Gloves come in a variety of sizes so why have bike grips been almost all the same diameter? Hope the mud misses your eyes! Ride ride ride!
Yes, it makes sense, shame few brands have different grip sizes, probably don't due to time and money. Having different grips means making sure to put right size on the bike, and cost of different grips i guess, they probably get a deal on same grip size, color, and huge order. Yes they save money bike gets slightly cheaper but many consumers have to swap grips
I have a Giant with the Yamaha motor... I cannot understand all the hipe with Shimano and Bosch compared to the Yamaha, it is really silent and has more sensors, I love it...
Bosch is no way near as rattly, but it still makes noise. More of a clunk on big impacts. Shimano rattles on most descents and minor roots (as demonstrated in this vid).
@@RobRidesEMTB ok :) I was just comparing it to your older video (2021 FOCUS JAM2 REVIEW - A Trail Ripper!). Would you say that this 7 series is better than the old 6 series? Since they both are available for 2022.
I just can't justify a bike at that price point that has a rattley drivetrain. I hate seeing all of these cool bikes with that motor. My home built TSDZ2 Cannondale doesn't rattle, so a big driver in getting my Levo was the lack of motor rattle.
Not a fan of this bulky motor section, which is caused by the bigger 720wh battery. These 700+ wh batteries are problematic, frames don't look aesthetic anymore, also a problem on bikes from other brands 😐 And why is the top version heavier than the entry level version (~0.5kg), because of the suspension elements?
I don't think it's the battery that caused that bulky look. It's just the way Focus designed that motor section. I say that because if you look for example, at the 2022 Haibike AllMtn 4, you wouldn't believe that it's got one of these huge 750Wh batteries too. The whole bike looks svelte and elegant, and the motor section is very sleek and very beautifully sculpted. Focus deliberately made the Jam² look the way it does on purpose.
@@chillout1109 In this case it seems to be caused by the battery, because they added a charging port to it and it looks relatively flat, which makes it even longer, because the battery cells need their space: ua-cam.com/video/BpMdLnsDGQ0/v-deo.html Seems, they got inspired by the turbo levo gen 2 battery, which was also removable through the bottom

Now it's just another bulky e bike with a ridiculous battery that you must always carry with you no matter the trip you are fancy doing. When it comes to eMTB design, I pretty much have permanent blinkers over my eyes. Any eMTB with this kind of high mounted rear shock doesn't do it for me. I'm more about overall aesthetics than whatever engineering and performance argument that the manufacturer may try to dazzle customers with. Give me a Bulls Sonic EVO AM any time. Can I get a good electric mtb for about £3000…? I’m now 50 and won’t be going down hills like this ,,, but definitely want something that gets me up the hills .
Like that Focus, uses alloy & not fragile rider weight-limiting carbon. Would like to see a lighter(power-conserving) battery. Say about thirty percent lighter than current 720 watt battery. And definitely a replacement for those dangerous, environmental unfriendly Li-Ion batts. Have had two Li-Ion bike batts leak and melt, during the 2021-2022 Winter. Very unpredictable safety. Sodium & Hemp, are much safer and give a rechargeable battery a longer life, cheaper price, and longer-lasting charge. But unions, mining and corporate greed, won't make a safer alternative for probably another two decades. As slow as the U.S. space program.
Nice colour average bike battery to low would get smashed 1st time out if there's any rocks why are manufacturers trying to squeeze in 720 battery's better to have a 500 with a 250 water bottle battery so much lighter on normal rides battery in bag 4 long rides +have they sorted shimano load sensor problems yet ?
I agree about the batteries. A 504wh hour battery will give a 3 to 4 hour ride on most trails if you keep boost to a minimum, and just use a bolt on extender or 2nd battery for bigger days, The EP8 motor does not suffer with the load sensor error codes at all, and the rattle that everyone keeps going on about is one of the noises you notice the least when you're banging down the trails🤘
Recently, the company has released a new model called "Bad Design" among E-bikes, and the media needs a critical evaluation. A special link called F.O.L.D. is the poor link structure of a single pivot, and the motor cooling performance is reduced to remove the battery from the bottom in a magazine form, as well as magnet connections with a lot of problems caused by magnetic force. And what's frustrating is that the connector is in a perfect place to smash...You're marketing trash to the point where I have nothing to say.
Those integrated headsets are awful. Too much plastic. Parts crack and creak. Focus had to replace mine on my 2021 Sam2 twice. In the end the shop put on a new regular headset. Nothing comes loose anymore!! The rest of the bike is amazing.
Sorry, but I cannot really understand the idea of putting AXS stuff on a bike with some more expensive alloy wheels but then only throwing a performance (not elite!) damper in the back and only the normal ZEB in the front for 8000$. Sure the battery is really nice, but thats not exactly worth it for me. There are some brands and modells, that actually seem to understand what a lot of riders want. A good suspension package, nice geometry and so on. Why would I want to pay 8000 dollars for a motorized bike with entry lvl suspension parts? Giant has an awesome Reign e+ 2022 modell. For a bit more than 8000 you get full fox factory front and back, carbon rims, 750wh battery, xo1 stuff like derailleur.. Sure no axs, but so much more performance. Take the lower model for 7500$ and even there Zeb Ultimate, Fox 38 perf. elite and x2 perf. elite damper, XT/SLX drivetrain, XT brakes. The price for the Focus just cannot be justified as for a lot of brands, where midtier specs cost as much as other brands highend specs.

