That must be the cutest spider in the entire world! Absolutely adorable. Fantastic photography! Thank you so much for sharing with the world
Microscope Adventure Thanks for your comment
Microscope Adventure it's ironic because of your profile pictures
The maratus speciosus is even cuter
@@clockerwise31 -same thing, no...
How anybody could thumbs down this video is beyond reason. The time & effort just to film this would have been challenging alone. Thank you so much for your great efforts & video production & scientific educational value towards this amazing little Australian spiders !
I grew up in a farm and always learned to respect all forms of life. I've seen many different forms of courtship, but this one is THE best. Excellent job!!
I've been a spider fan my whole life and I have to say peacock spiders are my absolute favourite, they're such beautiful little creatures :) Thank you for sharing them with the world, and for being such a good friend to them
stabbyfairy Thank you, glad you like my work
Thank you for showing this video in your class. I wish I would be there as well. I do really hope that these videos contribute to educating people about spiders and change their attitude about them.
They are part of the jumping spider family, Salticidae. Glad you like the vid !
Got to be the coolest spider I have seen. Couldn't hep but punch the air and shout yes when he won his lady. So proud little man, so proud....
I'm so grateful that you had the patience and talent to do this! I would never have imagined them to be so expressive and charming. I learn something new every day... and the music choice is just inspired!
Haha, I love how cautious he is, because he knows this is life or death for him. She could take his life at any moment. These are so amazing, such great detail. I know you're the peacockspiderman, but I'd be interested to see the other unique life you could film in Australia.
Here in California, I have kept and fed little fuzzy faced jumping spiders, but they surely don't compare to your amazing Peacock Spider. An absolutely amazing video!
It's interesting how the male immediately knows if he got a dance wrong and backs off
It's called 'spider sense'. That's how Peter Parker could sense when to say or do what in order to please Mary Jane. :P
No wonder, they have so many eyes to watch the whole world around them and watch females reactions! :D Best observers on Earth? :)
These spiders are just soooo cute! They look like they have pipe cleaner legs!
I realy hate spider and they scare the shit out of me but your video make all the difference and i think the peacock spider will be the only one in the world to be the cutest spider i ever seen in my life thank you so much my artist soul is crying right now
Mrslionfort wonderful, thank you !
After watching these videos I look more closely at spiders now, and try to identify what kind they are instead of assuming they are all dangerous. A local jumping spider walked by this morning on the outdoor coffee table to case out a potted plant. We enjoyed observing how far and fast it could hop. Impressive! You are changing the way we think about spiders! Also, the still photos are absolutely beautiful. I hope you decide to sell copies sometime, or publish a Spider Calendar.
Holy cow, they're exactly like peacocks! hence the name. I never knew birds and spiders can be so alike. Makes me wonder what other species have similar traits to others
Oh, my gawwwwsh! It's soooo cute! It's like a love story, where the man keeps trying to find his true love and then it finally works. Then they have lots (and lots and lots) of babies!
one of the best things ive seen all week...love it!
Magnificent, can't get enough of these gorgeous spider films, so cool.
Dude! You're an amazing photographer. Love your videos!
Wow, just wow!!! I have been fascinated by these jumping spiders for a while, they are just so beautiful! But this is the first time I have seen this Peacock Spider. Incredible and just takes my breath away! Thank you!
great footage. similar to mating display/dances of bower birds, of paradise, reptiles, and some other animals. beautiful
guyglowmore1 agreed, and it seems nearly as intelligent as those mentioned.
Adorable! I love jumping spiders so much!
Whilst in India recently one hotel had only 1 TV channel (NatGeo) on which I discovered your Peacock spiders. Wonderful stuff, thanks for indulging your passion to bring these marvelous creatures to my attention, I will spread the word.
Thanks !
Totally agree with you. The work involved is substantial, but the rewards and satisfaction are totally worth it. Thanks for getting in touch.
Thank you for your appreciation. You are right, filming them is challenging, but also a lot of fun. I hope that in time these videos will change the public perception of spiders.
Absolutely amazing! Just beautiful. Reminds me of some birds of paradise! Great footage - glad he scored in the end after all his hard work!
wow, what a beautiful dance. He looked like a conductor mesmorizing his audience. Thank you for sharing.
Oh gaawd, I enjoyed this videos so much! specially this one hahaha, he's like 'look at meeee, I'm pretty! let me touch youuu' *shakes the butt*
Thank you for your lovely comment Kina. Indeed I feel quite lucky to have come across these spiders a few years ago, they have certainly changed my life and I am looking very much forward to the start of the next spider season in September. You are right, these are members of the jumping spider family Salticidae
Beautiful work! Tail looks just like a snake head when viewed head-on.
