- It Ain't Half Hot Mum was a British sitcom about the adventures of a Royal Artillery Concert Party, broadcast between 1974 and 1981, and written by Jimmy Perry and David Croft, the creators of Dad's Army. It was set in British India and Burma, towards the end of the Second World War.
Am Indian but I just cant help but love this. It's bloody amazing. Wish they had more of this series. It's too good.
I base my parenting on this.
"Daddy I want an icecream!"
"Oh dear, how sad never mind"
SHUT UP!!!!!!
Never in all of my life have I ever seen such a blatant display of poofery
LOL you scream at your kids like this? 😂🤣
Windsor was made for this role, bloody marvelous
'Its very hot sgt major... Especially for the time of year, YOU!!' The la de da gunner graham impersonations always crack me up!
Lovely
......I am old enough to have met real Sgt majors just like him.....so accurate in mannerisms and barely suppressed rage @
John Wyatt I know a few myself John and yes it the norm for a British Army Sgt Major. They were all the same lol
John Wyatt Today's gentler kinder army would not allow such brutish behaviorit might give the lads a complex
Same here including Corporals !
I think just about everybody older than five has, at least, heard them from at least a mile away.
The Indian saying "It makes me proud to be British reminds me of landing at Heathrow a few years back. There was a couple of Indians past customs that met passengers saying "Welcome to our country..."
I had forgotten how funny this series was. I loved Windsor Davies.
I watched this as kid in the 70/80's for one reason & one reason only lovely boys.. For Windsor Davies!
The Yanks had R. Lee Ermey, we had Battery Sergeant Major Williams, a.k.a Windsor Davies. Wonderful. :)
I heard from a workmate who’d served in the Guards (Blues and Royals Regt.) that W. Davies was made an honourary member of the Warrant Officers mess of the Welsh Guards Regiment.
I used to watch this as a kid, still love it,classic stuff.
The world today needs BSM Williams.
Really sad Windsor hasn't been seen much on TV last years. Tv royalty and British gem. Get him on before too late!
Unfortunately he retired in 2004 :(
He died just this year
Rest in peace Windsor Davies
RIP WINDSOR DAVIES.
Windsor Davies best of British
So glad i didnt have him when i did basic training. Then again, my corpral was a gurkha, he would never shout, but he would whisper something so scary into your ear, you wish he DID shout!
😁
Fan-bloody-tastic! Windsor Davies was superb as BSM Williams. Fantastic British comedy at its best.......before the lefty PC brigade destroyed this country. Brilliant actors, all of them. Should still be on the telly!
Geez..
Geez.
Geez..
Geez.
Geez..
Geez.
Geez..
Geez.
Geez
I'm still waiting for it to have a re-run. It's not lefties but the ABC these days which is terrified of offending the sensibilities of the prudish in the community who will write in and call themselves "Disgusted Mother of Ten". Life was so different then.
I find this is very offensive. The constant ridicule directed towards a senior nco is totally unacceptable in my opinion.
A BSM to be proud of.
r.i.p. windsor davis another legend gone.
The cadence is fantastic, "tand at eiase! ten-shoun!"
Land of hope and glory.... mother of the sea- SHAAAAAAAAAADDDAAAAAAAPP!
this guy can beat the sun in a stare contest
How about Ron Mael? ;-)
R.I.P major Davis ❤
I grew up watching this brilliant actor play the role of BSM Williams, fond memories galore...Sad to hear of his death in January this year, He was truly a Gentleman, 'Rest in Peace' Windsor Davies, 1930~2019.❤
Sergeant Major Williams vs Gunnery Sergeant Hartman (Full Metal Jacket).......would be a funny shout out match.
LEMME SEE YOUR WARFACE
Two different styles. Hartman wasn't intended as comedy.
@@Crazt He still pulled a few great lines though, and they were not even scripted because the actor playing Hartman used to be a REAL drill instructor. But I think that Williams would 'outshout' Hartman just by decibels. :)
A lot of BSM Williams is not really "humour" ....just saying
brilliant.watched every episode growing up.even got my mum to buy me a snake belt to keep my brummie bags up.
The snake belt on the turban was a classic
I had Battery Sergeant Majors with the same bearing, attitude and mentality as Windsor Davies.. in the 1980s..!
how much did he ''SHUT UPP'' you ? :P
Awesome guy!!
there has never been a better casting for a character in anything!
BSM Tudor Bryn Williams was the dominant figure in Perry-Croft sitcoms. Even Captain Mainwaring would have known his place in BSM Williams' presence.
I really need to watch more It Ain't Half Hot Mum...
But anyone else here remember him as the voice of Sergeant Major Zero in Terrahawks? ^_^
oh yes
“Land of hope and glo-reee , mudder of the fr…SHUUUDDDUUUUUUP!”
Gets me every time😂
RIP Battery Sergeant Major Windsor Davies.
I met him in full get up back in the early Eighties in W Germany.. it was a memory i'll never forget shame I wall only a preteen back then, never got to fully appreciate it..
OMG! Sooooo hilarious!!!!! WD is so funny!!!
wow what a voice, i remember, as a little kid. seeing this on tv. lol : P

