I must’ve seen every Elvis movie on the planet!! Watching this man move is a sight to behold. Absolutely gorgeous!! Elvis got into amazing shape for this ‘68 Special. Look at HIM in that black leather outfit 🫠 Whewwwww!! I remember watching this with my mom & her best friend .. Yep they were all giggly & flush! 😂
First scene from the same name movie from 1957 applies as the very first music video ever. Elvis was involved to the coreography. Second one live from the iconic and most sucessfull and most watched TV show from 1968. This Comeback Special heralded Elvis permament return to the concert stage one year later in summer of 1969 after the movie contracts were ended. The live years were incredible successful. Sold out shows whereever Elv1s played👑
This is from his movie Jailhouse Rock in 1957 his 3rd movie of the 31 movies he would go on to star in. It's much better when viewed watching the movie. I agree it's a lil weird all on it's own. This was actually choreographed by Elvis, the first and only time he ever choreographed anything and he was really proud of it.
“Alex Romero, a dancer and choreographer was assigned by MGM production executive Pandro S. Berman to work on Elvis' dancing for the movie "Jailhouse Rock.” Dancing great Gene Kelly was on set as an observer while the scene was being filmed, & Elvis was helped by dancer Russ Tamblyn, who worked with Presley on his leg movement. Romero also conceived the sets and costumes. Due to an oversight by MGM production executive Pandro Berman, choreographer Romero did not receive credit for his work. Berman sent Romero a letter of apology that was published in Variety Magazine." Romero also worked with Presley on three other films - Clambake (1967), Double Trouble (1967), and Speedway (1968).
It’s from a scene from his 3rd movie Jailhouse rock he’s an ex con who has a talent and gets a Hollywood contract so he’s basically doing a music video in the movie Elvis was 22 years old here The Song Jailhouse Rock was the 1st song to enter the UK Charts at #1 and it also reached #1 again in the uk back in 2005
thats a great idea having an older version and a new version on the same reaction... i enjoy your take on elvis thru your dad and uncle's eyes.. gives us nice insight. it sucks that youre still feeling bad but elvis is the best medicine (not literally but still...lol) ive really loved watching you from your early days till now... looking forward to more to come
Many people said that in person he looked much much younger than his age. And his later fat phase was really just the last year and that was mostly bloat and constipation issues, he was very sick by that time. But the last 3 years he was chubby
such a pleasure seeing your videos, brother. love the joy you are experiencing as you discover our music and share with your generation. watchin and diggin it from an old rock and roller across the pond in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. U.S.A. love your opinions...love the accent...keep em coming, mate. go with God. peace.
The movie Jailhouse Rock was released on Oct. 1957 when Elvis was 22, almost 23. This golden boy, Elvis Aaron Presley, was born on January 8, 1935, in Tupelo Mississippi, to dirt-poor parents. His twin brother Jesse Garon was stillborn. It is a fact that people who are twins are marked for life for being a part of another. Losing one`s twin sibling has a very particular effect on one`s psyche. Describing Elvis as "The Fat Man" is awful, not to mention that it is wrong. I`ve seen his concert outfits in person and those were not of a "fat" man. Elvis` career lasted for 24 years. He was bloated in the last two years of his life (due to medical problems and the medicine he took) and yet everybody is mentioning it as if it lasted at least 10 years. Elvis was one of a kind and can`t be compared to anybody. Those who came after him can consider themselves lucky because without Elvis the musical arena would look quite different.
That was a fun comparo 🙂 Comeback Special/black leather Elvis was probably his best era 👍Amazing that he kept such a massive fanbase despite how much the music scene had changed in those wasted yrs in btwn, when he had no live performances. Legend 🔥 P.S. - Sore throat needs: saltwater gargle a few times (sorry), lots of sleep, chicken soup...and shots of equal parts whiskey/lemon/honey. Get well soon!
This is from the movie “Jailhouse Rock”. I like this early version better than the Comeback Special version. I saw the “Jailhouse Rock” movie when I was a kid well before I saw the Comeback Special. I’ve been an Elvis fan since I was a little kid and I’m 69 now.
