It's interesting to see that in Southern Thailand, dim sum is displayed raw, and steamed on the spot. In most other places, it's either pre-steamed and they come around in a trolley, or the steaming is done in the kitchen, after you have placed your order on an order chit.

Many of Thai people misunderstand that it's made with shellfish because hoi (หอย) in Thai language means shellfish but actually it is normally made with crab meat mix with pork meat and pork fat 🙂 One of the most favorite dishes of mine.
My husband and I occasionally go for dim sum at lunch and love it. We even learned to love chicken feet. LOL! Nam is such a good person and is a blessing to you. You and Wat are able to get away now and again because of her. Hope she has her own little family someday.

The white square Dim Sum that you liked was called Kanom Pakkard in Thai. It is made of rice flour and white radish (not coconut). The Hoi Jor that you also liked (and asked Wat) was made of crab and pork, but crab is expensive so it is mainly pork and a little or no crab.

It will be my first time there and we will be there for a month the first visit. We want to check out international schools for our 12 year old. I am expecting culture shock and a lot of adjustments. I don’t want to be naive in my expectations. What adjustments have been the most difficult for you? We love your family and can relate to the love you share. What a fun adventure you are on. It’s interesting seeing the different expressions of food choices, lots to pick from. Is your drivers family in the van too, I didn’t see them? That was smart getting a full time driver. Poor little Leon and drinking the soapy water. I immediately thought of when my little 3 year old G-son managed to eat bubbles one at a time and had bad cramps for the rest of the afternoon. Once the soap was out of his system he was good to go. A lesson well learned, I never heard that he ate the soapy bubbles again. LOL Your lovely little Lila is a quiet baby girl, she seems to be such an easy, content little thing. With two active boys I’m sure having a quiet, content third one is a real blessing. You are right Lilly, looking at what you have shared with us in the vlog it’s as though your life is a carefree, worry free life, but in reality, and you brought us all back to reality with your song, you have obstacle’s just like all of us humans have.
