A Yorkshire Lad - Steve Clark - 25 Years and counting...

  • This video is about a Sheffield Yorkshire Lad named Steve Clark.
Steve spent his life creating music, whether it be writing, singing, playing, or performing. He is legendary in that the songs he wrote with the band Def Leppard have given pleasure to millions of people- Def Leppard fans or not. Unfortunately for us...Steve died at the top of his career at the young age of 30 years old. This day January 8th 2016 marks the 25th year of his passing. I wanted to do something special in his memory, and though I had bigger plans and expectations for a tribute - this is the best thing I could come up with on my own. The photos in here are from my own scrapbooks- I picked a bunch you haven't seen before and there are more where these came from! I hope you enjoy sharing some of the heartfelt memories that Steve and I shared. Please be gentle in your comments- especially where others are pictured or involved...everyone deserves respect and so do you. If you don't have anything nice to say- write it down and then burn it...send it back to where it came from and go back to your loving nature...it is there in the loving energy field that Steve still exists.
I hope you don't mind my singing the song I wrote at the beginning. - it was a way for me to heal myself through the cathartic practice of streamline writing.
    Blessings to all...Lorelei

I still cry on Steve Clark videos. Just knowing how much talent he had and then passing away from us too early. I'm still confused about why I cry. I was born in 1999, 7 years after his passing. I'm really glad I discovered who Steve Clark was, because he was the main reason I began playing the guitar.

I was born in 82 but it's lovely how many younger people love Steve. it just goes to show how special he was, and still is. my son and daughter like Def Leppard too, he's 17 in 9 days and she's just turned 12. I expect Steve to go on having younger fans as time passes.... gone to soon, bless him x

Steve Clark is one the most underrated guitar player ever. His death was sad/tragic. Everytime I look at his pictures, I can feel the sadness thru his eyes. (My dad wasnt the greatest also when growing up) Without Steve Def Leppard would have never gotten were they are at. Thank you so much for sharing this video.

He really was the soul of Def Leppard imo. Fantastic player and songwriter. Seemed like a great person too. His demons just got the best of him unfortunately. Would have been cool to meet him.

I grew up listening to steve playing, his style was so his own. I love the way he used different chords, and put them in different progressions. I'll be 41 this year, I picked up my first guitar in 84 or 85 because of high and dry because of Steve and Pete. I believe Steve never realized how much of an impact his playing had on the world. it really saddened me to learn how his father treated him through out his life, Steve was a gentle soul and far ahead of his time.. THANK YOU so much for posting this. it must have been pure agony for you to watch him slip away.. much respect to you, again thank you for the glimpse into his life....

Remember tapes. I was completely blown away & saved up for high n dry & on through the night. I spent many years pretty much only listening to def leppard. I was heart broken when rick lost his arm & devastated when steve passed as a 16 year old. Crazy how the universe works. I'm now playing guitar and just bought my 1st electric. A les paul classic in tobacco sunburst. I named him Steve clark. I spent all day today trying how to learn switch 625. Life as a drummer full circle. Learning how steve played his root notes on the 3rd and was a theory genius will change how I play guitar. I'll never forget waiting all day and being 15th in line to get into arco arena and see Def Leppard and Tesla in Sacramento. The hysteria tour was magic for a 16 kid. Gone but never for gotten. R.i.p Mr Clark.

This vid only shows how inloved they were.
Just cant imagined how devastated and even more sad steve was when lorelei end things between steve and her.
Its just so sad that he decided to find someone new instead, and that NEW understood him pretty well... well enough coz they shared the same vices. TOO Bad for STEVE!
He end up just like that. He doesnt deserve to die just like that. So sad he left someone that really loves him more than anyone else!😭😢😭😢

Thank you so much for sharing your memories with Steve with us! I'm so sorry for the lose you sustained, I know it's been 25 yrs. but it really doesn't get any easier when you lose a loved one, you just learn to make room for it in your life. I just lost my brother to to alcoholism on May 8th of this year, I know how much more painful it makes it when you lose someone to something as horrible as alcoholism. I believe it is one of the worst diseases in the world! Once again thank you so much for sharing with us!

