    Hey guys!! Just in case anyone is wondering - I will definitely go back to my normal background, but I thought it would be fun to switch it up to something white & clean. I love channels that switch up backgrounds, filming angles, etc! I really enjoyed editing this video too. So thanks for watching XOXOXO

      Shea Whitney you worry way too much about what people think of you, yes some people like to be perfect, but if someone criticizes your look, either an understanding person would accept it or someone who is so insecure that the person flips out
      Seriously, it's what makes a person human and to not always look like a barbie is alright, you know that right?
      If someone judges you that makes you a person, pry should check themselves
      Don't be so hard on yourself

    I just came from the channel teachingmensfashion and the guy does similar videos like this teaching guys fashion and grooming. And the comments there from all the guys who watch are so supportive and positive, saying “oh this helped me so much” and “I got a girlfriend now, thank you” and so on. Then the comments here are so rude and negative. Clearly you all with these negative comments came on here and searched for fashion advice or tips, then start hating saying you don’t have the money and its so superficial to be like this and putting down this woman’s fashion advice 🙄 Especially no where did she say these were “cheap” style tips... How about women need to stop being so judgmental. Start there first, then fix your outfit later bc that is way more unattractive than what you got on.
    To Shea Whitney: girl the video is great, you made really good points💞

    • @liliyalapik7434

      Except the one or two points that are actually flawed. I wish she had done some research before making generalized statements. Otherwise I have no problem with the video. Although I do think this video talks more about being put together then being fashionable.

    The shoe tip is totally wrong. The best time to shop for shoes is at the end of the day because that way your shoes will not be killing you all day as your feet swell.

      Anne Livingston this especially bugs me when I see celebrities and/or you tubers doing this! So noticeable when they have extensions in too.

    • @BbGun-lw5vi
      @BbGun-lw5vi 6 років тому

      Anne Livingston Yes! This is the type of tip that is useful. My biggest gripe with UA-cam is that most videos repeat the same tips and hacks over and over because they just copy each other and don't offer anything new so I learn nothing. For example, someone in the comments mentioned panty lines showing and Shea said she almost included it. I'm glad she didn't because everyone knows that one.
      I think this video had a few tips that are not as obvious.

    • @BbGun-lw5vi
      @BbGun-lw5vi 6 років тому +5

      Beth McDonald The extensions showing in the back should have been in the video! I see girls on tv or UA-cam with long hair suddenly turn around and their hair is now at their nape! 😬 They move all their extensions to the front so nothing is left at the back and now they have a bob from the back. Looks insane and they're totally unaware. I'm always shocked when it's a celeb or newscaster.

    1. Wearing the wrong size of shoes

    4. Pet hair or lint
    5. Chipped nails
    6. Saggy jeans

    9. Dirty shoes

    It's actually better to try on and buy shoes at the end of the day BECAUSE your feet are swollen. If your feet swell that much in day that the shoes are noticeably too big when you put them on in the morning, imagine how tight the "right size" would be by the end of the day.
    An easy fix to that gap is to add removable foot pad inserts that will push your foot up/back.

  • @sapphirecamui6447
    @sapphirecamui6447 6 років тому +32

    some people have wider feet and simply can't find fitting shoes because most are too narrow. but a bigger size will fit better in the front. plus, i hear MANY experts that recommend buying shoes at the end of the day BECAUSE the feet are swollen - this way you also avoid getting blisters...

