When Crazy Diamond overpowered Star Platinum in the first episode, wasn't Star Platinum guarding? I don't know if that means anything, but Jotaro wasn't exactly aiming to beat Josuke up, only trying to calm Josuke (and ultimately deciding a punch was the answer) while Josuke was determined to do so, because of the hair 'insult'(Look at how he screwed up Jotaro's cap).

In that case, Jotaro was caught off-guard and Araki wanted to show-off Josuke's stand. And also, in Eyes of Heaven(Which was supervised by Araki himself); every JoJo in the series get shocked of Part 3 Jotaro's strength and wonder how strong him and his Star Platinum would've become at their upmost peak/prime. Well, if we're honest, he was letting those things hit him at a certain point because he didn't want to scare it off. In fact he probably could have killed it in their first encounter, had he not been curious enough to touch it's poisonous rounds.

In part 7, Johnny figures out almost immediately that alt diego has timestop. I’m not sure how realistic that is exactly. However, people aren’t stupid. Remember how Dio fucked with Polnareff on the stairs, and with Nukesaku at the coffin. Those were all done to obscure the nature of his stand. If just started teleporting around while various things in the environment move around, the nature of his power won’t remain secret for long.

Initially, it was that Jotaro could stop time. Then, it was how long Jotaro could move. Finally, it was that he didn’t know exactly how long HE could stop time. Almost all stand fights are like this. The key to victory is to understand your opponent. Narratively, this is pretty cool because it allows for the fight to start with the protagonist at a disadvantage and for them to gain power through the fight. The real strength of this is that it can be done again and again without any power scaling. The protagonist didn’t win because they got stronger they won because they learned about their enemy. Over time, they may get smarter about how they approach fights, but they don’t need to get progressively more powerful.
Actually the fastest form of movement you can get in just 2 seconds is a leap Running takes at minimum 5 seconds of acceleration on top of 5 to 10 seconds of deceleration While you can make a leap/long step at in 1 to 2 seconds, aka the time Jotaro had access to... So no Jotaro actually tried his best here it's just he was out of shape, in his peak he can do a 2 leaps and still have a full second extra to ora de shit out of someone, doesn't sound like much but stands move at % of light speed so 1 sec is a lot

Let's be honest. Jotaro wasn't using the star platinum's full potential. After all, it's been ten years. He's a little rusty. If this was part 3 jotaro, this part would've been half the total time.
That last clip where he takes down Kira just shows how insanely power his ability is. For everyone else here, Jotaro just runs and points at Kira, next moment he's flown back as if he's been absolutely annihilated.
I can't imagine if the anime played out like this. You'd just see jotaro turn away and walk off lookin like Kenshiro and say "You're already dead" as they are sent flailing in the opposite direction.

In the end it's all about that he was too op to allow for newer characters to shine. For example when Kira was "too far", he could have used star platinum to make him jump forward and if he was still out of range, star finger. Unlike hamon, which has to be trained, and wasn't usefull at all during part 3, stands should only get weaker if the user's life force weakens, and if his life force is already weaker at 29, i'm sorry for him

Jotaro is strong, but not that strong. In order for it to work, SHA must be thrown into space, and Jotaro never shown an ability to team Rocket things out of picture. Otherwise, SHA will either land in crowded street and kill more civilians, or it will be out of reach and they are again at ground zero, but this time with Kira not needing to impersonate people and free to develop plans and enact them.

it's not exactly filler, since it was part of the original manga AND had importance to the overarching story (more specifically the final battle, where Josuke used the same "shooting" with a piece of glass and Crazy D's power)
It was solo animated by a veteran who usually works with Studio Pierrot. The episode obviously had a lot of production time to allow the animator to do all the key animation so it ended up looking polished.
i'm aware manga can have filler, but when someone refers to something as filler in an anime adaptation of a manga, they usually mean something that was added in the anime to give more of a buffer between where the manga and anime are (something JJBA doesn't really do, since they're still animating stuff from like... almost 20 years ago, lol)

What I love about the battles with Rat and Sheer Heart Attack is that they're proof that with proper writing, even battles that involve an OP ability like stopping time can be intense.
I just realized that since Josuke punched(nicked but you get the point) he stand and not Jotaro's person, the fact that it warped the hat means the hat and stand are link which means the hat is part of Jotaros body

