One of the classic TV westerns from the era of classic TV westerns. Top lead actors and a strong supporting cast. The guest star is John Denher, himself a pretty top supporting star in a bunch of western movies and TV shows. He played good guy and villain alike.
Thanks for PUTTING THE ENTIRE EPISODE, FROM INTRO MUSIC TO FINAL CREDITS, on for our pleasure! MANY other jerks put on 30-40 minutes, or screw it up in other ways! NO POINT IN WASTING OUR TIME! THANKS FOR A COMPLETE EPISODE OF ONE OF THE BEST WESTERNS EVER!
Rawhide had excellent storylines and a great cast of guest actors and none more so than John Dehner, who appeared in so many wonderful films. I always remember his role in, ‘Last Train to Gun Hill’ with Kirk Douglas and Anthony Quinn.
Jim, sorry , I can't agree with you. Clint didn't start making it really big till he went off to Italy to make those great spaghetti westerns for Sergio Leoni. Sure glad he made that choice - bet he was too. If you haven't seen Coogan's Bluff you might give it a try. Pretty cool movie.
"Rawhide" is a Western song, written by Ned Washington and composed by Dimitri Tiomkin in 1958. Frankie Laine is the singer. Keep movin', movin', movin' Though they're disapproving Keep them dawwgies movin', Rawhide Don't try to understand them Just rope, throw and brand 'em Soon we'll be living high and wide My heart's calculating My true love will be waiting Be waiting at the end of my ride Move 'em on, head 'em up, head 'em up, move 'em on Move 'em on, head 'em up, Rawhide Cut 'em out, ride 'em in, ride 'em in, cut 'em out Cut 'em out, ride 'em in, Rawhide
I loved these sixty years ago. Made for peanuts with a small cast and minimal sets they relied on simple but well written plots and good acting. Could still be done today and the schedules could be packed with good dramas instead of one or two blockbusters and myriad repeats.
I've always wondered who owned all those movie cows AND who bought em after they had run all those miles and miles back and forth. They must have been pretty stringy gristly beef steaks. Maybe the NY strip I got at the "Cattleman" in San Antone in 1972. LOL
"Joan Ellis" Point well made. HOWEVER the lovely, ultra-feminine Jan Harrison dumping cold water or ice on series' heartthrob Clint Eastwood's bare chest would not be nearly as erotic and stimulating for the viewing audience in 1960 -- medical science be damned. Poor Ms. Harrison's character, Charity Wade, revealed to her angry, torn husband Jubal (character actor John Dehner essaying yet another excellent role), whom she screwed over running away with another man, self-proclaimed 'ladies man' Webb Church (Burt Douglas), "Jubal, I haven't got a penny." A true hardship for Charity and frustration for the "Rawhide" audience, THAT is the LAST we see OR hear of her. In order that evicted wife Charity isn't forced to resort to prostitution, what with no other means of support: 1) Could Gil (Eric Fleming) 'shame' Jubal Wade into at least giving her hotel charges and stage fare and a 'grub stake' so she can manage to 'get on her feet'? 2) Since Church had the benefit of partaking of Charity's charms both at her house and on the trail AND they were still on speaking terms upon the adulterous couple's return to the Wade compound, would he approach the other drovers and his bosses to ask them to chip in for a kind of 'charity case'? Most of those men know they'd do exactly what Church did if the unfulfilled, married-too-young, pretty wife took a shine to them. By displaying, and acting upon, a modicum of chivalry, Rowdy, Gil, Church and the others on this drive 'would sleep better' the remaining nights of the drive if they knew Charity Ward wasn't lost and getting raped out on the prairie or in some town's bordello turning tricks in order to have a roof over her head. Gracias, "Regis c," for presenting this 62-year old television treasure, "Rawhide" 'Incident of the New Start,' for an appreciative audience AND in its full-length, uncut form.
We have a meatworks in our city that kills and processes 1600 beasts every day work which means that after walking the herd of 3000 beasts to the Cedalia market for 10 months, they would all be killed and packed in under two days.

Yes - the theme song and the outro is a big part of this great show - only ignorant fools upload it without.