    I live on a teacher budget so my clothes are never high end. Most of my pieces come from Old Navy or Target. That said, these tips can dress up all of my bargain priced outfits. I really appreciate it, Shea. You've gained a subscriber from me :)
    Even though I can't afford super high quality pieces, I truly believe in appearing professional at (almost) all times at work. Pulled together doesn't mean that I spent hundreds of dollars doing it.
    I do tend to get 'diaper butt' with all my dress pants regardless of size. :(

    Yes, I agree with all of this; but gel does not equal shellac. Shellac is a form of gel polish; there are tons and tons of different types of gel polishes out there; they are not all forms of shellac. Gel polishes have been in trend for many many years, unfortunately shellac is one of the most damaging type of gels for your nails. Lots of ladies from Asian countries use gel polishes, in fact most of the nail salons in Japan only offer gel services, they do not offer normal nail polish services. ParaGel and CalGel are probably the most popular forms of gel because they can be cured during the steps with an LED light and finalized with a UV light as the last step. Shellac in most forms/brands can only be used with a UV light, leading to longer exposure to damaging lights for the skin.
    This is not meant as an offense, but just more education for everyone :)

    Dark-colored clothes do not ATTRACT more pet hair or lint! It just is MORE VISIBLE! I knew a person that wanted to know if she should get rid of all her black furniture (because it was MADE OF A BLACK MATERIAL), or if she could "fake it" by painting it white, because she heard someone say what you did. The only time color affects nature is in light reflection & heat absorbsion. Also in psychology: certain colors evoke certain thoughts. Also in vision tricks: black/dark colors in certain places give different looks.

    I did my Degree in Fashion Design & Textiles and all I can say is fashion is hype, and there is no rules in reality..it is best to be unique and wear what you feel comfortable in, artists like myself like to pile on jewellery in bright colours and others do not. Different strokes for different folks, if we all copied the same rules it would be a very boring world indeed!. Be FREE people do what you like! xxx

    • @britneyculpepper6051

      The Absolute Madman she said that there’s no rules in fashion she didn’t say if u dress like a LITERAL clown that someone wouldn’t say anything smh🤦🏻‍♀️ you’re definitely trying to take this to the extreme all she’s saying is wear what you think looks good and if you like a lot of jewelry or bright colors wear them but honestly people are gonna say something regardless so do what u want. Just because someone thinks something doesn’t look good doesn’t mean someone else can’t like it.

    I think as long as you are happy with yourself you shouldn't worry about what "fashion mistakes" others think you are making. There is already so much pressure on women to look a certain way. If I make it out of the house with shoes and pants - I consider that a win. lol.

      Curious then why you are watching a fashion channel? The point of the vid is ideas to check to make sure you look put together in the way you are intending to be. If you're intending to just have shoes and pants on, this is probably not a vid aimed at you?

    Yes you can wear whatever you want and yes these might not be practice for everyone. Yes these require money and yes they may not be practical for everyone. You don’t have have to follow these rules all the time, but it’s nice to know these Incase you are going somewhere special or want to feel better.

    About the sizing for online clothes, here is how it works. find your size in most stores, I am a small. So then find were you are on the spectrum. If you can sometimes get away with wearing a size down the your on the lower side of the spectrum, and vice versa. then, when shopping online, look at the comments. if people are saying the clothes are to tight, and your on the lower end of the spectrum you can stay in your size and have a bit less give, or go down a size and have more room. If your on the upper end of your size and the clothes are to big, you can stay in your size, or buy the smaller size, expecting it to be a bit constricting.

      I used to complain about the extra dog I swept up every day, until the day we lost them. That last sweep was the most difficult task ever. Now I search high and low and collect each one as if they were precious diamonds. I do agree with Shea, we look better with out the fuzz. Girl, you should learn more about shoes. There is a reason to have slightly bigger shoes - your feet will not suffer after hours of walking of standing. As well you can use the special patches inside so they fit perfectly. For the rest I mostly agree. And I have a tip for online shopping - always buy slightly bigger size then the exact size. I always prefer to custom them, especially because I have big boobs.
    Btw, I am from czech. And the worst crime, is when women wear sporty skiing jacket with dress when they go to theatre or something. They just take it as how they look before arrive, does not matter :-D

    You touched on it briefly, about buying clothes that actually fit you. Buy BRAs that fit properly! There is nothing worse that seeing someone in a nice outfit and they are spilling out of their bra creating a unattractive edge (like muffin top with jeans) in a t-shirt or dress.
    What I do is have bras of 2 different sizes - so if I'm bloated I can wear a larger size to compensate.

