A refinement of an earlier comment: The UA-cam titles don't show the difference between 2.4 and new 2.5 Tutorials in searches and suggestions. Put the "2.5" earlier in the title, so we can tell your 2.4 "Fourth" tutorial from the 2.5 "Fourth Tutorial". Suggest, as example, Super3Boy's Third 2.5 Tutorial... then, it'll easily be searchable and discernable from the first Super3Boy's Third Tutorial.
GREAT WORK, and hope to learn 2.5 under your wonderful tutelage!!!

You can move the fly mode view by clicking the middle mouse button and moving the mouse at the same time. Btw great videos, they help a lot.

Also subds work best with quads (4 edged faces). For areas where there are tris, delete the edge dividing 2 tris and now you have a quad. Great for polar areas. Also If you render, you will not get a smooth surface because you need to also set the Shading under Object tools to Smooth. It's the tool bar to the left. Press T if it's not there to unhide it.

@richmeister4eva Yeah. I do it half as big, because i really don't want to show it that big. You need to be able see the details and text, so I just keep the the size of a standard UA-cam window.

Ctrl + 1 (division level 1), Ctrl + 2 (division level 2), etc upto 5. Ctrl + 0 to return to no division.

@super3boy Thank you for the link Super. Though I've voted for you to stick with the tutorials. I would like to learn how to make a computer game with it... though I think it would be more difficult for people who are new to blender to do so with the drastic change in layout and such. So keep the new tuts coming :D. Though you need to get that game tut done one day... or I'll be up set lol.

@PackersFan4evr There are generally 4 -5 stages of software development
Pre-Alpha: basic code and structure. Lots of bugs
Alpha: like pre, but with more features. Also lots of bugs
Beta: Most features are there, still a few bugs
Gamma: (This isn't a common phase in the open source world) the software is done, but it hasn't been released.
Final release: The soft has been finished and released, most bugs are gone.
I think this is correct. tell me if i'm wrong.

is there an option in blender to "unsmooth" object? i mean: when you have a smoth objject like nurbs model or surface from solid works and you want to give it some edges, more specific instead having smooth surface - get poligonal objejct?

  • @AstroGnomical

In 2.49, you could choose how much the subsurf affects the object by hitting ctrl + e in edit, but in 2.5, I can't seem to find that feature, and I have to use an excessive amount of polygons to get semi-sharp edges. is there a way to do that better?

Tut, what ever happened to those "Create a game : tutorials" hey Super?... got me all excited for nothing... ho well, good tutorial here... though nothing much I don't already know about blender... I guess that the old tutorials are a little out of date with the layout and every thing. Anyways my cousin has started up with blender and I've recommended these tuts.

OS has almost nothing to do with performance! Your processor is a piece of crap, which also has almost no part in Blender, or any graphical rendering system. It depends of your video card, which laptops usually don't have good ones. So sarcastically thank whoever bought the laptop for getting a computer NOT meant for gaming.
