just found out Nitto Denko is making black heat shields. OEM approved. Bonds great! Looks great!
Hi bortlethetortle. We often hear about customers painting our aluminium heat shields black. We advice that this will dramatically reduce the effectiveness of the heat shield as the silver aluminium reflects most radiant heat but won't do this with a black surface where it will absorb radiant heat.
Thanks a lot Boss....love from India \m/
😎 👍
Can one block more heat then the other or are they both the same ? What are the temp drops of each ? And do you guys ship to the USA ?
When I drive it gets so hot in the front of my truck. I think I may need this. My truck isn't overheating but heck this may help me. How do I order? Sucky part is I gotta apply this with the parts still on.
I need that in my engine bay ASAP
😆👍
Cool video. Have you tried this on any marine applications? I'm doing a lot of research on best insulation . I'm needing to insulate my 26' Sailboat here in Dallas. Would love to hear any feedback...
Hi there guys, im building my Ls1 turbo in vx commodore and was wondering would this peel n stick be ideal for placing on the firewall to protect the brake line from the dump pipe heat?, and which product of yours would be good to mould a alternator heat shield..Cheers Fellas
Can you tell more about SST 321 heat shields?
How much clearance to exhaust headers would you recommend for this to be used? I would like to put this near my brake master cylinder but it quite close to my manifold in some areas?
Hi mate. I would allow for a minimum of 10mm clearance.
Can this be used inside on the floor board?
Hi CarBuilders, thanks for your great videos, & I hope this isn't a stupid question: for install of heat shield on the engine side of firewall, can you do it with the engine in place or does the engine need to come out first? (Trying to work out if it is achievable for me, I have a Ford Econovan 1995, cab over engine, lots of heat coming into cab). Thanks again.
Thank you for the positive feedback Jive Bellhouse. No, you don't need to remove the engine however accessibility is the issue. The most effective heat shield is the embossed heat shield as it is spaced off the sheet metal and has air flow between it and the panel, demonstrated in this cab over ua-cam.com/video/BT7wBNL_1Qw/v-deo.html If you can't fit a spaced off heat shield then you should look at the peel and stick. 😎👍
Thanks I'll check out that other video.
Does this reflect the heat back to engine side?
I know that shiny parts especially foils reflect back some heat to the object
Sub'd 👍
Will be lookin into this
Give us a call if you need any further advice 😎👍
Need block heat in my Chev 3500 express van Dog House engine cover. 7.4 ltr v8 puts out alot of heat.
Do you recommend. What do I order.
My turbo manifold and dump pipe have no heatshield i have been lookinh for one and was looking at the ally solution you guys sell but are reccomended to have it off the heat source this is going to be quite hard is it possible to have it touch in some spots without issue?
Thanks
Hi Mick. Sounds like one we need to talk through. Give us a call 03 8777 0960 👍
Can this be in direct contact with a exhaust manifold? Im trying to sandwich it betweem my intake manifold and exhaust headers on my jeep
Hi 33 Sosa. It does need a small gap to be most effective. By directly touching, it will create a thermal bridge. Also, at extreme temperatures it'll damage the product.
How well does it hold the water? I've heard of this stuff rusting out your panels
Hi Christopher. If you have a worry about trapped water, customers use our aluminium heat tape, silcon or seam sealer etc to seal off the open edges. The heat shields themselves obviously don't rust as they are aluminium 👍
How degrees can this withstand?
Looking to cool down the cockpit in a one off aluminum hot rod. This looks to be about as good as of a product as can be had, unfortunately I am in Southern California. Do you have any availability here, or can you recommend a product that may be available in the United States with similar properties? I love the needle punched feature of your product as so many heat shield products I see on cars are coming apart. I do not care about sound deadening properties, only heat reduction in the cockpit.
Hi Greggory. We are currently at SEMA and are looking to be in US soon. However, if you email us at sales@carbuilders.com.au with the product you are after and your shipping details we can organise a quote that includes shipping. These products aren't too heavy and can normally be shipped quite reasonably to the US. 👍Adrian
@@carbuilders1 Do you have shelf space in the USA yet in 2023? I am in the process of replacing my 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 headliner: I would like to reduce the heat transfer and sound in my truck. It has taken me 3 1/2 years to identify all points of failure where water leaks inside my truck! One mechanic in my town was willing to help repair my truck - he earned my auto service for life, I consider myself lucky because Brian is a Mechanical Wizard! This is my effort ua-cam.com/play/PLGVI8bUyFEzocJ30KmoN9S-Mu94CmPWx0.html
If i put this on my car windows, will it keep my car warmer in the winter while I'm hot boxing?
It will when used in conjunction with accessory (pat.pending. Warm n stiff). Simply attach hose to exhaust, plumb to rear quarter panel and attach to the special window adapter. Start vehicle and run at fast idle. Enjoy.
Yes, 1980 fj40 Toyota LandCruiser
👍Is there a reason why you only want to treat externally? Have you watched our Troopy Install? (obviously different model but same strategy) ua-cam.com/video/wLm11KVyq7Q/v-deo.html You can use a paint to deaden the panel externally however that covers only stage 1 of the treatment (would replace the butyl mats). You then need to try and blanket out the noise, internally we use a foam or a more heavy duty treatment is the mass load vinyl.
