Congratulations 🍾 I just graduated from the interior design institute last month. Legally registered my business and now working with a contractor that started following me since before I graduated. I’ve gotten all my projects so far from just renderings so don’t forget about that avenue as well. It’s a lot but I’m actually having a blast working on the business and setting up for an amazing 2021. Good luck 💖
Thanks so much!! And yes you’re very right - renderings are super important so have to have that technical muscle. Thanks for watching and best of luck with your projects too!! 🙌🏼
Congratulations! I am also on my way to graduation in IDI. I just want to ask how are we gonna represent ourselves as since we are receiving certification from IDI. I watched your vid about the difference between an interior designer and an interior decorator so I'm confused where we technically fall under. Are we certified interior designer or certified interior decorator? I am also planning to open my own interior design (or decorating) business after I graduate so I kinda need clarification onto how I present myself as. I am self studying the laws for spatial planning and I do more than just giving color themes and furnishing. Rather, I am confident of my space planning skills but I didn't have the "degree" in interior design. Thank you so much and good luck to all of us!
I just became a Certified Interior Decorator and your video has helped with some of the things I been worried about, like building a portfolio and getting clients.
I'd tell you as an experienced designer and architect. Everything is about AFFAIRS. You need affairs with Sales Assistants in Real Estate also with bigger developers.Other than that won't help you a lot OR you should invest a huge amount of MONEY in advertisement otherwise you stuck for years in one place with few orders in year. Been there. Don't do the mistakes I did.
thanks for sharing the tips sarah!, I graduated last week. I have not registered my company yet but I am looking forward to do so, this video is so educative. thanks soo much!!!
you really have to just google and find local wholesalers - after months of circling through retail store, I started to find wholesalers on my own through searches
Congratulations!! The principals of design can be used in a lot of different things and in life. Good luck! Sounds like someone I would hire. Great job.
Sarah Adnan of coarse! I remember how how hard it was in the beginning for me, stay with it and get lots of experience! 😁😁 LOL btw if u have a second come by my channel I make vlogs as well!! 😁😁
do you think the certificate from IDI is enough for firms to hire you? I’m currently thinking about taking the course but my main goal would be to work a day job then work for clients just as a sideline. thanks, great content btw!

How do you network to get wholesale prices on pieces, furniture or decorative items ?

@@SarahAdnan thank you
did you buy any of the advanced modules at idi? If so which ones?
I did the Sketchup advanced module, it's very beneficial if you don't already know how to use the software

you will have to do your own research depending on where you live and check what design firms require. Some require a 4 year degree and others don't.
Not just but gst😂😂😂