I am pretty sure the fact Jotaro was “losing” to the rat, was to put pressure and make Josuke have a sense of what’s happening. Or at least tell Josuke that Morioh is in his hands. Responsibilities for Josuke to be the next of them (Jojo’s) even if they aren’t like blood related. It makes sense that he would purposely get shot, since Josuke is the main Jojo, not Jotaro anymore.
Yes, he was doing teamwork to teach him how to handle pressure. If Jotaro was on his own, he would just have to use The World, shoot the rat with Star Platinum and the bullet in stopped time and that's it. By the way, Josuke and Jotaro are related. It's strange because Josuke is younger but he is still Jotaro's uncle. Holly and him are siblings.
Heck, if Jotaro was alone, he'd just take a rock and chuck it at the thing till it was paste. Star Platinum's a terrifying stand not because of time stop, but because of how strong it is. Time stop simply lets it leverage that infinitely better
I love seeing how like smooth it still is without the time stop segments. But more importantly I love the image of a normal person walking past a stand battle to see two people, not moving, screaming, and progressively getting bloodier.

Well if you think about it, Bug Eaten's stand is the worse type of opponent for Jotaro to ever face, long ranged, poison shots so Jotaro can't even catch his shots without getting poisoned, and the rat is smart enough to know that Jotaro is "teleporting." He pretty much outplays Jotaro. Obviously DIO would smash this rat, he can stop time for 9+ seconds while Jotaro being 2-3 seconds, THE WORLD is still better than Star Platinum, bug eaten doesn't stand a chance against DIO, but destroys Jotaro. Besides, idk if Star Finger is relevant anymore, if he had it he should've used it.
Alec M DIO could stop time up to 11 seconds at the end of the fight since his body had absorbed joestar blood and would have kept extending if jotaro didn't kill him

i think how bug eaten is able to foil jotaro's stop time is that it didnt foil it, it just fought based on instinct like "Oh this man jump when i shoot, so i shoot at rock so man jump in bullet range" or something like that. it dosent have a concept of time stopping and thus wouldnt bother to think into it

It used to legitimately speak in the begining of Part 3. And showed other emotions than pure rage. It used to smile in a twisted way. Araki later changed it and anime tamed it a lot.

night1952 Thats just what happens when you go from beating on Stand Users to a normal life for like 10 years. Just like Joseph's Hamon over time lost its edge. So did Star Platinum.
In the end it's all about that he was too op to allow for newer characters to shine.
For example when Kira was "too far", he could have used star platinum to make him jump forward and if he was still out of range, star finger.
Unlike hamon, which has to be trained, and wasn't usefull at all during part 3, stands should only get weaker if the user's life force weakens, and if his life force is already weaker at 29, i'm sorry for him

It's kind of funny to me that Jotaro and Josuke vs a fucking rat is one of the most tense fights in part 4.
It's funny at first until you realize this tiny rat is a small target with a range better than Hierophant Green or Echoes, and can literally melt flesh. If a wild animal with the power to instantly kill people from far away was out for me I'd be terrified.

it's not exactly filler, since it was part of the original manga AND had importance to the overarching story (more specifically the final battle, where Josuke used the same "shooting" with a piece of glass and Crazy D's power)
It was solo animated by a veteran who usually works with Studio Pierrot. The episode obviously had a lot of production time to allow the animator to do all the key animation so it ended up looking polished.

The reason SHA got damaged by Act 3 is because kira's hand got hurt when it hit the pavement. Kira's hand is much less durable than SHA and the damage is proportional between the hand and SHA.

Heck, if Jotaro was alone, he'd just take a rock and chuck it at the thing till it was paste. Star Platinum's a terrifying stand not because of time stop, but because of how strong it is. Time stop simply lets it leverage that infinitely better
I love seeing how like smooth it still is without the time stop segments. But more importantly I love the image of a normal person walking past a stand battle to see two people, not moving, screaming, and progressively getting bloodier.

Well if you think about it, Bug Eaten's stand is the worse type of opponent for Jotaro to ever face, long ranged, poison shots so Jotaro can't even catch his shots without getting poisoned, and the rat is smart enough to know that Jotaro is "teleporting." He pretty much outplays Jotaro. Obviously DIO would smash this rat, he can stop time for 9+ seconds while Jotaro being 2-3 seconds, THE WORLD is still better than Star Platinum, bug eaten doesn't stand a chance against DIO, but destroys Jotaro. Besides, idk if Star Finger is relevant anymore, if he had it he should've used it.
Star Finger's only a meter long and takes a moment to aim, so it's really ineffective, compared to time stop.
Alec M DIO could stop time up to 11 seconds at the end of the fight since his body had absorbed joestar blood and would have kept extending if jotaro didn't kill him

i think how bug eaten is able to foil jotaro's stop time is that it didnt foil it, it just fought based on instinct
like "Oh this man jump when i shoot, so i shoot at rock so man jump in bullet range" or something like that. it dosent have a concept of time stopping and thus wouldnt bother to think into it
