It's great to see someone with a huge amount of knowledge sharing it with the next generation and doing it in a way that allows them to soak it up like a sponge. I hope they realize just how valuable the lessons are. Keep it up.

When you see a company stand by their work & fix something that was their mistake it should make you more likely to purchase equipment from them. No person or company is perfect but standing by your work & fixing things is what seeperates the quality companies from the rubbish.
When i was a kid at school in the 70's through the 80's in England, you could nail a tractor to your shin bone and STILL have to go to school! I remember breaking my ankle at lunchtime, sitting through lessons AND limping home when school finished so I can go to A and E. How things change over time!!!
I watch you all the time,i must say if i ever needed anything at all i would buy it from you,you know how to fix things right,i would never take to to a Dealer because they would RIP you off im not say that you are Cheap but i would trust you.
The wide track pads can cause excessive rail wear if the tractor is running on hard and uneven ground. Also, they are running over a lot of stumps. They may actually need narrower pads for their operation, especially since the rails are not as heavy duty.
I live in Watertown NY which was in the center of the eclipse path. I couldn’t believe how quick the temperature dropped just for a few minutes of the sun being blocked out. I will never take the sun for granted after this.
I'm a couple hours north of you, in the Canton/Potsdam/Ogdensburg area. Oddly enough, I recall the local schools having a day off, missing a good teaching opportunity.
@@ravenbarsrepairs5594 As maintenance in a factory my motto was just be honest and tell me what you do to get it so screwed up so I know what I have to do to fix it. Never yelled at anyone that was honest. Made my job easier. 90% of the time I know what they did but still just be honest.
It is so refreshing to see once again an honest business man!! You stand behind your work and try and make the customer happy. Great service. You didn't even have to video this fix but yet your putting yourself out there and showing us all the right way to do things. Thanks for sharing and for the remembrance of the eclipse.
The best indicator of a reputable business is when they make a mistake, they make it right. I have had this happen to me a couple of times, and their is nothing better than when companies put there hand up and make it right. That makes you keep using them.👍
This video proves that you are big enough to say that " there may have been an issue" when you fitted the winch seal last time. Looking at the quality of your work I have reservations that it was your issue but anyway credit to you guys for showing the video anyway. Condition and usage of the equipment says a lot from an unqualified outsiders view.. Great stuff, 👍 from me..
If you are going to use anaerobic sealer on metal clad seals you must first remove the coating on the outside of the seal, I usually remove the coating using 400 grit sand paper with a small amount of brake cleaner. Anaerobic sealants only cure between two metal surfaces. And when anaerobic sealants are used with gaskets and other materials the odds of developing a leak are much greater due to the uncured sealant creating a leak path.
@@C_CEQUIPMENTI have seen service manuals contain wrong or contradictory information on many occasions. The engineers that write these manuals and procedures aren't always the smartest people.
Seems like it’s always those little things that comeback and bite ya, but at least it wasn’t catastrophic, and that sir is why you have the business you have because you take care of the customers. That dozer with the tight tracks, sure was clapped out, be interested in knowing what they decide and seeing the tear down to see how bad some of those pins and bushings got. Hey, thanks for the video, enjoyed watching, appreciate you sharing.
That was unlucky, I remember the rebuild a lot of time and effort went into that. Your customer base are really lucky to have such a genuine guy, who's also ready to take something back, those shims are so thin I am not surprised it was faulty. Nice seeing Hunter working with his dad, he's going to learn a lot and that doesn't include fixing a dozer wynch. And those dozer tracks, they are not designed to be that tight if they are that tight they are going to jump, its simple physics. 👍
What an awesome job to learn. When I was a teenager I worked for my dad too. I'll tell you one thing a blue collar job is way better than working at a fast food joint for sure. It's something you have to fall back on no matter what you decide to do for a career.👍👍
I was waiting for you to insult your logging customer with a new moniker.... And been waiting for a longer version of the solar bye bye day for a while. I was one of the many that caught your live / abort / live that day. Thanks to you and the crew and family for some very good knowledge and entertainment.
