Mariajose and Andrew are friends of mine. They viewed it as an absolute necessity to go help you; there was no other option. That's how kind and generous they are. Their dogs, Charlie and Monster, are great animal companions, too. If you had to break down in the mountains somewhere, it was perhaps the hand of God that made sure you were near them. PS -- Please correct her name to "Mariajose" (not "Maria"). ;-)

Denver native here: People don't realize how ignoring warnings in the high country also jeopardizes other people. Mariajose and Andrew risked themselves to do that trek. I am glad she learned her lesson. I know spring can be super unpredictable, but a winter storm warning for the high country = DANGER (no matter how many inches are expected in your area). If you're not in a well-prepared home/hotel, stay out of the mountains. I was in my campervan in Moab when the storm ravaged the mountains. I told tourists heading that way to NOT even attempt the mountain roads until a couple of days AFTER the storm passed. Give the service crews time and space to do their thing...don't make their jobs harder. They had enough to deal with spring break tourists.

i know ppl talk crap about ppl who go live in an emergency instead of calling for help. but in this case maria did try to call every one she could for help and had no luck. this is a case where going live was a good thing and it was how she got help.
I very much agree with your comment.....and she did have guardian angels that came. Some others were unkind to her and made things worse.
Actually people should talk crap she wasn’t prepared you should always have extra stuff gas and what not and always know how much you have..if you are low then stay in town..better yet go fuel up

One thing I would recommend seeing your batteries and Battery Box is... One, insulate the Battery Box with some thermal liner and Two, get Deep Cycle AGM Batteries, they are better suited for the accessories, temperature changes and Deep Discharges. Last is carry a spare ratchet/wrench the exact sizes you need for the battery and just keep them in a small pouch in that battery box. 😁👍

I’d add before a long journey have the batteries load tested. Have the Alternator output checked as well.
Should get those wipers fixed while you’re at it.

you REALLY MUST carry some tools with you if you're gonna keep driving poe, i would feel awful for having someone drive 3 hours in that shit storm and up a mountain to just switch a battery !! You really need to learn from these mistakes, sorry if this seems harsh but some of these episodes are something i would expect from a 16 year old girl. and get your wipers fixed for gods sake!!
I agreed 100% I'm a dog lover and I was very worry for Blue. Always carry my tool box, extra food, water, batteries, cables. tire chains. I can't believe she is driving an old car without basic repairs. Junky adrenaline

Got a bit through this because it popped up in my feed, then recognized her..."hey, isn't that the girl who got in a mess because she didn't know how to operate a fireplace?" Yep. She's been lucky so far, hope her common sense catches up to her luck soon before something bad actually happens.

Yet not one of them on the Live stream pointed out that she had 2 batteries, a good on and a bad one plus a loaded charge pack. That poor couple had to drive over 3 hours in the snow and up a mountain all because she didn't have a wrench and didn't even know how to change to another battery, one already sitting right next to the bad one. Good Lord!

Exactly. Especially when they are traveling in states known to have brutal weather up in the mountains where it is unpredictable. I don’t think maria is stupid at all but her decisions tend to be reckless. Hence the name I guess :-). My concern is for Blue because of his health condition.
Or she could have Checked to see how much fuel or whatever she needs to stay comfy and then fill up…not sure why I kind of don’t feel sorry in this situation she could of prevented it
The storm had nothing to do with her situation. Her situation was caused by a faulty battery that could’ve happened on sunny day.

Hi Maria-a couple of things: love your hat-thanks for supporting the local hockey team; second, CSU is an amazing animal hospital-we had our late Kuvacz Maggie there for over a week with an idiopathic disease that paralyzed her back legs, she came home and recovered at about 90%, and lived another 6 years quite happily; thirdly and lastly, we got over 4 feet of snow from that storm near Nederland (west of Boulder), and we are still inundated with snow 2+ weeks later. I’m so glad you were in an area you could finally drive out of, as it took 4 days to just get out of our driveway, and our neighbors needed a road grader, it was so deep and wet. Whenever you’re in Fort Collins for Blue’s treatment, you are welcome to come camp on our property-we have acreage in the mountains, but still very close to all services. Just let me know! Best to you and Blue!
Hey girl, I just want to thank you. When you made that comment about brushing your teeth, you probably didn't expect it to have a real impact, but for me it did. I have premenstrual dysphoric disorder, which is a severe form of PMS. It is like reliving the worst day of your life over and over again for the two weeks before my period starts. So at times it's been hard for me to even do simple things like brush my teeth. However your message has helped to brush my teeth every day, so thank you.
I have the same issue. And I did go without brushing my teeth. This should be talked about more. And I’m still required to work regardless.
@@InTheWildWithYou You it definitely seems like something that is not that hard and shouldn't be an issue, but some how it can be so difficult. Sometimes you just have to go to war with yourself to get things done.
If you haven’t already, I would look into functional blood analysis or functional blood chemistry. It takes a deeper look into issues. It could possibly be a pathogen being missed in “normal” blood work causing hormonal imbalances despite even having your hormones checked. Hope that helps.

