400-450 sounds about right. It lines up with inflation. Anything higher, and they will be sacrificing sales for individual profit per console, and that's not clever. Remember that inflation is so crazy that Sony actually INCREASED the PS5 price a while ago.

You forget about Nintendo target audience which is different to Sony and Xbox. Why would you price out your family oriented audience? You wouldn't. $350-400 seems to be a good price, any higher and you'll lose up to half your audience, especially with the current financial climate the world is in.

Take the base OG Switch price, adjust for inflation, then defy inflation, you arrive at $350. For casuals to be on board, it makes a lot of sense to anchor it to TV prices, which also defy inflation. Wii, DS, Switch all super affordable. OLED price shouldn't be a point of comparison. Nintendo wants even Lite owners to upgrade. Tariffs will be the wild card, but they are getting huge production discounts. The inflation narrative doesn't stick, or games would be $150.

I think it will be $400 because Nintendo always gets the prices for their systems as low as possible. It wouldn't make sense if Switch 2 was close to the price of a PS5. Keep in mind the Xbox Series S is $300 so I can't imagine Switch 2 costing more than $100 more than that, $350 sounds just as unlikely as $450 to me. $400 would be the least surprising price point.
Yeah, if it's $450-$500, that's definitely on the steep side. If Nintendo has a banger lineup, it should help considerably. However, if it's a lot of upgraded Switch 1 ports and third party games, I personally have no issue waiting until their catalogue is more fleshed out.
400 to 450 is around where I thought it be given it's still lower than other systems when first released and yet more expensive as a Switch sequel should be given the price of the OG hasn't really gone down to much. Given I still only have one switch and got it around 2018 I think it's about time to spend money for another system I will use for a decade basically. This is exactly what I’ve been saying. Many young people don’t mind be price gouged it appears (a lot of naivety). It’s not worth more than ps5 which is currently priced at $380. It’s old tech that’s a generation (or more at this point) behind.
I think that the Nintendo Switch 2 should be $400-$450. It will be cheaper than the PS5 and the Xbox Series X/S. We just had to wait til the Nintendo Direct in April to find out the price point of the Switch 2.

Ps5 digital is less than 400. Both the controllers and the hardware have more tech in them than the switch 2. No way in hell is it going to be more than 400. Should be priced appropriately at 350.

I'm torn. On one hand, they have to price it so that they can keep the same price for 7 years or and still be making profit when inflation goes up. On the other hand, they need to price it so that it's cheap enough for people to invest in this next generation and don't go, "ah well I'll just get a switch 1, it's cheaper and there's a tonne of great games for it anyway". This is the first time they've released a new console and it's been the ONLY console that Nintendo are doing. They have all their eggs in one basket, and this is a unique situation, so drawing conclusions from the past might not result in accurate predictions

@myral3880 for one, XB1 & PS4 was 4 yrs. before Switch and the switch was original with no competition. Nintendo has waited too late, 2025. The Switch 2 is the same as its predecessor via looks (iPhone to iPhone). Switch 2 is 5 yrs. late to Series X & PS5. Wii U was in the same generation as X1 & PS4 being a year apart in releases, I bought all 3 in 2012 & 2013. "XB prime" is next yr. & PS6 the next. Nintendo needs to discontinue the Switch 1. If not, it's gonna blow Switch 2 out the water. There is no reason to buy Switch 2 when Switch 1 is still awesome Sauce! Handheld competition is too strong in 2025 & beyond.

It's definitely $400. Inflation doesn't work linearly like that with video games. Games had been $60 for a looooong time. And now they are $70 but, I believe they should be more if adjusted for inflation. They only charge what they think they can get (supply and demand) and it depends on the price of the parts and stuff. Nintendo uses cheap out-of-date parts. $450+ seems unlikely. OLED was $350 at launch, but it's worth less now. Nintendo makes big bucks by not lowering the price. That profit margin keeps getting bigger. Switch 2 will release with out-of-date technology. It's a handheld device. Do not compare it to home consoles lol. Also it won’t have an OLED screen. I can’t see them upcharging a Steam deck.

GTA5 sold PS4s & XB1s back in 2013. In 2025, GTA6 will sell PS5s & Series X but a Switch 2 for $400 with Mario kart 8.5 vs no GTA6. Steam Deck & Rog Ally will have better online, 3rd party. I see the masses buying more Switch 1s this year bc of cross gen. MK9 will be on the Switch 1.
Something that don't help with 400 is that we don't live/hardly go near game stores and when we go to Walmart its expensive every time so NS2/Mario Kart will make it worse and I can't ask to get another NS2 and I can't ask for more joycons at just anytime.
I’m pretty sure that game stores will make a deal, like if you trade in your first Nintendo switch console or the oled switch which ever one you got you can get the switch 2 at half the price.

It's not going to be 450+. 400 would be my guess. They are still not competing with ps5 It depends on if they got any extra bells and whistles we have not seen at the direct like we need to see something worthy of a valid price tag of 450+ right now it's not there besides, they been heavily investing into this console even with the tariffs hitting and the inflation It still will hit a 400-429 price point. Nintendo are trying to capture even more of the market with big movie films, theme parks again, we would need to see something that wasn't leaked shown to really wow us at the direct.
In my head I'm preparing for it to be £449-£499. If it's around that mark I'll be happy. Everyone needs to remember that we are in the danger zone of rumors and leaks and we all need to manage our expectations. Disappointment only occurs because your expectations are not in the right place. They're absolutely not putting more umph in power. We love switch because it is portable. I don't look at it as a new console. I view it as a new handheld. That works for me because a new console that's slightly more powerful than a PS4 is atrocious, but a handheld that's slightly more powerful than a PS4 is delightful.
Let’s also consider sales taxes when looking at the price of Switch 2. Consider if Nintendo sells the Switch 2 at 449.99$. Then in a State like Arizona with a 5.6% tax rate the Switch 2 would be 475.18$ and in California with a 7.5% tax rate the Switch 2 would cost 482.61$. Now this is very close to 500$ for a Nintendo Switch 2! I think this could scare 😮 families and parents from buying a Switch 2 for their kids! If you add a game, that is closer to 600$ for a Switch 2 with an exclusive game to play. That is why I think Nintendo will sell the Switch to CLOSER TO THE 400$ price point. If they sell the Nintendo Switch 2 at 399.99$ then in Arizona it will cost 422.38$ and in California it would be 429.98$ as examples considering sales tax… this would keep the COST BELOW 500$ which means that a family would buy a Nintendo Switch 2 and a Game for close to 500$. Tariffs apply differently to different sectors. Politics aside, the tariffs being proposed are for mainly the electric vehicle sector (simplification)