    Love this! I totally agree with you especially about the gel nails. It changed my life when I started getting gels. Everyone thinks I paint my nails every day when I only get it done every 2 weeks! Two years ago, after I started a new job, about a month into the job my supervisor asked me how my nails always look perfect. I worked at an art gallery and even after doing hands-on, physical work the nails don't chip. She admitted that her and the other supervisors were actually impressed in my interview by how nice my hands looked at it helped convince them to hire me. It made me seem super put together, responsible and organized. It's bizarre what a large effect these small details can have. Worth it! Also, congrats on approaching 100K! I have been here since the beginning and you definitely deserve the rapid growth! ❤️

I don't do interviews though, so I'm not judging people by their appearance or anything...I just know that it happens. I'd love to second this! I I think it makes a big difference on to how put together you look. I agree with Shea about the chipping. I understand people that might not want to do their nails/cannot do them for a variety of reasons, and I think having natural nails is fine, too. The polish always takes it to another level. I'm a communication professor and I am not at all surprised that it made a difference in your first impression and helped you get the job. A quick question for you both. Have you tried dipped nails/ANC? I am doing that now but I am not sure if it is damaging to continuously put shellac or ANC on my nails. Do you ever take a break and go natural?

      hmmm, I don't see how putting on lipstick takes too much time, or putting on a pair of nude heels, or being confident, or actually being interactive with people instead of living inside your phone. And you don't even have to get your nails done. What she's saying is don't have dirty or chipped nails. It makes you look like you don't take care of yourself. Maybe the woman with the "too large tote bag" at the formal event just has a lot of things she needs to be carrying? Like things for her (hypothetical) children, a bottle of water, hygiene items, etc. Of course a Chanel mini would look better with a nice outfit, but if you're out all day at an event, you might need a bigger bag. I don't think it's a big no-no as long as the bag looks nice.

    • @MeJustMeOnlyMeJustMe

      Jörg Gressmann her first assumption was "laziness". I know many women who attend events with a large tote bag. They usually work for NGOs/charities, have come straight from work and aren't paid enough to afford a car where they can leave the tote and change to a smaller bag. Hardly what I'd call being "lazy".

    All these make sense. I definitely struggle with the chipping polish and keeping clean shoes. With changing bags, depending on the size and the occasion, I use one of those inserts with pockets that keep all the stuff I always carry around and just move that (with all the contents) into the next bag. This obviously doesn't work for smaller bags, though.

      It's definitely possible to be interested in fashion without internalizing all of the toxic messages around us that we're never pretty, rich, or thin enough. That we are expected to maintain absolute perfection in our physical appearance (Which is the message I received from this video) Don't buy into the hype, and you can have a lot of fun dressing. Don't spare a single solitary fuck for what anyone else has to say about it. Dress to give yourself joy.

    i do think that the purpose of this video is to help others do small things to fix their looks! but I hope u young gals know you don't have to pay for fancy nails to look good, chipped nails or plain nails are fine! a girl I know made fun of someone who didn't have toenail polish on with flip flops and i got really self conscious wearing flip flops without nail polish but it shouldn't be a problem. Same goes with the other stuff, you shouldn't focus on or spend money on small things in order to impress other people, you're fine the way you are. it really shouldn't matter whether you have wrinkles or hair on your clothes, it happens.

      I paint my nails every other day because I am washing dishes constantly in this house. Sometimes I give up and just wear clear coat. I've even gone clear on my toes. It makes them look better. Not everyone has to do their nails. I mean as log as they're clean I see no issue with anything. Now the hair issue, I rescue animals. If you don't like hair, don't come to my house and if it's on my clothes by chance, which I lent roll regularly, it's my issue not any one else's.

