Let me put in my two cents on changing your major in college😭😭so I spent 8 years wanting to become a nurse. I become a CNA and started working at the hospital. I even chose a school for their Nursing program. After working at the hospital for 4 months, I thought this isn’t what I wanna do at all. One day a nurse asked me “why do you wanna become a nurse” and I said “because I want to help people” and she said “that’s it, literally any job you get working with the public can be considered helping people” and I went home and thought about it for dayssss. After looking back on all the things I’ve done in my life, I’ve realized, I find joy and happiness in doing creative things. So doing hair, painting, creating content, doing fun tiktoks, like all of that is fun for me and in a way, I feel like I’m helping people. Long story short I changed my major to communications and I absolutely love it. My goal is to be a social media influencer and work for ESPN.

On the not living together. Besides you two, Isi & Josh, a friend of mines sister did the same thing as y’all. Waited til she had a ring to establish when they’d move in together and if it’d even happen at the engaged stage or once they’re married; at first I was like y’all have been together for like 10 years, why wait? y’all already know you want to have a future together. But she said this one thing worded like “I’m not playing house with a boyfriend” & that has stuck with me to this day & changed my whole perspective for my future self/relationship. It made sense. As you two put into more perspective. Don’t play house, do the wifely/husbandly duties before a ring is established. Cause some people will definitely act like they already have it so why work toward more. It’s smart to me. And it also establishes boundaries. Yes getting to know how someone lives is great but I’m sure you’ll know how they live if you slept over a couple nights out the week & still went home until y’all hit that mark.

How do you have a conversation asking these intelligent questions without it seeming like an interview for the other person..I love asking intelligent questions and gaining knowledge but I try not to ask too many because I don't want the conversation to feel like an interview
I would say space out the questions. However, when two people are on the same page it flows naturally.
For the post grad question...do yourself a favor by joining as many organizations and clubs in your major as you can and attend conferences and events. There are so many opportunities at those events and conferences with industry leaders and recruiters ❤

I saved the wholeeee thing and didn’t even want to buy one of the books I needed for class (the rest I found free versions online so I saved a ton of $) but like that book was $130 & the last time I bought a book was freshman year for an Accounting class I never even finished! 😤 cause I did not like management as much as I thought lol wasted $200. I actually enjoyed this. Way to help the youngins that’s coming up. My parents generation didn’t know too much about financial literacy and credit. They were cash and carry people so they couldn’t teach me what they didn’t know. Thankfully I have an older brother

Post grad portion: only thing I find hard about doing the internships and stuff is the fact that for 1. Covid so a lot of us have to work full time 😭 but 2. Regardless of covid we gotta work full time to pay the bills so I almost feel like I don’t even have time for an internship as I’d like to. Cause some ask for 20+ hours. And while that’s doable don’t get my wrong..I just don’t know how it works when a lot of us need the money right now. However doing the events and info seshs are really helpful just gotta map out the time to attend if ya work 😅😅

I learnt I outgrew a friendships due to her selfish . When I spoke she wouldn't retain information when I would speak and I just didn't see us exploring together she was stuck in one place

Ok! So post grad I was employed with Starbies and kept that job until
I got to my current job in 3PL.
In my final semester I took an English class that was an internship class where we have had people who were interning and that alone was a great class. So I recommend that. Also like they said, career week / day is good sh*t. Also a good savings account that’s nice for student is Capitol One and I still have that account. Also look at the events that happen around your university and get involved, especially if you have an African American Studies club. I have more but I can’t remember rn but yea! Also I can’t choose teams soooo #Jisi
