Hi....I applied a light coat of bonder as directed. I placed it in water and the ink started coming off the decal. Did I just not wait long enough or not add enough bonder? After watching your video I see that you waited over night. I only waited 2 hours. Appreciate any advice.
Thanks for this. I've recently gotten back into scale modelling, after quite some time, and just finished a Revell Battlestar Galactica 1/4105--ran into some problems with the flight deck/pods. Outdated manual, maybe. I was thinking that the next one I build, for a friend who is a big BSG fan, I'll do this after some careful planning--print my own decals.
I plan to repaint a car with decal headlights. What would you recommend for headlights on the repainted model? I am going to try photographing the old lights in high definition, then printing them on decal paper. Would it be possible to mask the old lights from the paint stripper instead? Just wondering.
Dec. 2017----Been modeling for a few decades. First thing is to have a gloss finish at least on the area you're putting the decal on. There are flat and gloss finishes for modelers. You can also use Johnson floor wax. Once you have a gloss finish, apply your decal but use Microscale's (aka Microset) Sol decal solution to help the decals settle over any bumps, etc. you may have. After a minute or two of setting, soak up excess with a paper towel/ toilet paper, then use Miroset's decal setting solution which helps "suck" the decal down onto your project. Soak up any excess, let dry for an hour. Cover decal with another gloss coat and if you want, apply a flat coat AFTER the gloss coat has dried. Hope this helps.
ive been having significant trouble making my decals. first the ink somehow went thru the clear coat and the film into the paper. next I tried spraying clear coat before i printed to "trap" the ink and it smeared as it came out of the printer. Any help greatly appreciated
I heard that you can't print white decals? Is that true? I have 1:24 scaled decal in white, But I want it to be 1:18 scale, so I kinda believe white decal is possible. What steps do I need to take in order make that possible?
Hi, I have a ALPS Electric Co LTD, Model MD-1000 AC100v-230v 50Hz/60Hz . Do I need a Disc and how would I go about getting start. someone told me it had to be down loaded on windows 10. I need all the help to know how to start printing my own labels.
In Power Point, How do you set your page layout up ? If you could give me that info it would be extremely helpful. I don't think I have mine setup right because my white background is horizontal. And yours is vertical. I'm not that familiar with PowerPoint. Also when resizing, how do you resize your images ? Like how do you figure out the measurements you want to get the next smaller size from your original designed image ?
You can print color with the clear paper, however the final color of the decal is determined by the color of the surface you apply the clear decal to. This is why I usually use white decal paper for color decals.
i have the same paper ,but i can only print one time on one waterslide decal paper in other words how did u get more than one image on one sheet . is that special software? thanks..
Yes and No. Yes meaning, you can do the same in photoshop and save it in PNG format. Worked everytime for me and saves lots of money and headaches. Now, to get to my explanation of No and Cons. One thing people mistakenly do in photo editing, is adjusting DPI resolution that is not enough to come out in HQ images. Assuming that's what it will look like in real life, that's actually incorrect. If you don't have a perfect scale of detailed say, a 1/18 scale model with an identical in scaled size and they'll be much larger in Photoshop as that is actually the correct size. Plus the quality is amazing once you apply the details.
Your sizing uncertainty comes from not having a scale enabled in the Powerpoint...I know this can be done in Word...(that's what I use), and turn on the ruler next to the sheet while laying out the graphics, you can lay them out accurately sized...I wouldn't be surprised if PP also has a scale you can enable. Cheers!
would you consider selling some custom decals? the reson i ask is because i am restoring my old NZG cat 627 any would need all new decals. let me know what you think thanks!
+Tom Spallone hi, i had a similar issue until i found out that there are 2 types of decal paper. one is for laser printers and the other is for inkjets. so you have to purchase one of those depending on what type of printer you have and it will work.

Is the spray just a topcoat to protect while working with, or is it needed for waterslide function?
How do you determine the scale of the decals? Is it just hit or miss or is there some method of determining scale size.
Hi. thanks for the video. How do you prevent the decal from peeling off after a few days?

thanks great video. one question tho the clear decal paper only prints black ?

do we need to have both clear and white decal paper?
hi, with laser printer decal paper, do you still need a sealer
When the paper come out the printer, without bonding spray or nothing, can you past it on the car or not ?
no the ink sets on top of the paper, you will need the bonding spray to seal it
if bottom colar was black, it s works too?
How can I resize without distortion the image? Try to do this for 1:64 HotWheels car *thanks*
Which paper do I need for a decal that is black and orange with no white? Clear or white?

+shovelhead dan White. The orange may not show up well with a clear decal.
Thank you.

+Diecast Collectables thanks. and do u use special software for that?

Diecast Collectables
Can you use the decal paper in a laser printer? Would all be the same? Thanks.
+Tom Spallone The paper says it will not work in a laser printer. So I would think it will not work.
+Tom Spallone hi, i had a similar issue until i found out that there are 2 types of decal paper. one is for laser printers and the other is for inkjets. so you have to purchase one of those depending on what type of printer you have and it will work.
your not by chance from or near DeWitt Michigan??
What program do you use to create a decal
How mutch is the decal paper cost and the decal inhisive?
6 sheets for 8 or 9 bucks, then the spray is a bout 3 bucks
Do u have a link for these materials?
May I ask what printer that is?
I bought the paper, and because I dont have a computer I went to staples and they said they couldn't print it for me cause paper was too small
What website do you use
How do you know if the size is right.?? I need help.
Rc-Nerd Use power point.. the size is Height : 0.28 Width 0.61
Rc-Nerd But if u want the decal big just make the height and width bigger
Microsoft word has measurements on the side if you use that your not wasting paper on ones the wrong size
there a website called purple wave and you can design school buses from that website almost any bus you can like Carpenter Blue Bird IC/Ward/AmTran & Wayne Superior
This is fine except you do not say how to size the decals properly and any graphics program you use to do this.
