Man, you did an awesome job on the boat. I had to do a similar thing to my boat 2 years ago but I had to sell my house in Laurel and the boat along with it. I plan to just spend the money and get a pro guide boat as soon as I decide to buy another house in the next few years. I need a bigger more stable boat because as you can probably tell by watching my channel I am a large mammal. I am looking forward to getting back on the water more constantly when all this covid shit is over. Your channel is doing awesome by the way great content and your channel is steadily growing my man. We gotta hook up and rip some lips later on in the year. Keep growing and thriving brother!
I hear you dude. Get what you want. That's been my motto with it. You'll be happier in the end. We'll definitely link up once this whole COVID thing is over. Even if it's in the fall lol. Stay safe out there man!!!
Nice build, just a heads up though, I used some harbor freight rivets and they have a steel mandrel. Had to drill them out and install full aluminum ones after a year due to the steel core rusting out.
@@BassBrothersFishingDMV lol that framing is like a million times better than what I did. 😂 Can't wait to see the finished product. That rod locker looks awesome too.
That’s some impressive shit. Pardon my French. Just curious but why did you go with 3/16 for the framing. Seems kind of overkill. Definitely not criticizing. Very impressive
Hey Mike. I used 1/16th, I might had said the wrong thing. The main deck is 1/8 and the supports are a combo of 1/8 and 1/16. I agree 3/16 would be some serious overkill.
Love the videos! getting ready to start a build with my son on his 14/48. just curious if you know roughly how much angle you used on front deck in feet? thanks for the awesome videos. very helpful.
Sorry just seeing this comment. Not sure how much angle I used but I'm sure it was at least 10 8ft pieces. Hopefully you got your build done for your son. The 1448 is an awesome size boat to be on.
Hey all of your videos are great and very informative and your build turned out awesome. I’m getting ready to start my conversion and was wondering if the sub floor is a necessity or if it is mostly cosmetic? It’s part laziness on my part and part a budget problem
It's a little of both cosmetic and functional. Cosmetic because it looks good but functional to keep stuff stored neatly and clean. Also having a sub floor helps with installing your battery in terms of locking it down. But you could build a small riser or something for that. Subfloor also gives you something to rivet supports into or anything else you may need to anchor to the floor of the boat. If funds are tight skip the subfloor and work around those things as best as possible.
In this boat no, but I did that on the 1436 build. It's not necessary as long as the flooring lays flush against the foam board. Doesn't hurt to do it regardless though.
Hey brother, I'm to the point in my mod to do the framing. I heard you say that you used 1/16" and 1/8" thickness angle. Is it 1" or 1-1/2" angle? I'm heading to Home Depot in the morning. I've got the vast majority of my wiring finished. I'll finish the rest after framing and decking.
@@BassBrothersFishingDMV No need for apologies, we're all busy people. I did use 1 1/2"! Due to the holidays, I stopped with the mods for the time being. All of the wiring is completed along with the rod tubes. All I have left is some framing, covering the framing, paint and hydro turfing the floors.
A 1448 Jon boat would be hard to unload from a truck bed without the conversions done. I would get a smaller boat like a 10' if you want to transport it that way.
Where did you buy your aluminum framing from? Iv seen tiny boat nation sells it and I know Lowe’s sells it but I don’t need that much for what I want to do. Just wondering and how much was it

Great videos man. I like how easy they are to listen to. No ego, no bs just plain this is how I'm doin it. I really appreciate that.
Thanks for the feedback. Appreciate it. Happy Holidays!!!
Great work brother! Thank you for sharing your efforts and wisdom!
No problem. Thanks for watching.
I appreciate you making these videos. I plan on doing the same to my boat in a few weeks.
Awesome
You honestly do a great job explaining the whys to what your doing.

Thanks Kade. Appreciate the support!!! 👍🏾💯🎣🐟
Shout out to you because I am now doing my boat with aluminum frames in mind (already bought the frames)
Sweet!! Good luck and have fun. 😃👍🏾🤙🏾
Great build sir!
Thanks
How many feet of aluminum did you use for front deck?
I watch your videos many times its going to help me out so much. I hope you catch some big ole Bass. NWG out

Funny I also picked up a 1448 job boat from watching sbfishingtv. Perfect boat

Metal Supercenter asks if wanting 6100 or 6300. Which do you get? Thanks.
Like your video, how much weight did you add to that jon boat? Thanks.
Use a miter box with good carbide blade for alum...easy and straight cuts
Hmmmm. Manual cuts????

Quick question, did you glue the insulation board down?
In this boat no, but I did that on the 1436 build. It's not necessary as long as the flooring lays flush against the foam board. Doesn't hurt to do it regardless though.
Would 1/16 x 1 1/2 be ok to use for the main deck?
Sure that would be ideal from a weight perspective. Just make sure you add supports wherever needed.
Why do you have the sheet and insulation. Is it necessary? What kind of insulation is it?
The foam is there mainly to help the boat float if you ever had an emergency situation. It's tye pink foam sheet from home depot

Hey Steve. Sorry I'm just seeing your comment. Hopefully you used 1 - 1/2" angle.

What size angle did you use for the vertical supports?
1 1/2" x 1 1/2" 1/8th thickness. You could go 1/16" inch though to save on weight.
Would a jon boat with a aluminum deck like this make it too heavy to unload from a truck bed?
A 1448 Jon boat would be hard to unload from a truck bed without the conversions done. I would get a smaller boat like a 10' if you want to transport it that way.
@@BassBrothersFishingDMV lol I should've clarified. Was looking at a 1240 or something similar
Nice build and video is well done!
@@jimb6683 thanks
maxwell that still might be tough. Check the stats on the weight first. Also, you need a pretty big flatbed for a 12 footer.
Where did you buy your aluminum framing from? Iv seen tiny boat nation sells it and I know Lowe’s sells it but I don’t need that much for what I want to do. Just wondering and how much was it
Lowes and Home depot charge to much. Find a Metal supplier if you can. I used Metal Supermarket. They charged more than 50% less than HD or Lows.
@@BassBrothersFishingDMV thanks a lot for that! I will check them out! Keep up the awesome videos!

Where did you purchase the aluminum angle
From a metal shop called Metal Supermarkets. Much cheaper than HD and Lowes.
Cant find the next video after this part 2 .
A small battery powered band-saw would be the best for cutting that angle
You're so right. I have one now and used it on the Alumacraft 1232 build. Awesome tool
where did you get that aluminum and what is it called??
Metal Supermarkets. Call them for the best prices. Don't order online.
How did you mount the angle to floor?
I just created a L bracket using a piece of angled aluminum. Riveted it together the to the floor
@@BassBrothersFishingDMV okay, appreciate the response. Just found your channel, I love i5 and subscribed.

Coming along
Thanks Bud. Can't wait to get it out on the water. You been out lately? Some of the ramps near me are closed.
What is the total frame weight? Just the frame.
Not sure but with aluminum being so light weight, she rides great on the water.
And not even one drop of blood with that sharp aluminum lol
Man. This job definitely came with its share of cuts and bruises.
Where’s part 3 brother?
Got another boat conversion video dropping soon. Things are really shaping up nicely.
A lot of people like Harbor Freight. I by very little there. Low quality and a lot of headaches.
I agree. Be selective when shopping at harbor freight.
All dust is toxic to the lungs.
What size rivets are you using?
90% of the rivets I used were 1/8th Medium or long. Mostly medium though. Other than that I used a few 3/16th ones as well here and there.