      This is the first video of hers that I've watched, and I think she has some good ideas, but I don't really like how she talks about chipped nails as if it kind offends her lol. Also at the beginning of the video how she uses a "full face of makeup with no lipstick" as an example like it's just unacceptable, and referring to the shoe thing as it's lazy. I don't always wear lipstick because I like my natural lips, not because I'm lazy 😉! I like some of her general ideas, but I wish that she wouldn't present them in such a way that it sounds a bit judgemental and probably makes some viewers feel badly about themselves. Some of us don't have the $ to spend on making sure every outfit has the right handbag, etc, and some of us *ahem, me* just simply don't care about dressing for other people and following the things that the majority thinks are essential. We don't wear/not wear certain things not because we don't know any better and need you to inform us, we just like what we like! I'd like to see a video about real common mistakes made with makeup/fashion, for ex. unblended foundation, and how to fix them, because that's something many people genuinely don't know how to do instead of 'make sure you have a handbag, wear jewelry and your pants fit' etc.
      Overall she seems like a sweet person, and is absolutely gorgeous, and maybe her other videos are different, I don't know. I just wish the overall tone was more positive ☺.

    You really did a good job here Shea! You ticked almost all the boxes I see women doing a lot - and so many of them are such an easy fix! Polish your shoes (not just cleaning them but polishing them with shoe polish) makes such a huge difference and it's easy and cheap. Right fitting clothes is huge as well (I make my own so the fit is perfect) but losing and gaining weight will alter the fit of your clothes and you need to change them out if your weight fluctuates more than 10 pounds. If you wear a beautiful suit but it isn't fitting right at the shoulders or hips it looks like you borrowed or rented it :) Wearing exercise clothes anywhere but exercising is a total no no in my book.

I was at a wedding the other day, looking great of cause, and there where some really beautiful younger ladies sitting on a table and whilst the main course was being served unfortunately one of the waiters serving their table had tissue stock to his shoe and they where all pointing and laughing at him. And it started getting attention and making this young man feel self conscious so I walked over there bent down tapped the guy to lift his leg and removed the tissue I gave him a wink and a smile and walked away the guy felt better. please care about how you make people feel it truly is important.

To spend 600€/year at the least for nails is just plain crazy imho. These are acrylic prices, the gel nails might be slightly cheaper.

    Thanks for the tips for Jewelry. I used to wear something nearly every day, but now that I'm at home most of the time, I don't see any need.
    Also, sometimes on the day my Mom and I would help take care of the family kids, I would remember that I didn't want my jewelry to be pulled on and possibly break or hurt me or others.

      Same with work in food service. It’s really not necessary. But it’s best not to have nails done in food or hospital setting jobs. It’s very fun just do them yourself and buy a set of temporary acrylic nails for those days your off and on a holiday or special occasion. Then you can get them off later.

    People who keep complaining about those being first world problems or about her being judgy - come on it's a video for people who actually care about their outfits. Yeah not everyone has time/money for all those things, hell I can't even afford new clothes most of the time lol. still, it does help to be more aware of what you're buying and wearing. While I wouldn't agree on the jewellery thing either, most of the things she said are true. Some people be wonderin why some people's outfits always look on point then getting mad about listening to how they do it. smh

    These aren’t mistakes, these are your personal judgements. Judging is instinct of the human brain and you might think these are mistakes (I even agree some of them don’t look good) but these are not rules and things you have to follow. Some people can’t pay $25 for a manicure or have to wake up at four in the morning to go to school or work and don’t have the time and energy to look for the perfect jewelry to go with their outfit. People can dress however they want and it may not look good, but at least they’re doing what they wish to.