"WHAT THE 'ELL'S GOING ON?!"
Creases me up every time
Shaaaaaadaaap, Mister laadeedaa Gunner Graham
Sgt Major Williams. Master shouter
You would think that this part was written for him and him alone.
Oh dear, how sad, never mind.
Windsor Davies is incomparable as drill sergeant, the only only coming closer is Anthony Sagar's drill sergeant Gregory in Dad's Army episode Room at the Bottom. /watch?v=DqKrjPrBZL8 (3:27)
+mallubhai0MBBS 'SHUT UP!'
Get hold of a book called The Trial of Maximo Bonga. About an old WWII vet who runs a guest house worse than Fawlty Towers. Fantastic read.
this was the best shit ever, watched this yeaaars ago
Brilliant comedy...well before the days of PC!
Such a legend
Love it!
They are all lovely boys.
i love thisw show
Brilliant
that grin!!!!!!! lol
briliant
Windsor Davies is still alive, he was born 28 August 1930 so would be 81 now.
It Ain't Half Hot Mum and Dad's Army... Two legendary Brittish war-situated sitcoms by Jimmy Perry and David Croft... Too bad they never did a cross-over.
I think the 2 i/c was in the DA ep. where the platoon capture the German air crew in the church.
Michael knowles was in Dads army and Are you Being Served. I like everything he utters in Aint half hot mum. So funny. ‘Oh i am a fool’. 😁
Not much whispering here on The BSM's grass.
"DEFY THE SUN!!" BSM williams was the best
Thx.....fucking brilliant
A thousand RSM's and they still ain't broke the bloody mould lol

Took me forever to figure out where I'd heard that saying from.

Move it move it lovely boys
Reminds me of my old drill sargent
standing around here drinking tea... well i w...SHUT UP!!!!!!
@Raptorex29 Windsor Davies is still alive, he was born 28 August 1930 so would be 81 now.
What puzzles me is why they address him as sergeant major ,only officers would call him that ,the correct form would be to call him sir
I was in the Artillery in the early fifties ,we calledBSM,s sir
warrant officer class 2 is referred to by adress "sargeantmajor or commonly sarmajor .warrant officer class one is the singular noncommisioned rank referred to as "SIR" this is NZ army. Battery Sag Major (arty)=Company Sar Major (infantry)

It's just a TV show. Not meant to be a documentary on the military
Windsor Davies must have been permanently hoarse after each episode's bellowing! How did any of them keep a straight face? PS: I did notice some having a problem with it...
i had a pe teacher like windsor davis rugby fanatic with his teeth facing inwards like a shark!
The loudest voice on the web! 😂
im a cub leader... and guess how i run the cubs !! :P they are really well behaved for some reason!!
Why don't they make good stuff like this any more,
Delightfully un-PC!
Lovely Boys
Gunner Sugden lied about his height.
Drama name ?
I was in the armed forces and had a commander like him lol
Why do they carry the stick? What is it for. ?
@@jessiejames7492 no reason other than a symbol of authority..like a scepter to a king I suppose
@@naytch2003 thank you. 😁
how this show survived its first season and didn't get cancelled half-way thru I'll never know. Good thing nobody outside Blighty knows about this show, so the reputation of British TV remains untarnished.
What is he saying at the 2:40 mark when he is addressing the troops???
"Stand at ease, attention, stand at ease, attention, stand at ease, attention..."
Great actor. Is he still alive?
3:34 SHUT UP!!!!
XD
will someone please make a remix from this part 2:28 to 2:35? it's just too funny :D
@Factnotfictionpeople There are many indian characters in this series who have been shown to be smart. This is just humor so i wish people take it in the same sense. Want to own this entire series on DVD.
And to think he was a teacher before he pursued an acting career.
Windsor Davies is a gay icon now.
4:45 XD
RIP
Sergeant Major Williams would have R. Lee Ermey's Drill Sergeant from Full Metal Jacket crying like a little girl!
H'of this I am shewer!
3:06 lol
lovely boys xd
Quite right... you know it, I know it... yet in abbreviation BSsM doesn't work! ;)