I think that the Nintendo Switch 2 should be $400-$450. It will be cheaper than the PS5 and the Xbox Series X/S. We just had to wait til the Nintendo Direct in April to find out the price point of the Switch 2.

$450 is to much this is a family console if it prices them out they will wait on the sidelines. $399.99 would be a price most would willing to consider. If the prices starts to go into PS5 prices this will hurt sales not help sales.

I'm torn. On one hand, they have to price it so that they can keep the same price for 7 years or and still be making profit when inflation goes up. On the other hand, they need to price it so that it's cheap enough for people to invest in this next generation and don't go, "ah well I'll just get a switch 1, it's cheaper and there's a tonne of great games for it anyway".
This is the first time they've released a new console and it's been the ONLY console that Nintendo are doing. They have all their eggs in one basket, and this is a unique situation, so drawing conclusions from the past might not result in accurate predictions

@myral3880 for one, XB1 & PS4 was 4 yrs. before Switch and the switch was original with no competition. Nintendo has waited too late, 2025. The Switch 2 is the same as its predecessor via looks (iPhone to iPhone). Switch 2 is 5 yrs. late to Series X & PS5. Wii U was in the same generation as X1 & PS4 being a year apart in releases, I bought all 3 in 2012 & 2013. "XB prime" is next yr. & PS6 the next. Nintendo needs to discontinue the Switch 1. If not, it's gonna blow Switch 2 out the water. There is no reason to buy Switch 2 when Switch 1 is still awesome Sauce! Handheld competition is too strong in 2025 & beyond.

It's definitely $400. Inflation doesn't work linearly like that with video games. Games had been $60 for a looooong time. And now they are $70 but, I believe they should be more if adjusted for inflation. They only charge what they think they can get (supply and demand) and it depends on the price of the parts and stuff. Nintendo uses cheap out-of-date parts. $450+ seems unlikely. OLED was $350 at launch, but it's worth less now. Nintendo makes big bucks by not lowering the price. That profit margin keeps getting bigger. Switch 2 will release with out-of-date technology. It's a handheld device. Do not compare it to home consoles lol. Also it won’t have an OLED screen. I can’t see them upcharging a Steam deck.

GTA5 sold PS4s & XB1s back in 2013. In 2025, GTA6 will sell PS5s & Series X but a Switch 2 for $400 with Mario kart 8.5 vs no GTA6. Steam Deck & Rog Ally will have better online, 3rd party. I see the masses buying more Switch 1s this year bc of cross gen. MK9 will be on the Switch 1.
Something that don't help with 400 is that we don't live/hardly go near game stores and when we go to Walmart its expensive every time so NS2/Mario Kart will make it worse and I can't ask to get another NS2 and I can't ask for more joycons at just anytime.

It's not going to be 450+. 400 would be my guess. They are still not competing with ps5 It depends on if they got any extra bells and whistles we have not seen at the direct like we need to see something worthy of a valid price tag of 450+ right now it's not there besides, they been heavily investing into this console even with the tariffs hitting and the inflation It still will hit a 400-429 price point. Nintendo are trying to capture even more of the market with big movie films, theme parks again, we would need to see something that wasn't leaked shown to really wow us at the direct.
In my head I'm preparing for it to be £449-£499. If it's around that mark I'll be happy. Everyone needs to remember that we are in the danger zone of rumors and leaks and we all need to manage our expectations. Disappointment only occurs because your expectations are not in the right place. Look after yourselves and let's all enjoy a new generation of Nintendo launching instead of constantly focusing on negatives or even worse, potential negatives. ✌️
They're absolutely not putting more umph in power. We love switch because it is portable. I don't look at it as a new console. I view it as a new handheld. That works for me because a new console that's slightly more powerful than a PS4 is atrocious, but a handheld that's slightly more powerful than a PS4 is delightful.
Let’s also consider sales taxes when looking at the price of Switch 2. Consider if Nintendo sells the Switch 2 at 449.99$. Then in a State like Arizona with a 5.6% tax rate the Switch 2 would be 475.18$ and in California with a 7.5% tax rate the Switch 2 would cost 482.61$. Now this is very close to 500$ for a Nintendo Switch 2! I think this could scare 😮 families and parents from buying a Switch 2 for their kids! If you add a game, that is closer to 600$ for a Switch 2 with an exclusive game to play. That is why I think Nintendo will sell the Switch to CLOSER TO THE 400$ price point. If they sell the Nintendo Switch 2 at 399.99$ then in Arizona it will cost 422.38$ and in California it would be 429.98$ as examples considering sales tax… this would keep the COST BELOW 500$ which means that a family would buy a Nintendo Switch 2 and a Game for close to 500$. Considering Nintendo loves to market to families and kids… this is the sweet spot that doesnt scare away parents given the current economy and inflation. So I think the price will be 399.99$ on launch!
