-2000
I just realized that nothing was secured in the falcon... it must have been hell cleaning after every dog fight
Thanks for your awesome videos they have inspired me to make my own costume of kroenen from hellboy i am currently making the lenses for his mask.
Awesome.
this Adam savage guy is awesome
Wow!
Was that City of Stars playing in the background?
What ever happened to that one that Norm and Will were building from the magazine? Did the magazine stop coming?
^They do
Love Norm's t-shirt. Anyone know where I can get one?
What happened to the studio scale model kit Tested was working on? Been months since we've seen an update to that.
The Milano Replica - Will this be available to purchase in the near future?
Wait, didn't Bandai (and Lego if that counts) did half of that anyways?
I want this in VR. I want to walk around it and live in it.
As amazing is this looks it just occurred to me the Millennium Falcon has no toilet. And you know a Wookie lays a big dookie.
they just lower the ramp and drop one in flight
Luciforged epic reply! hilarious
A shit-bucket in the cockpit. Cut into the seat
There are two in the sleeping quarters.
"Wookie lays a big dookie", must be a five pounder! LOL 🤣
The falcon is the minivan of freighters, what are you going to transport in there? A few boxes?
i saw that lens flare lol. you guys have fun with this!
Jesus. I MUST have a Milano replica.
where was the toilet?
they use a bucket
+Eliseo Pena lol
It floats in the air
+Jaime F ah I should've tried that when I was in that spacecraft
don't you know they don't pee in the movies?
Must have the last one. # So bad ass
I like those models. Really want to ask will they make Normandy from Mass Effect, that will be awesome.
wheres the tube thing where lando was in empire strikes back when he was rescuing luke.
Imagine this as a stars wars dnd dungeon I don’t play but looks like it would be dope
Gotta get dat LOOT!
ou aaaa!!!!! excellent travaille
As an artist I've tried to figure out how the interior sets fit into the exterior building, house, or ship. They never do.
Examples;
1. Mash set/Interior set
2. All in the Family
3. Brady Bunch
Because of fans higher attention to detail than production team's attention to it, shows and movies today make sure the exterior/interior layouts fit!
I still have a 1996 cutaway of the falcon still in the box not put together
COOL!! I want the Falcon. @William Hayden, Yes Revell has reboxed the Fine Molds Falcon. I got mine from Amazon for $250.00. It says it is the Fine Models Model. Would also like to see the Star Trek and the Milano come out.
are ther any hq pictures of the inside of the ship
West End Games already printed the blueprints of the falcon way back in the 90s. Their layout was better than what WoTC did, and other copied.
I was trying to figure our where Han and Leia swapped spit in Empire Strikes Back.
Hawaiian Punch the front?
Thats that repair bay on the left side (looking forwards) of the main hangout/hold with the chess board.
Yes that is correct; the Hologame is in one corner of the squarish Main Hold to one's right and the Circuitry Bay is diametrically opposite in the farside left corner, left off the Main Corridor. In New Hope, when Luke was practising his lightsabre in the Main Hold under Kenobi's watchful eye, where Han sat at the Hyperdrive console would be on your left nearside corner the same side as the Circuitry Bay. I want a Millennium Falcon for real !!!! lol
Yay!!
Aaaaaand it's still not for sale. :(
Nice model but I wish someone would make a Falcon kit that was scaled to the film set blueprints. We all know the interior volume doesn't match the exterior dimensions but no one has done anything about it.
In real life the interior of the Millenium Falcon wouldn't be able to fit in a ship that small. They revealed this tidbit at Star Wars Celebration 16.
Jonas Nordin Just like the Jupiter 2
Yes, and the cockpit can't actually fit within the contours of the nose around it. The nose tapers, and the floor of the cockpit doesn't.
“in a ship THAT SMALL”: this implies that it could fit in a BIGGER scale ship and that they have just got the theoretical size wrong by underestimating it, right? What if you scaled it up another 50%?, speaking hypothetically of a fictional but potential ship. There must be a certain scale where it would all fit.
pluckyfella7 Yeah the exterior size isn't in scale with the interior size.
The ship is actually a TARDIS. Han Solo is really the First incarnation of the Doctor, from a long long time ago. Hyperspace? You mean the Time Vortex?
I hate the rear interior because a faster than light spacecraft like the falcon would require massive thrusters to fly through the atmospheres of planets as well as deep space. There should be some sort of major machinery back there, and I Don't care if the physics of Star Wars are completely contrary to reality. It should still look functional.
Exactly, an empty room with a grill at the back?? Doesn't look like it can fly in the speed of light.
Disney should make one of these as an Air BnB.
i want that milano...
Soooo... no engine room?
But the Falcon model doesn't have the 30 ft tall elevator that Lando used to rescue Luke in Empire!
Anyone know where norm's shirt is from?
where can i buy this, so i can build and paint it
what material is it made out of?
The sewerage was flushed through a strait pipe right out into space. If you came that way again, your poop could end up on your own windshield. This is why they liked to go where no man had gone before.
Why would you not incorporate the power connection into the stand mount? The power cable really takes away from the beautiful models.
They should run the power supply through the stand to do away with the ugly wire.
OMG!
Where can I buy one now
Where is the shuttle..?
It looks like they started with the bandai kit.
It's times like this where I wish I had an ant-man suit
Has anyone ever tried to bouild that Light Freighter in full scale by using 3D metal printing? Flyable ship i mean?
At 5:34, walking dead fans will hear something in the background. Lol
I don't like the Hyperdrive bay. I always got the impression that entire area was filled with engine?
Or, this could be prior to the Imperial Hyperdrive upgrade.
Dont listen to dogtired, he's a fucking idiot, this is their own concept, meaning it isnt canon
damn i almost wanna buy it even if its not star trek i want it
"Incredible Cross-Sections" FTW!!
Thing is sweet.
"NX class ship" NX is the designation for prototype ships in Star Trek not a ship class. i.e. NX-2000 Excelsior from ST Generations movie.
Where can we buy this model!!!!???
Can I buy one of these?
Has this been made available still pending? Bc I want one
Nope, never made it to production....
They build in physical so we can all watch it on the internet later.
i still want the milano...
I thought I was quick!
Beutiful models...
The Milano is breathtaking.