Dear God! What a deeply personal and touching Tribute for Our Steve's 25th anniversary homegoing~I so appreciate hearing you sing your song to him Lorelei; the Parisian background where the two of you spent so much time together, along with the "french-flair" background music moved me to tears. I am positively a "hot mess" now!
I hope somehow, someway, Steve knows how incredibly loved he was and Is--I hope he knows that he left an outstanding legacy--that his band, Our Boys, #DefLeppard play on and show no signs of stopping!!
I hope he knows that he might've just been "a Yorkshire lad" at heart; but he became #TheRiffMaster
    #TheLegend
    #SteaminSteve #WhiteLightning #Smc
    #AlwaysLovedNeverForgotten.
    I love you both madly!!
    25 years gone~Forever in Our Hearts~

I'm in tears watching this. Steve is an idol to me. He's a top 3 influence on why I want to play guitar. He was so young, vibrant, and a kind soul. I still don't understand why the good people go before crappy people. My family has a dark history with alcohol addiction. His death touches me on another level. Watching a loved one slip into the depths of addiction is the worst thing possible. I send my deepest condolences to you. Steve's music will always live on in my heart and will always remain one of my favorite guitar players of all time. I sure hope to meet him one day. Rest In Heaven Steve. Legends never die.

First of all the song you sing shows you have a beautiful voice . Im middle aged now getting old lol . Def Leppard was one of my favorite bands growing up . Hysteria is my favorite song by them along with many more . Saw this video and thought i would watch it steve clarke was a very talented musician and it was truly sad when he died . Im a middle aged man who graduated in the mid 80s and was a huge fan of Def Leppard . Watching this reminds me how short life is and how it can be over in the blink of an eye . It also reminds me how important my relationship is with Jesus Christ and knowing him as my personal savior . This life and all of the fleeting treasures of the world dont last . But eternity is and where im going to spend it . Those who know Jesus Christ as their personal savior get to spend eternity in heaven with Jesus . Those who reject Jesus Christ according to Rev 20 vs 15 those names not found written in the book of life were cast into the lake of fire . The good news is salvation is a free gift you cant earn it and its not based on your conduct or works . Its based on Gods grace and the shed blood of his son Jesus Christ and knowing him Jesus as your personal savior . Once you have recieved the free gift of salvation you can never loose it . Steve clarke was a terriffic and great guitarist who had all the treasures of this world . I just hope he knew Jesus Christ as his personal savior no one knows that but him . If you confess with your mouth you are a sinner and believe on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ that he died for your sins and was resurected from the grave ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins and ask Jesus to come into your heart you will be saved . The Bible says all who call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved . I enjoyed this video always enjoyed Def leppard when i was younger just seeing this video reminds me how short life is and how important knowing Jesus Christ as savior is and makes me think of the verse what does it profit a man to gain the whole world but loose his soul . Im just a man a sinner saved by grace just hope some of you will stop and think about the greatest decision you will ever make in this life and its eternal consequences and where you will spend eternity heaven or hell those are the only two choices . God bless the lady who made this video im sorry for your loss Steve was a great musician as well as Def leppard part of my youth so long ago now the 80s . May God bless each one of you . Rip Steve Clarke ! John 14:6 and Jesus answered " I am the way the truth and the life . No one comes to the Father but by me " Jesus answered !

Bought my first Leppard album in '82 at JCPenny (if you can believe that) and it was High and Dry when I was 12. I was already a Zeppelin/Page nut and instantly recognized the connection that Steve had with Pagey. From that day forward I was a huge fan of Steve Clark and his playing. Back in the day when MTV played videos (gasp!) and Def Lep came on, or I would read about them in Hit Parader or Circus magazine; I would focus as much as possible on Steve and how he played, posed, leapt about, what he said, etc. I was more interested in his solos than Pete's or Phil's because I just thought Steve Clark was the bee's knees. It hurt my heart when I heard he had passed on and I think the world lost a wonderful musician and a great guy. Your video presentation was very touching Miss Lorelei.