Colorado mountains can be unforgiving! You're lucky you had cell phone reception there, and not sure what you would have done if you hadn't. Those two are real heroes! Been living in the mountains of CO for many years. We've had one storm that came on suddenly with 7 feet of snow. There are times that even calling 911 isn't going to save you. Not trying to lecture, but yeah, don't do that again!
It’s great to see Blue getting the best treatment. I lost my golden retriever to lymphoma yesterday. I spent thousands on every chemo available to me. Unfortunately none got her to remission. Keep up the good fight and cherish every moment. Love your videos!

I’m not even at the worst part of the video and already shaking my head. You think you would have maybe kept your Alaskan adventures in mind? 😅 (I say that in the nicest possible way) you already were saying things like hardest drive of my life and all that. Never underestimate a winter storm. EVER. It is better to be safe than sorry, even if you only end up with less than an inch. Edited to add after watching whole video: You are very lucky you have such generous subscribers who came so far to your rescue and that you have such a loyal following. Why did you not get an Airbnd after Blue's chemo ? You said in the past this is what you did to give him rest in a safe and comfortable environment.
Could it maybe be he is not uncomfortable until a couple days after the treatment? I honestly have no idea. And definitely not defending her believe me. I think this video is a perfect example of her either just trying to live up to the name of her channel so she can make more money or she just doesn’t think these sorts of things through. Because the fact this girl did not stop at the gas station And waited out there, but instead drove further and further into a storm that five minutes before she could not see 10 feet in front of her is just really fucking stupid. Lol! I feel terrible for Blue because he is such a sweet, good boy and although it is obvious how much she loves him. She is definitely putting him in less than excellent situation when he is compromised.

I mean maria is not stupid and she has done enough traveling at this point to understand when she is in a state known for its brutal weather… She’s driving up a mountain When there is a snowstorm predicted… She is in a white out… Even though it’s snowed more than was predicted common sense, says, “I have this wonderful sweet dog, who I adore who is compromised right now… I can’t see a fucking thing 10 feet in front of me… I’m driving a nearly 30-year-old vehicle… I’m going to turn around and go back to civilization.“ So no, not a mistake maybe doing it for clicks I don’t know or just 20 something and not thinking it through but either way, don’t enable this kind of shit

How come a girl and a dog stranded on a mountain in a storm with not enough heat isn’t an emergency? I love Andrew an Maria to the rescue.
My husband is a fireman, and I'm a nurse. Although this is considered an emergency, we have to prioritize what is more severe...so if you're sitting in the e.r. with a sprained ankle and a heart attack or a car accident victim comes in, they take priority over your ankle. Nothing against this girl, but she kind of got herself into this situation, the battery issue wasn't her fault, but a semi hanging over the edge of a mountain will always take priority over a girl in a heated vehicle any day. It's not that they don't care, but that storm was an absolute mess. We live in Montana, so being prepared should always be important.
My question as well. Her potentially FREEZING to death IS an emergency .
Much like the other lady said, this is an emergency but in this kind of situation it is extremely low on the priority list of calls. She has heat for a night, so as of then, she is not in any immediate danger. Unfortunately when it comes to crazy storms like this in Colorado, you don't drive unless you are 100% prepared for the chance of getting stranded and being there for a long while. This can happen for any number of reasons too, the storm gets too bad, your car breaks down, or even an accident causing the highway to stop moving. Gotta be prepared for it all if you're going to drive through any part of the Rockies during winter.
When it's a guy and dog nobody flips out and ppl don't come in waves to help so what's the issue here.

Not going to comment on the getting stranded issue. Mechanical breakdowns happen.
However, going into the backcountry during a weather warning was a bit foolish.
Greater concern though is why have you not gotten your windshield wipers repaired yet. All the way from Alaska to Colorado without working wipers isn’t just foolish, it’s dangerous for you and other motorists. Get them repaired! Incredibly RECKLESS!