As always, great job. I appreciate you providing long videos to have time to show more of what you are doing. Good you warranty your work like you do as that is what sets better companies apart from the bad ones. Hunter and Tucker are growing up fast. One problem using dozers for logging vs skidders is dozers are better in steep terrain but only short hauls. Hauling too far with a dozer will wear out undercarriage faster. Keep up the good work.
I don’t own a dozer and will never rebuild one of these winches but I can’t NOT watch these videos I can’t explain it but it seems so educational BTW I had to travel to Indiana for work this week- I couldn’t help but think of C&C when I crossed the state line!!!!
Vocational school ? We don't need no school. We'll just watch Clint's C & C equipment channel and learn everything we need to know about working on excavation equipment. Interesting how a small strand of steel could destroy that seal. Plus some bonus footage of the eclipse. Thanks Clint. Here just above the Florida Keys in Homestead we barely got a slivers view.
Nice video and great catch on that shim. I always hated when you couldn’t find the cause for a problem. The logger probably got a 5 gallon pale sitting in the back of the truck that lets water in and then contaminated the oil in the winch when topping it off.
Looks like they could stand to rotate those tracks from left side to right after about 800 hours. Couldn’t hurt. I was in Nashville Tennessee for the last eclipse. It was amazing! The frogs and crickets sounded off and dogs were howling. I think that the temperature dropped fifteen degrees. So cool. Literally.
I have seen a situation where those shims had larger bolt holes and allowed the shim to sag slightly below the edge and end up getting sheared like that. It was a different application, but whenever I work with shims it crosses my mind.🤙
Several years ago we had the ideal spot for eclipse in St Joseph Mo. They made a big deal out of it and I bet that it would be cloudy and sure enough it built rain clouds and I went around collecting my bets. My wife said only you would enjoy the irony and I made $500!
Theres one thing about you Cliff.... You admit fault and fix it with no probs....Great guy....Thanks for showing the eclipse....awesome....stay safe and see you on the next one
An eclipse is quite a weird thing to experience - we had a 85% cover here back in the 1990's which made it pretty dark for ten minutes of howling dogs and disoriented birds. That poor dozer has certainly suffered some abuse since leaving your tender mercies - but it will be a costly lesson for the owner! Tracks and running gear must be adjusted correctly - too tight is just as bad as too loose. You need to send out all your sales with a copy of Goldilocks!
Massive respect to you for repairing the winch at your expense I'd have told the guy that the cable wasn't rusty so the leak was a bonus option I suspect some of your customers break stuff and just don't want to pay for their own mistakes Allegedly Nice work Mr Clint and your boys P.S. The eclipse wasn't as dark on the GoPro so I'll be suing you for false advertising 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Mines been leaking for awhile on that side john Deere said I would have to pull the winch off and disassemble it to replace the seal 😂😂 I guess they we're wrong...
I wouldn't trust everything they say... if yours dealer is like ours, experience is lacking and bull hockey makes up for the rest of the stories they will tell🤣🤣🤣Kevin
Mine needs work too. 700k I bought from you earlier this spring. It's leaking hydraulic fluid where you took the valve off for the winch control and I can't figure out where it's coming from.
great to see you encouraging young people to get a skill aswell as life skills so many today think a computer is the only way to learn a trade . a computer is just a tool in the toolbox to me.
In my past experience loggers were very hard on equipment. Allowing machines to freeze to ground and tearing up final drives, not keeping tracks clean of mud, and like you said running tracks too tight. Thanks for the eclipse show. God Bless All.
Well done guys, fit was tight for those paper washers. Maybe bolt holes have too much clearance causing them to shift around to much. Great video, thanks for sharing!!🤗🇺🇸
Gotta like a guy a whole lot that don't blame everyone else on a mistake...those loggers destroy lot of equipment bet no one lets them barrow a dozer ever, part of reason my lumber prices so high lol. You more than made it right.
