Hey everyone quick correction. We say that this is a 4.4l BMW-sourced V8, which is true, but it is not exactly the same as the one in the normal Range Rover SV like James said. This is the S63 V8 (vs the N63 in the RR SV), which is similar to the one in the upcoming M5. In reality, doesn't feel like a huge difference, but an important distinction nonetheless. Thanks and have a lovely day!
Not true, sadly. I left both windows open on the hottest day of the year and nothing wandered in over night. There is a noticeable drop in insects from say 20+ years ago. I recently visited local beaches and a country park here too, somewhere I used to spend a lot of time in during the 90's, and it all looked lifeless. Sad.
Agreed that moving all Stereo & HVAC controls to the Infotainment screen is a mistake. I'm convinced the engineers only design and test it while the vehicle is parked so they can afford to take their attention off the road.
As an ex engineer at JLR, this definitely isn't true! its just a design lead company, the amount of time i'd see engineers arguing with designers over something that was dumb, but the designers always got their way as its a design lead firm, its just the compromise they choose to make there. IMO many of the vehicles are stunning though
@@TheJPHarvey I appreciate that insight. I had a feeling this was the reason. What stops the designers from having the foresight that these touch screen computer systems will not age well and will essentially render these vehicles useless in 10 years time?
@@DJAllOut The worst i remember before i left was some of the aero engineers aruging with designers over the new defenders aero, and the impact of having the full size spare wheel mounted to the rear door. But then again, it does look really cool imo (i know design is subjective). Unfortunately in engineering there are always trade offs, the end product just depends on what trade offs you want to take. I do agree about the screens though, all functions controlled through the screen in the new Range rovers. So stupid, physical controls for volume and climate controls should be a legal requirement imo!
I specifically got myself a my23 Range Rover sport which was with a dealer just so that I don’t have to use the touch screen for the climate controls atleast. Although it still has the huge touch screen. Something’s better than nothing I guess.
Great review and I really enjoy your guys' banter! A small thing, but thanks for leaving that few seconds of black screen near the end instead of letting the video end abruptly and change to next one. Gives me time to un-fullscreen it, pause it, thumbs up, and leave this comment.
The handling on this Range Rover SV and the New Defender OCTA Are incredible. It’s insane to see something so large handle better than most cars on the road. Land Rover’s special vehicles department has been making actually special vehicles lately.
The first review video where I'm only watching the epic countryside out of the window instead of viewing the car! Beautiful. PS I was listening honest guys!!
I like it. I know the is high chances of breaking down and all that however I still love it. It looks great, sounds great. One day is one day I will get that Rover. Just love the Damm thing.
Try getting one repaired. I took mine into a RR dealer and they managed to break front door lock….1 month later still no car. I finally got RR to take it back and got a DBX. For the rough stuff we bought a Rubicon jeep.

In terms of active suspension, it is almost 30yrs technology. The best example is Mercedes and its Active Body Control, then evolution to Magic Body Control using windshield camera to "see" the road, and now E-Active Body Control. The Panamera is using almost the same active part as MB.
The funniest running anecdote I have with my mechanic friend who hates these is that Land Rover might be the only company that realizes that a smaller car makes a Sports Car, henceforth " Range Rover *Sport* "
Does anyone understand the backwards lane markers? 10:05 It's obviously a UK thing, it just doesn't make any intuitive sense, which might also be a UK thing.
The first time I drove in the UK those overtake arrows completely confused me. I'm used to seeing "pass with care" followed by "no passing" in the US at the end of the run so when I finally realized it was telling me I needed to get back into the left lane "or else" it was revelatory.
03:35 this is what im like with my friends, defending myself against something by saying it was something else that is either equally as bad or actually worse 😅
Now that Land Rover has gone with the BMW engine I'm seriously considering this as a family/winter vehicle. I loved my Range Rovers sport and long wheel base versions. When I was a tech for JLR I had a few as an employee lease. But there wasn't much you could do to them when it came to tuning because of the super charged engine. Now that they are turbo charged, I may get one for the wife...but tinker with it before she gets it so she thinks that's how it comes stock.
