I love how the actor gives Ben/Thing a gruff voice, it suits him very well
Michael Chiklis
@@snakespider3452 that’s the name. I couldn’t spell the last name but I knew it was him
@@traintrack3761 no problem!😌
It actually is the actors real voice. He just lowers it for the role. Al you hear in this movie is the actor. Except one quote that he says on this bridge (other video)
"You Wanne be scared? FINE!" that was the only line that is made louder. Not even deeper. Just louder because he could not get the right volume with that voice without messing up his whole throat.
I always loved these precious moments watching how they saved everyone on that bridge.Even working labor jobs ,helping people will make you feel like a hero too in many ways, when you do services for others especially it's a beautiful thing.
Actually It Is a very emotional scene, i agree
@fenderstratocastertelecast8479 yeah but it was motivational that they saved everyone on the bridge though..even when Ben's ex wife send the engagement ring back to him I was like are you serious !?? the radiation storm affect his body to change his body to harden stone he's saved others even though it'll take him a while for Reed to build the machine to reverse the side effects and your gonna do that to him??...I'm sorry she was a mean careless bitch for that I know that scared her but she didn't have to hurt him like that...at least Alesha understood his problems and conditions.

I remember him struggling to pick it up because of his fingers and I cried for him at 9 years old. Love The Thing!
I love how we're shown that even though Johnny is impulsive and egotistical most of the time, he didn't think twice about dying for that kid.
It's those little character moments in these legacy Marvel movies that I fucking love.

To be fair, being impulsive and dying by jumping into harm's way to save some kid actually go hand in hand
Right. That's the only reason why I came here to watch.
@@randymarshislorde Most impulsive people are also pretty selfish, especially since Johnny is also egotistical asf. Turns out he’s a selfless in his impulsiveness.
It's moments like this that can reveal who a person truely is. In this case, Ben's wife clearly showed that her love for him was nowhere near as deep for him as he thought. If she truely loved him, she would have stayed.
I agree, it hurts a lot but it’s the truth. Fortunately he found somebody that did appreciate him…
He only won by became a monster
@@daderowley4514 Yeah because she's blind lol
Exactly. So what if hes big and rocky? He still has his personality
The Thing was always a favorite character of mine. A scene like this really shows all the different reactions people would have for a man turned into a 'monster' on the outside. Reed and Johnny accept it pretty quickly and only see him as Ben. Sue was definitely shocked but like Reed, always treated Ben well. The cops were immediately pulling out their pistols in defense/fear. The truck driver probably felt uncomfortable but didn't insult him or anything. Then the worst of all, Ben's wife dumps him after seeing his new rocky face. That bitch lol
The theme for the Fantastic Four just makes me so nostalgic.

Michael as Ben/Thing is such an underrated CBM casting. It was so tough seeing his fiancee turn on him like that and dealing with the grief on top of the ridicule that came with him looking that way. It's going to be tough for the MCU to top that IMO.
Michael Chicklis as The Thing is impeccable tbh. His performance is spot on and the orange rock skin prosthetics look great

It's moments like this that made the early-mid 2000s Marvel movies so amazing and memorable. The only parts that made them 'bad' were the boring love stories on the side and some bad casting choices.
The MCU learned from those mistakes tho. Now the romance is much more subtle and often well integrated into the plot, with the exception of the Eternals lol
And the casting has been very good for most of the MCU so far
Kinda sad to think that this film and the sequel are the last time we'll probably ever get to see an actor play The Thing in physical prosthetics. I love the look of the character here. So much better than fully CGI.

It just seems odd that Reid, Johnny, and Susan somehow already knew that Ben was on the bridge before the big event took place
In the comic books, The Thing can lift 85 tons. So how the hell did a 25 ton fire truck give him problems?
Maybe because this was his first time trying something like that. Even with immense strength, there's a certain technique of stance and position you gotta learn and gain intuition for. Maybe he's just not used to pulling something like a hanging firetruck. I say that because he definitely has no problem doing things like this later in the movie(s).
@@Wooktent makes sense
It was the size of the fire truck joe it rectangle in most of the fire truck is laying off the bridge so there u go that easy

Cap saving someone without using the shield, feels odd
It just seems odd that Reid, Johnny, and Susan somehow already knew that Ben was on the bridge before the big event took place
Cap does not have superpowers, the Human Torch had..
@ Actually Cap does have super powers, the Super Soldier Serum augmented his strength, speed, agility, reflexes and stamina to peak human levels.
@ I'm pretty sure that being augmented by a serum is super powers, especially if said serum makes you capable of lifting a godly weapon.
Johnny storm saving someone with a shield feels more odd
3:02 And in this part, when someone is falling from a tall building under construction, and Tails saves him, and he flies him to a part where he is safe.
Damn I teared up a bit when Ben's fiancé left him and he couldn't pick up the ring.
Fiancé actually, but yeah. I felt the same way.
I had no idea Laurie Holden was in this film too! She was in the final season of The Shield, which many fans of the show know Michael Chiklis was the star of.
Tbh: Chris Evans did play well as Johnny Storm/Human Torch and he was funny too. This was way before he played as Steve Rogers/Captain America.
That was probably the reason he was chosen as the actor of Captain America. They definitely saw some potential in him back when he was playing Human Torch. (Btw, I really wouldn't mind if they recast Ioan Gruffudd as Mr. Fantastic. It doesn't have to be the main MCU timeline. A multiverse version would be fine with me as well. He seems really suitable for the character)
@@laisensei6984 I love Ioan Gruffudd as Mr. Fantastic
Spidey to Sue: That’s a cute outfit. Did Reed give it to you?
I wish that the clip showed the part where Ben kneels down and tries to pick up the ring but his fingers are now too large and too blunt to grip the edges of it. It's like being reduced to a toddler and having to relearn everything over. Sue and Johnny look at what Ben's trying to do and feel sorry for him and read the only guy that has the sense to walk up and help him get the ring off the ground and promise he will do whatever he can to make him human again. Involve comic format and cartoons and movies, his best friend becoming a deformed rock creature because of a mistake on his part was one of the key reasons he formed the team and made them a public superhero group. Celebrity was essential to help them live some kind of a life and operate without being looked at with fear. And, in a way way, to make up for the lives he took from them due to his arrogance.
Yes. It is a terrible omission because the moment was such a brilliant piece of writing. Those huge stony fingers fumbling to pick up that little gold band ... such a simple and human way to express what Ben Grimm has lost. No words needed.
If Chris Evans stayed being Captain America as he is in the MCU I would be happy for him
This whole bridge scene was just one long clusterfuck of highly improbable scenarios. Topped off by Ben's fiance somehow finding her way to this literal car wreck and placing her ring on the bridge. Like all those things are happening and she chooses that moment to leave him? She's a Fantastic Karen. 😄

The majority of women who had their men becomes a monster "I still love you, don't matter what"
Ben's fiance "Stay away from me, you freak!"
This movie isn't great, but I don't think it was the cast's fault. I get when people say that this scene is backhanded because they caused all this, but I feel like if that part was changed, this would be one of the top tier origin moments for a team.
It's honestly heartwarming seeing the public call Ben a hero after everything that had happened to him. And that moment where he's trying to pick up the engagement ring with his fingers and can't, only for Reed to come over and say he will never stop looking for a way to help Ben is genuinely good. There is a reason Stan Lee said Michael Chiklis's Thing was one of his favorite performances of one of his characters.