Beyond reckless. She does this again and again and again. Then she puts others at risk to save her and bail her out. Laughs and giggles when reading the warning?! Very frustrating and selfish. Why push into the mountains for a storm. Just the most irresponsible behavior. Absolutely no business being out there with no clue how to even begin troubleshooting. No winter gear and heads into the mountains 😤
Just pickup the phone to burden others and put them at risk for her foolishness. All could have been avoided is she had some sense to have tools in a vehicle! What’s the point of taking the tools out and putting them in storage. Crazy all she had was a screw driver 🤦♂️ not even a multi tool!!! Annnd got snarky when someone on live mentioned tools?!? Never even attempted to try to pull the at the cables to see if they would slide off the battery posts! Just wow 🧐
She could have been up and running in minutes of she had some grey matter. All you have to do is CONNECT JUMPER CABLES FROM THE AUX TO THE OTHER BATTERY! 🤦♂️ oh nevermind… she probably doesn’t have jumper cables. Put those in storage too I bet.

I greatly enjoy watching your videos but you do take risks which I do agree make your videos more exciting however I don’t think it’s fair to put other people’s lives at risk because of your lifestyle and options. Driving around without windshield wipers is a major red flag. You knew of the possibility of the snow risk, 30% isn’t 0%. I remembered from your last video you packed away your winter gear. Be nonchalant with yourself not with others.
Yeah, no tools, probably minimal car repair skills, bad battery, no propane heater for emergencies, broken wipers, car is obviously not in the greatest shape and certainly not expedition ready, etc. The channel is obviously well-named, unfortunately. Is this a generational thing, the unquestioned expectation that nothing will go wrong and if it does others will always be there to bail them out?
I know that it's considered poor form to criticize a channel owner in the comments, but this is now a pattern and it keeps getting repeated and could get her seriously hurt or worse if she keeps doing this. Having adventures is great but you absolutely have to be prepared for them and risking life and health for the thrill of it or out of ignorance or negligence is really dumb.

And about your interstate battery, same thing happned to me a few years ago also, 1 bad cell in my interstate battery and had to exchange it for a brand new battery.

I agree, 100% with your sentiment regarding social media/communities. However, in this particular case maria just made really stupid decisions and honestly I think it is just for the clicks aka getting that money. She is not a stupid girl by any stretch, so why on earth, would she have kept going into a storm when she was at a gas station safe having just experienced not being able to see 10 feet in front of her and she is traveling with a dog who is compromised at the moment? That is the time you either stay at the gas station and wait it out or at least go park somewhere in civilization, not keep going into the storm like she has no sense

It’s her battery connection. It takes 30 seconds to get out and turn the cable connections. She told him the connections were good but she never touched them! It was her fuse she pulled and claimed the cable connections were good. I don’t know how she gets through each day alive…
Love and respect to Andrew & Mariajose, vivid display of selflessness! @roamingreckless, when you pick up a set of tools, grab an inexpensive digital multimeter, there are folks here who can help you determine things like good fuses, condition of your grounds, what your battery capacity looks like, are you charging, etc. Beautiful place you were at, but so glad you made it out well!

Maria, set alarms on your alarm clock on your phone and label them with things you have to bring for your next adventure. That's what I do.. set an alarm for a certain time before your trip, put in the label of ratchet set, and just finish what ever you were doing and when the alarm sounds, it can remind you. Our lives get so hectic sometimes that we forget the simplest things. It's ok..
Honestly, really not your fault. Who would anticipate a faulty battery. Shout out to the couple, especially Andrew. Because of this episode I’m going to make sure I have the necessities in my car to be safe. Congratulations to Blue for getting through his chemotherapy🐾 💙
That's why cars used to have voltmeters in them. Serious drivers still retrofit voltmeters and know how to test their batteries. I give Maria lots of credit, but learning how to feed and car for your electrics is not a complex task. Serious off gridders put aside a couple of days and just DO it.
A "12 volt bible" "12 volt doctor" or similar book that's been out for 20+ years is about all it takes.
@@lyfandethShe needs to add a good multimeter to the list to troubleshoot and test the electrical system. And an electrical schematic for the Defender. Along with a wire brush, and emery cloth to clean the contact surfaces of the battery posts, grounds, etc. on an annual basis if going to remote places like that.

I would have agreed with you 100% at the beginning of the video but then watching this girl literally take her dog who is compromised at the moment into a storm that was only getting worse when she was at a gas station and safe. tells me she’s more interested in clicks than anything else. And Blue is obviously such a sweet, good boy who she is spending a lot of money on why on earth she kept going into that storm is beyond my comprehension for sure
