If Fantano asked this question to me I would respond with this same take. That album is an absolute modern classic and almost every song is so memorable and fire. The following was also awesome but a lot harder to digest and retain. The new singles have been very good but the writing feels more naive in comparison to Choose Your Weapon. I love Hiatus Kaiyote ❤

honestly, even if choose your weapon were a 10 theres no there aren't others, especially in the genres that like..heavily inspire their sound. I definitely think he's just playing it up for the video
I rate my albums 50% on how much I like them and 50% on how “objectively” good i think they are. My #2 album is songs in the key of life, and tho thats a much more legendary album, and the songs on it are better than hiatus’s, the existence of even one track that isnt 10/10 means the album cant be 10/10. My reasoning is that cyw is the only album that ive ever listened to where every single song is pure bliss. Its also very important to me that there is consistency either tonally, thematically, or some other general aesthetic, which there totally is in cym, and many of the songs transition beautifully from one into another. Also just wanna say, every song is so unique and while their inspirations are definitely noticable, they are so clearly their own thing, that theres nothing that i could say that they’re derivative from. In my mind, there is no album as bulletproof as this one, and theres no album like this one. And this is j my opinion. Im not saying its the best album ever, what i am saying is its pretty freakin good, and it personally sounds great to me.