I kinda agree. These things are freakin expensive so.... on a person level.... I gotta like how it looks as well as how it rides. For me the Bosch powered Jam2 "6. " bikes are easier on the eye plus have what is an arguably better power unit.
High mount shocks can look cool tho, the Orbea Rise is a fine looking steed
I just wonder how is yamahas motor on giant? Surely better the shimano but how about bosch?
@@FraGGile22 The new Giant syncdrive systems look like a good choice, smooth and quiet with nice integration.
The 2022 Trance looks damn nice ua-cam.com/video/Z5pgG5x5LOE/v-deo.html
Great looking bike with loads of new parts. Love the colour. Interesting that they make this bike with both the Ep8 and the CX motor. I noticed that the Cx only comes with a 625 batrery bit the Ep8 has 720. What do you reckon the odds are of the Cx with 625 having longer range than the Ep8 with 720 battery??
Bet your not far wrong there about the battery / motor comparison, it would be a good test, Bosch for me all day.
I'm dumbfounded why they didn't use the new Bosch system with 750W battery. I prefer the Bosch engine too
@@deanrwilson My new Pole Voima has arrived so as soon as I'm fit again I will be trying the Bosch smart system against the EP8. Bosch feels really nice. I like it so far for the mile or 2 I rode it up the road very gently
@@philseton5796 Hey have you written your thoughts on the Voima anywhere I want to read more long term user reviews on it!
@@LastAphelion No I haven't. What would you like to know?
Cant find any infos about mt5 eStop vs mt5 caliper??🤔are they same or is eStop caliper stronger or is the pads only thing differrent
I believe the calipers are the same and the estop levers have a brake sensor in them. I'm running MT5 on one of my bikes and they have a bunch of power, but don't feel as nice as the Shimano.
the pads and the discs are a bit different to the standard version, more optimized for the higher weight of ebikes. but the caliber is the same, I think
looks good, just a shame about that stem. it looks awful, and they dont offer any other sizes in it still
What is the top speed
Can I get a good electric mtb for about £3000…?
I’m now 50 and won’t be going down hills like this ,,, but definitely want something that gets me up the hills .
I dont dig the shimano, Brose was far better and bosch is it. JMO
where are those trails?
Swinley Forest trail centre👊
Come one, release the Giant vid.
So many bikes are using shimano motors they must have done a deal over buying the entire power train. Whereas Bosch only makes the motor system .
The motor is so loud?
I think Gopro makes it louder, in real life riding, it is pretty quiet.
This!! ^^^ 5:13 absolutely dreadful, I thought I'd read that the EP8 was super quiet under power (ignoring the rattle...)
Looks like an amazing bike. But shimano rattle is way to ignoring to ignore...
Price ?
Ridiculous expensive 😂
3.799€ now
Like that Focus, uses alloy & not fragile rider weight-limiting carbon.
BTW, Schwalbe is not pronounced Schwalbey, but in a German way. E is not i or ey there. But like e in mess, stress.
Thiss is a BIG JAMBORIE
You don’t have to answer this but do you do UA-cam for a living
yep!
Great review, who makes the 720Wh battery? is it Focus's own?
Yes. I didn’t look but possibly Simplo are the manufacturer.
I still would rather go bosch then shimano...

Listen to that horrendous motor rattle!
When’s the reign vids mate cmon!
The price for the Focus just cannot be justified as for a lot of brands, where midtier specs cost as much as other brands highend specs.
that rattle noise is terrible :/
Crappy components!
How would this compare to a trek rail 9?
It’s this more of a trail bike compared to the trek?