The 1st one is from his film Jailhouse Rock in 1957; interestingly, everyone requests that early version saying it's the best & no one suggests looking at the '68 version, which i prefer; he put so much work & effort into it. He was so concerned & nervous about this that @ very last minute he told the producer he wasn't going out there -- the producer said even if you just walk out, say hello & leave, you're going out; obviously it all worked out very well for him. One of the great things about Elvis was that he could screw up a line or a few words & just ease right along, smile or laugh about it & just keep going,
thanks, Rory - this is a fun song - but also kind of hilarious -- Elvis on the "pole dance" - and the lyrics are bizarre -- "if you can't find a partner, use a wooden chair???" -- it's kind of obviously about sex in prison!! lol
wasn't expecting to hear anything about Iron Maiden lol... that was my first concert Number of the Beast, I was 12 years old but that leather look has been rocked since Marlon Brando did it in the 50's
This film version is very different to the single that was released. For the film they added all the backing vocals and dance band style musical instruments that, in my opinion, spoil the song.
Hey, honey. You're so right about that handsome face. I got a good close look (the 2nd time I saw him in the 70's) & he was even more handsome in person. Living, breathing, 3 dimensional, he was the most beautiful person I've ever seen. It was hard to believe he was even real. And just a bit of clarification about what people call the "fat Elvis" phase. He really did struggle with his weight & it showed the last couple of years of his life..but it was compounded by the massive doses of corticosteroids he was on (along with other meds). Extended, high doses of those particular meds caused severe bloating, especially in the face & upper body. They were trying to treat his ongoing colon & digestive tract problems, pain issues etc. It was all such a vicious cycle, & it was more than just being fat. It's such a crying shame he wasn't able to get better. Bless his sweet soul. Hope he's well & happy on the other side & with his loved ones. 💙☮💙☮💙☮💙☮💙☮💙
everyone who has seen him in person says he was more gorgeous in person than on screen -- & that comment from many males of the species; strange thing about his taking codeine -- he had horrible digestive issues w-much 'backup" & codeine causes constipation so it's strange that he would be prescribed that for pain which added to his digestive issues
@Deborah Cornell What an absolutely wonderful comment. One should explain Elvis` problems in this way on every reaction because most people don`t know the first thing about him and yet they spread false information that had been put out there by ignorant people. Thank you, Deborah. I wish I had seen him live. You`re a very lucky lady. I wish you a very Happy New Year 2023. Take care, my friend❤ Greetings from Slovenia :)
Hi Deborah -- what i find interesting & curious is that there is little or hardly any mention of his breathing difficulties for which he used an inhaler due to the a-1 antitrypsin deficiency which can cause COPD/emphysema + liver ailment & his need for an inhaler to help him breathe; it is detectible just very slightly early in his career & became more pronounced as the yrs. passed -- it is somewhat noticeable at his outdoor interview in Hawaii & his cough at his Houston press conference in 1970; it is even w-him in '68 when at one point (i forgot which song it was) when he stopped, coughed & kind of jokingly said he had to stop to breathe; thanks

OMG, WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT??? STOP MAKING NONSENSE UP. YOU DO THIS ON ALL HIS VIDEOS. Unfortunately, Elvis was addicted to heavy opiates, narcotics. He wasn't on steroids, give me a break. Stop making crap up. He was gorgeous and the most successful male solo artists in history and doesn't need YOU to make up some crazy medical history. DRUGS FOUND IN HIS SYSTEM, THE AUTOPSY AND PRESENTED IN COURT: antihistamine (prescription) codeine (prescription for pain) Demerol (prescription narcotic used as a sedative) tranquilizers (prescription including Valium) a sedative-hypnotic prescription for insomnia Elvis “was a walking drugstore” and death was caused by “polypharmacy”-the combined reaction of several prescription drugs. The combination of prescription drugs depressed Elvis’s central nervous system: the brain, followed by the heart, and finally the lungs (Noguchi). Elvis gobbled drugs “from the time he woke up in the morning until the time he went to sleep at night”
The reason Elvis had to make a 'comeback' was partly because his manager mismanaged his career. He was the one who convinced him to concentrate on movies rather than touring. More money that way for Col.Tom Parker. Elvis was no actor. People like me, who lived in small towns and had no way to see Elvis live could go to the movie theatre. Movies had a worldwide audience and pulled in huge revenue. But they were lousy movies, poor plots and the songs were composed for the screen. Elvis loved playing live and had no outlet except among his huge entourage of "good old boys" who traveled with him and sucked up his money. So he ate a lot...he didn't drink alcohol, but he did get into prescription drugs, his eventual downfall.
The zappa troll is almost in every elvis Video and always write the same one_sided rubbish about elvis, he probably write down the questions and answers to present them here, to get attention, always the same Procedure 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂

This is from a movie called "Jail House Rock " !
Probably the greatest song he ever recorded. Debatable of course, but definitely in the running.
that's from the movie of the same name... when I saw the dance scene on the tables I was reminded of Channing Tatum? sailor scene from Hail Caesar
