My Mom is also 77 and I can’t get her to stream movies, much less come onto UA-cam. She had gone to the library and rented the movie Bohemian Rhapsody, and then told me she had an awesome new band for me to hear called Queen. I then bought her an Apple Box to stream, but she insists on getting her content from the library. 😂😂😂
Hey guys, the lyrics are: Well, you get down the fiddle and you get down the BOW. The bow (also know as a fiddlestick) is a slightly curved piece of resilient wood with taut horsehair strands; used in playing certain stringed instruments. Great reaction!
I just saw “Country Bumpkin” by Cal Smith being requested, I’ll double down on this request! Beautiful old time country song, the kind you guys love and this’ll be one of your favorites!
Not going to lie (Story time)... I was 8 years old one time and I remember my dad, who was a truck driver, picked up my sister and me, and we drove a cross country listening to this exact song... my dad wasn't in my life a lot due to some bad decisions, and he passed when I was 11... you brought me back 30 years... thank you for all the memories...
For another great country “Saturday” song check out Small Town Saturday Night by Hal Ketchum. Amber, being a small town country girl, should be especially drawn to it. For Toby Keith, check out Whiskey For My Men (Beer For My Horses) or I’ll Never Smoke Weed With Willie Again, about an afternoon he’d spent on Willie Nelson’s bus, HILARIOUS!!!
Hi Guys, thanks for the memories. I grew up in south Louisana, though I live in Florida now. I remember a lot of teenage nights listening to this on the jukebox at the B&B burger stand next to my old Jr. High School. All the Football players and cheerleaders would end up there after winning a big game. It was always a great atmosphere with a mix of genres playing through those speakers. Everything from Mel Mcdaniel and Kenny Rodgers to vintage Micheal Jackson, Def Leppard, and Journey. Felt like 1983 all over again. Another great song to check out sometime would be New Orleans Ladies by Larouxe. Keep up the great work. You guys are bringing a lot of folks joy in a time of difficulty.
There’s a Mel McDaniel song you have to listen to but you have to listen to 3 different versions. The song is Stand Up. It was recorded by Mel, The Kingsmen Quartet & The Band. All three versions are the same song but very different.
Stand up is also done by The Bama Band, on their 1985 solo album. The Bama Band is Hank Jr’s back up band, he let them cut an album of their own songs.
@@Georgia_Outlaw_Vinyl Yeah man, “Stand up” I had it on cassette when it was first released, I wore that tape out. The whole album is dynamite country outlaw, I mean it is Hank Jr’s band. Now remember it was 1985 so it’s that type of country outlaw. It would be well worth looking up on line to find it & listen to. In fact I just drug my copy out of mothballs & I’m cranking it now. It’s still relevant. Enjoy.
@@Georgia_Outlaw_Vinyl I just found on you tube, “The legendary Bama Band, 1985, singing “Stone cold country” that song is on the album I was telling you about. I can’t find the whole album yet, but that is one song off of it.
I was raised with that song in Louisiana and I would be bare footed dancin in the grass or porch as a little girl when my Momo would play that song. Good times! Glad ya'll got to appreciate it!
Gans Oklahoma's Cal Smith had the 1974 country music song of the year "Country Bumpkin'' it's one of the sweetest traditional country songs you will ever hear.
Saw another comment mentioning the group Kentucky Headhunters and gotta say they’re worth giving a listen to…..either “Dumas Walker” or “Walk softly on this heart of mine”
For somebody who is not into country music, I kind of like this. It get your foot tapping and it just makes your body move instantly. I thoroughly enjoyed that.
This song came out when I was a kid, and I've always loved it. I'm from Louisiana, so I love a good song with Louisiana in the title! Now, y'all need to react to my favorite The Oak Ridge Boys song, "Leaving Louisiana In The Broad Daylight."
Great pick!❤❤ If you want to do Toby Keith, start with “How Do You Like Me Now”; If you want to do a Carrie Underwood song, start with her first - “Jesus Take The Wheel”; Another Okie you haven’t done is Blake Shelton, start out with his first hit - “Austin”; can’t go wrong with any of these!!❤❤ Another artist you haven’t done is Roy Clark; not an Okie by birth, he was born in Virginia, but he lived in Tulsa for the last 40 or so years of his life; a premier guitarist, fiddler and banjo player. Hard to pick an opener for him, but I’ll go with his version of “Folsom Prison Blues”, kings of a comedic take on the Johnny Cash classic with some of his guitar tricks; the 1964 version from The Jimmy Dean Show in glorious black & white is a good intro!❤️❤️❤️❤️
Mel McDaniel was great, especially his earlier stuff such as this one. Another good one to check out from him is the title song of the same album, "I'm Countryfied".
Mel McDaniel had quite a few toe-tappers in his heyday, and any of them are worth a listen. Songs like 'Real Good Feel Good Song,' 'Big Ole Brew,' 'Stand Up,' 'Stand On It' and 'Let It Roll' (a cover of a Chuck Berry tune) are all worth a listen, and will definitely make you happy.
Lots of big ones (Not necessarily from Oklahoma) you've missed, Mark Chesnut, "Almost Goodby" "King of broken hearts", Allen Jackson, "Wanted", Here in the real world", "Just playing Possum", Reba Macintire," One promise too late", "How Blue", "Have I got a deal for you."

Mary Chapin Carpenter 's song Down At The twist And Shout reminds me of this. My favorite Mel song is Baby's Got Her Blue Jeans On.Tom T. Hall is listed as the writer and I don't think I have ever heard him sing it though.
You get down the Fiddle and you get down the bow. You play the fiddle with a bow. You have no idea how true this song is when you're raised up in real Cajun Country. My House as a kid.