Jumping spiders are seriously my favorite things ever, your videos just made my day! Wish we had some this beautiful in MN.
Such pretty and interesting critters. Can't imagine how difficult this is to capture. Thank You. :)
Fantastic video, amazing photos.
Thanks Brian
Thanks Brian
These are amazing films. I had never heard of the peacock spider before, but they are really spectacular. I'm pleased to see that at least one of them gets his girl. You would think that the female spiders could have evolved a little more discernment to realize they are being courted by a suitor rather than a potential meal!
Barry Baker Thanks Barry, you be pleased to know that you are not the only one who had never heard of these animals, this is a common reaction. When I found my first one in 2005 not a single picture of these spiders' display existed, let alone any video footage. As a result of my videos and photographs, and my scientific work that I publish together with David Hill, these spiders have of course become a lot more popular now, but these are stars whose time is still to come. Another few years and these will be as popular as koalas and kangaroos
Jurgen thanks a lot of lending us your photo of the peacock spider to the AMNH Spider show. I'm the designer who worked on that photo, dazzling. cheers
Spiders are amazing animals that do so many amazing things. :) I showed the peacock spider videos in my biology class and everyone was astonished, some even had a new appreciation for spiders. :)
PEACOCK...I am a spiderman too. I have been fascinated with jumpers in particular since I was a boy. I'm 54 now. We have a lot of pretty ones here in Texas. Thanks so much for posting this video, it was a special treat. Merry Christmas from Texas and a Happy New Year.
- Blue.
Thanks, happy new year to you as well and good spider hunting in Texas
Thanks for sharing these unique spiders again. These always put a smile on my face.
Beautiful photography!! these have to be some of the most incredible creatures on this planet!! So complex! Kind of like a rooster rounding chickens up!
Thank you, much appreciated. The music is always a bit of a gamble, I am really glad that I seem to have chosen something that some people like.
Thanks Hannah, I agree that these spiders are perhaps more charming than others, but I hope that my videos in time will give the whole spider group a better name and people's affection might extend to others as well
the jumping spider was hypnotized with the dancing... amazing video!
Very cool! I feel sorry for the males, these are very finicky females here!! Yes, definitely fantastic photography and love the music you chose to mesh with it. Great job!
Thanks ! Music is always so tricky and I am glad I got this one right. Have a good day
Absolutely beautiful and amazing. Thank you so much for doing the work you do. Your videos have reignited my long-standing love for spiders ad I have been going out in my own garden with a magnifying glass looking for them. I didn't know they could be this gorgeous until I saw your videos. Thank you once again!!
Great to hear you like my videos. good luck with exploring your garden !
Showed up in my recommended list, first I heard about them. Of that's cool! Love the dance it displays!
🖤🕷🖤
This are some of THE BEST videos on youtube ! thank you *VERY* much.
So gorgeous! I absolutely adore all these videos. I'd love to see a peacock spider with my very eyes someday :)
Great work Jürgen! Compliments!
Glad you enjoyed it and thank you for letting me know about the music. For the moment this remains the only version I will post though
This is an amazing video! Nature is unbelievable in its scope and variety. Thanks for sharing on You Tube!
You are the kind of people this movie is for. Now all you need to do is to spread the word that spiders are not all that bad
One of the things that I find wonderful, a lot of spiders are very good mothers.
Mary Carricaburu totally agree, must be surprising to many
Learned about peacock spiders from Bug Fables. So glad I did too, because these guys are amazing lol
Beautifully captured !
I Love to see these films that you make of these phenomenal little creatures. The males put such a lot into their displays.. n have to be So Careful about judging their approaches to the females.. don't they?? Some of them here are definitely looking a little worst for wear!! Those females are So Big.. n So Grumpy-looking!!!
Thank You for this little glimpse into another world from here in the South of England xxx Great choice of music again.. it fits right in as it gets going. Cheers!!
AWWWWWW hes wiping his little eyes! Cute overload!
I like recording jumping spiders myself, and coming from one who records jumping spiders, I have to say your videos are very impressive. I know the work you have to go thru to get the footage you do, jumping spiders can be very hard to deal with at times when trying to get some good footage them, especially the small jumping spiders. But even though it can be frustrating at times, I still love recording the little the guys and the reward is great when it's finally completed.
Thanks guys ! I thought in hindsight, that I should have included some orchids instead of Canola, sorry about that, perhaps next time. I still hope though this video will make some more people wanting to come to the Stirlings and stay in the Stirling Range Retreat.
