Have noticed you don't use "snap" that often in these tutorials, I think it'd be a good thing to teach - I find it very helpful, especially for aligning to the grid - could have been used to make sure the bottom level UV sphere's were exactly touching the plane.
Also, shift+F would be a good thing to tell people, would have made changing the missing bit of plane in the bottom right corner take a couple of seconds.

@LuiDeca if its not working then Im not really sure why. you sure you held shift then pressed c while doing it? this is blender 2.5 right?
