True! The good hybrids are more expensive per seed, but I have found many of the plants tend to yield more and hold up to disease better. So I only sow as many as I need, not one extra. 😂💚🌱
I’m so glad I found your channel!! I have been looking for a gardener from north Texas to follow. It’s so nice to get region or even city specific gardening advice and to know what works really well for others near me.
I’m not a fan of super hot peppers either. About as hot as I’ll grow is Habanero, and I just give them away. I like Cayenne to make red pepper flakes, and I grow a ton of Jalapeños for pickling and pepper sauce. I’ve got about 25’ of trellis and last year planted Kentucky Wonder, and got more beans that I knew what to do with. Gave away a bunch, and vacuum packed and froze about 15 pounds, then let a bunch go to seed to save for next year (this year). Looking forward to planting them again.
Try Rampicante squash from Baker Creek. It is prolific and squash bugs don't bother it. But it does need a trellis. If you like Black Cherry you should try Chocolate Cherry. I'm also trying the Persimmon tomato and the Thornburn's Terra Cotta. I adore the Brandywines!
Thank you so much for the recommendations! I do love growing different gourds here to resist those squash bugs, but I do need to try the rampicante! What is the flavor like? Tomatoes are such a joy!! 💚🍅🍅🍅🍅
I got an Israeli melon at a local farm stand and saved some seeds from it…have had great luck growing my own from those. They’re large but don’t seem to produce more than one or two melons per plant but are so worth it. You really don’t want more than you can eat fairly quickly as they’re thin skinned and don’t keep more than a few days.
Are you going to sell any starts again this year? I’m not sure if I’ll be able to start my own like normal, because this pregnancy has been a doozy. But I still want to plant!! Let me know if I can order a few from you 😉 my garden is definitely going to be smaller this year!
Love watching this. I give away seeds all the time. Grow Big

Johnny's seeds are SO EXPENSIVE for how little you get. I'm jealous 😂