Not special reason, just trying to get the cabin the quiet as posible. Thanks.
👍👍Give us a call on Monday if you have more specific questions
my friend what is the exact name your product can you till us because i need this one, thanks
I have a silly q...suppose you use heat shield and carve it in the form of the car windows...do you think it would be effective at helping keeping a parked car cooler than say those cheapo ones from Kmart? (Ie on the interior of the car)
Haha. I think it would act similarly if placed inside the car as both will reflect. For it to work, you would need to have it on the outside (heat facing) with an air gap.. not too practical.
@@carbuilders1 true...because the light heats the glass and the glass heats the air.
hi,,i see you have a foam as well, what you recommend for a van with internal engine lid
Hi Chris, we use a Peel and Stick Heavy under these lids as they as generally flat 👍
I need this for my ek3 civic. How to order though?
Hi Etaki. If you are in Australia you can order from our website, www.carbuilders.com.au/ If you are overseas, please email sales@carbuilders.com.au with what product you are after and your shipping details and we can send you a quote for the items with delivery. 👍
I placed one on my hood iss it safe?
You should really have included a link to each of your mentioned products in the video description.
Thank you for the feedback Arpus. We will do that from now on. All products in the videos can be found here www.carbuilders.com.au/ 👍
@@whoeverwhatever9279 i think i'll take the thin piece of shit too
Wouldn't that be just reflecting heat back in to engine?
Yes... that is the point. You put it on the firewall and floor to keep heat out of the inside of your car. Also protects the paint on the hood (bonnet) of your car from the extreme heat coming from the engine. Turbo and race engines make a lot of heat...
Available in Malaysia. I would like to install at Land Rover
Hi KANTAN. If you email us at sales@carbuilders.com.au with the product that your interested in and your address we can get a quote to you.👍 www.carbuilders.com.au/underbody/heat-shields/
Can I apply it on the roof to resist heat?
Hi Saneesh. Yes, you can however it won't be as effective as facing the heat source. Manufactures such as Ford use these shields internally on the floor pan. You also have the chose of Insul Layer or Van Liner (www.carbuilders.com.au/van-liner) which is a thick closed cell foam which will act as a decoupling layer and slow heat transfer 👍
Hello will it stick to a plastic water tank under vehicle
Hi Edward. Yes, it will stick to plastic. Just ensure you clean with wax and grease remover. 👍
Guys.! I have a Ford ecosport . Heat from the exhaust creep into the surface of my boot (trunk ) of my car. If I use the material which u show in the video will it help to reduce the heat..,?
Hi Srikhanth. Yes, this will significantly reduce heat through the boot. You would stick the peel and stick heat shield on the underbody of the car, facing the exhaust. Another option which is probably even more efficient is our exhaust heat shield www.carbuilders.com.au/ehs_k 👍 If you are in Australia you can order from our website, www.carbuilders.com.au/ If you are overseas, please email sales@carbuilders.com.au with what product you are after and your shipping details and we can send you a quote for the items with delivery.
@@carbuilders1 thanks for the quick reply..
whats R factor ot Kfactor?
If you want a cooler cabin, or trunkcompartment, shouldn't the aluminium side be towards the source of heat?..Sunheat for instance
Hi E55V8. Yes, this will result in the most effective resuts. Check out a more recent video we completed ua-cam.com/video/ESo2yid89bQ/v-deo.html 👍
@@carbuilders1Thank you
Will it stick to a underseal?
Sorry for the slow reply James. What underseal is it? May the easiest way to answer you is by giving us a call 03 8777 0960 👍
Is it available in the UK
Hi Martin. We are looking to establish retailers in the UK. However, at this stage we are shipping just our lighter items to the UK, which includes the peel and stick heat shields. Shoot through an email to admin@carbuilders.com.au and we can provide a quote including shipping.
Can I get this shipped to new Zealand?
Hi Sheehan. Yes, go to our website www.carbuilders.com.au or please email us at sales@carbuilders.com.au with your order and address details and we can arrange a quote for you 👍
Can i isolate my engine and my air intake with this?
Hi Adib. Do you mean insulate? Yes, you can insulate those areas from heat with this product. 👍
Need this where can I get it to buy
Hi Ogonna. You can find these products here www.carbuilders.com.au/underbody/heat-shields/
Which brand is the best?
Hi m valentino. We might be a bit bias with our response 😉www.carbuilders.com.au/underbody/heat-shields/
Hi I need that in my engine bay can you please provide a link as to where to purchase it . thank you
Hi Wyatt. You can find them here www.carbuilders.com.au/underbody/heat-shields/ 👍
What brand is this product
Hi SouthernOFFROAD. This is Car Builders www.carbuilders.com.au/underbody/heat-shields/ 👍
Does it reduce noise?
Hi Nelson. It will have some sound dampening effect with the needle punched fibreglass with a polyester core. However, there are materials/applications that will have a more effective impact on sound reduction. 👍
Which material it proper to apply on that side of the fire wall for noise reduction?
Is it engine noise that you are trying to dampen?
What vehicle are you playing with?
Make no sense why anyone want to keep heat under the hood why?... heat need to escape from the hood.. why would you want it to be hot in there?..
This doesnt tell us shit. It just compares YOUR products and how theyre installed. Nothing about "what's best"
