I think you and Jeremy McCullen make some of the best using pocket knives out there today. Scagel's pocket knife designs are some of the better ones out there for using knives.
On my SAK, I attached a piece of softer nylon flat strap, maybe 3" long, to the lanyard ring, and put one of those plastic buckle fittings for backpacks and such..the way it works, I drop the knife in my pocket, and stick that plastic fitting into the 'watch pocket' of the jeans...the knife hangs straight down, and it's easy to just snag the nylon strap with a finger, and out comes the SAK...the only time that the strap part bugs me is when I'm using the Philips screwdriver, it gets a bit wrapped up; the setup works like a pocket clip, but doesn't hang outside of the pocket. Just a thought...
This is a perfect little pocket/farmhand knife to have around. I still miss your liner lock you made 3 or so years ago. I just wish I could have got one. Might just have to get one of these slipjoints instead :)
ii will get around to making another batch of liner locks sooner or later, perhaps even this winter. but will definately be doing another batch of these slipjoints here in a month or two :}
I’m really liking the pattern, plus it’s cool it’s from scagel. Love me some linerless slip joints goodness. Cool jigging 👍🏻 Edit: we used to kill quail and some of those ring neck doves my whole life. Super tasty little suckers. The hearts are my favorite food ever. We used to save the hearts up for my birthday. I hope to someday have a batch of quail I can cull every season again.
from my understanding about scagel, having never met him, was that he had sort of a whimsical personality, and would often build things just because he could, and felt that they should be built, whether they were practical or not. for me those fixed blade hunters with the folding knife in the handle fall into that category, and they are very cool :}

thank you for the kind words my friend, and I agree with you that jeremy makes some dang fine knives :}

thank you for the kind words! after trying out those ringnecks, I will certainly keep getting them. what was your favorite way to cook the hearts?
@@joecalton1449a year later…. Just salt pepper and butter, but I’m a fan of plain meat.
I can imagine they’d make some pretty good street tacos
Very good looking blade brother 👍🇺🇸🔪
thank you my friend :}
Quit looking at my crotch. Lol. Nice pattern
thanks!
Just my opinion so take it for what it’s worth but I think a Barlow or wharncliffe shape would be great on a pocket knife like that
they would be very cool on a small pattern like that :}
As cool as the Scagel hunters with folding blade were, how was that ever a practical design?