    The first advice is plain stupid. It's correct to try on shoes at the end of the day when your feet are swollen, otherwise you end up with shoes which are too small for you! I used to make this mistake a lot (trying on shoes earlier in the day), and then I had a lot of shoes which were slightly uncomfortable. Now I go for a larger size in case of doubt.

    wrinkling has nothing to do with a brand. it's just a matter of fibre composition of the fabric. if fabric has higher cotton composition it tend to wrinkle while fabrics with higher polyester content wrinkled less.

    • @b.walker5955
      @b.walker5955 6 років тому +4

      I agree with Shea. The better the brand the finer the fabric. This is a industry standard that applies in linens, drapery material, automotive upholstery. The better known brands have a standard in the quality they will consider for the name and reputation. There are several low end fashion women's stores that apply here in the US. Jc Penny, F21, Cato for example is always going to have a cheap grade of cotton and assembly. The weave is low thread count and no amount of ironing is going to last all day. While a black label Ralph Lauren 100 percent cotton is going to use the highest quality cotton available, weave much tighter more threads per inch, and by the end of the day I can just hang it and rewear again. And, the washing and color stay is finer with a higher end brand. My experience is totally in line with Shea's observation.

    Great comment about same size regardless of make, you are so right. Sometimes the most economic answer is to find a local seamstress and have all your things sewn to size. It can really pay off, especially as everything will look unique and top quality, and the fabrics are generally much better as well.

      You can buy a product where fabric and notions are sold called 'hemming tape'. Turn up your pants, tuck the tape (about an inch wide) in between and press into place with an iron. It's adhesive on both sides, very lightweight and holds through washing. No sewing required. Your pants are hemmed.

    • @1983IB
      @1983IB 6 років тому +19

      No, I don´t use it either. Regardless if I use primer etc., it damages my nails for several weeks afterwards.

    • @anjolicruces385
      @anjolicruces385 6 років тому +7

      1983IB it depends on what nail polish you use. Some professionals remove gel nail polish wrong, by ripping or scraping it off if your nail. Peeling nail polish will damage your nails because it peels off the layers of your nails. Pure acetone can dry your nails out, but applying a bit of nail oil or even lotion after( must be after to help your polish last) polishing will really help your nails get some of that moisture back. Pure acetone is much better than regular nail polish remover (the colored stuff that says it has special oils in it) because it works faster, and doesn't leave behind oils that will make your manicure chip or peel faster.

    • @bethneumann87
      @bethneumann87 6 років тому +9

      Lol nope! I love the look of it but I just don't have the patience to keep it up myself, nor the money to get it done regularly. On the rare occasion that I do it myself I get super artistic and creative, but it just ends up looking awful when it starts to come off and I don't care to fix it. Plus I work with horses and play the piano, and I feel like it just gets messed up from the get-go. Give me clean, neatly trimmed bare nails and I'm good to go!
      One thing that I do use though, and I can't remember the brand name at the moment, but have you ever tried those 3 or 4 sided tools they make? they have a side for buffing, something else that I can't remember (it's been awhile since I've used mine) and a side for polishing. You use each side in a circular motion over each nail for 20-30 seconds, starting with buffing and ending with the polishing. Your nails look shiny exactly as if you were wearing clear nail polish but without the upkeep and feel of polish, and it lasts for about 3 weeks to a month. It's super easy and gets rid of those ridges and lines that you can get on your nails and makes them look healthy and neat without any nail polish.

    I can never maintain nail polish with how active and clumsy I am so I just keep them filed and buffed so they look polished and put this oil on my cuticles. I do paint my toes though. I used to get my nails done with acrylics but 99% of nail polish has toxic chemicals in it too. I use toxin free polish on my toes that's also cruelty free.

    New subscriber here! To me, one of the worst mistakes is wearing a palette that clashes with your skin/hair undertone. Once I discovered my palette I completely transformed my wardrobe, it's amazing how better your buying-decisions are once you understand what works for you, regardless of current trends. You will never see me wear a light blue or a cool hot pink top now, and those are colors I used to wear (and washed me out terribly).