My god they're ADORABLE! Really nice macro work, thanks for sharing!
really, sublime
Thanks Katelyn, I am sure your love for these charming creatures and all spiders will only gorw
This was amazing footage. Thanks for capturing this
The similarity to birds of paradise is indeed very striking. I would have never imagined that spiders existed who have such similar courtship.
Glad you liked it, and congratulations on spotting Maratus, but be warned, these spiders are seriously addictive :) I will reply to your questions separately
there's many varieties of cute spiders worldwide. all you have to do is observe and appreciate them. they often put on quite a show. have learned many good things from watching spiders
"andddd WALA!
BEHOLD...
BEHOLD..
WALA..
I AM BEAUTIFUL.. "
*dance dance dance
That was awesome! I didn't think spiders were advanced enough to do mating displays. Very cool.
Seriously, this is like the spider version of every Kpop video I've ever seen.
+me68206 now, if we could just get like, 12 of them to dance at the same time..... >_< ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
i luv the peacock's spider's eyes!! they're sooo cute! and sometimes, when they're lifting their arms, they look like they're doing the Crane =D
this is awsome !!!!
i didnt even know such spider existed... i knew jumping spiders always had cool looks. but this one just beats anything i have ever seen :D
just awsome !!! nature rocks!
i like the part when he backed up with his arms up could you imagine him screaming running backwards lmfao very amazing quality and great pictures very educational thumbs up from me!
I'm terrified of spiders and usually cringe whenever I'm watching a video about them, but I couldn't stop laughing throughout this video! I found it sooo funny
Wow - Fantastic! Did you notice how the sides of the colorful-display-part gets folded down further, the hornier he gets lol!
Why do they put their little hands on the females head? These videos are so much fun to watch and the spiders are so cute!!!
whispergirl77 Good question. I guess after so much dancing and getting closer and closer the male has to do a final check about how the female feels about mating. It is this touch which gives him certainty. I haven often seen them touching the female in that way but then retreating again, as if they feel the female is not quite ready. But then they reproach her and in most cases eventually they will mate. It is certainly an intriguing behaviour
I agree, these are pretty hard to beat. They really come alive in video.
i didnt even know this kind of spider existed :D awesome!
Amazing Spider Dance!
Look at me ! Look at me ! This is so cool. Thank you Peacockspiderman.
You are most welcome. I would love to see the exhibition myself, but too far to go. I hope it gets a lot of visitors
All of your videos are amazing. You mentioned in one that there is no footage of them in any documentary. That really is amazing. How is it that no one has thought to put something so unique on t.v.? Stunning animals.
Thanks Chris. When I found these spiders in 2005 there were pretty much unknown. It is only because I started to photograph and film them that the world has learned about them. Pretty amazing that prior to 2005 there was not a single picture anywhere of a male peacock spider displaying. It is only now that TV stations such as the BBC have become aware of them.
Isn't this a part of the jumping spider species? I think it looks obvious to a lay person like me who happens to love jumping spiders, they are SO cute and seemingly intelligent!? YOU are SO lucky to have gotten this first film of a mating dance! Wow, you must be overjoyed. LUCKY! Great camera, and probable skill on your part, thanks for sharing that beautiful spider!
Amazing! It's kinda romantic how he lands hes hands on her head slowly . Hehehe
Ein tolles Video! Ich vermute es ist eine Springspinne, das war es auch schon. So eine hab ich bisher noch nie gesehen. Welch tolle Farben!
I agree, the rear view is not as impressive but...interesting. The colours are the result of all those scale which refract the light. Its stunning to watch in sunlight.
I am absolutely terrified of spiders, (searched spiders on youtube as a masochist) but I can't deny this is very beautiful. Congratulations on your wonderful footage.
I like to show these videos to my friends who don't like spiders. Most of them are willing to make an exception for these little guys, haha.
I keep imagining them saying:
"B!tch, I'm FABULOUS!"
This is wonderfull. Nice footage and the music fits it just perfect. Good job
the pose it makes when showing of its pattern is like "take a look at this bro"
Wow! Amazing films! Well done!
Great video. We look forward to you visiting with us again.
The Staff at The Stirling Range Retreat
What an adorable break-dancin' spider!
I'm not sure if it's creepy or cute but I can tell you that display is both awesome and hilarious. I kind of want one.
Fenomenal... viva a NATUREZA
Thanks for being the first to comment. Glad you like my new movie, and the music to go with it.
What a amazing creature
What a way to get your mate!
It is truly amazing what one can find on You Tube. Not a fan of spiders, but this one is quite a beautiful + charming little fellow. Where are the folks who are responsible for catalogging + naming the new found creatures of this planet? Thank you for posting this video of a gem of a spider. Have a nice day.-------JP
I never thought I would ever say this about a spider, but aww, how cute!
