Illustrating the Alaskan Tundra

Francis details his experience over the summer of 2022 where he lived and visually documented the Canning River Bird Camp on the Northern Arctic Tundra of Alaska with a team of 11 biologists. In conjunction with the U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and The Audubon, Vallejo created an illustrated 88 page 'zine based on this expedition. In this talk, he reveals how to connect your art with nature and adventure, the residency world, pitching and delivering a project, how you can go on similar art adventures of your own, and the process used to create the experimental imagery in his 'zine.
