Games are still coming out on OG, but there's already 150+ million OG Switches in the wild and Switch 2 is backwards compatible so new buyers don't miss out on those games. They are moving on, the old models might even get dropped sooner then I predict, and will need to be if they are really mass producing that many Switch 2 units. Nintendo has historically not raised console prices by more than $50USD from one gen launch to the next. The exception was the deluxe WiiU SKU (349.99), which launched $100USD more than Wii (249.99) but the base 8gb WiiU was only $50 more. However the $349.99 OLED Switch really makes me think $399.99 is in the cards. I expect the OLED to be discontinued and the price dropped to $279.99 to clear them out, likely they'll bundle MK8 just to sweeten the deal, maybe even Mario Odyssey in addition. The base Switch will probably drop to $249.99 again with MK8. Switch Lite may drop to $179.99. This utilizes the buy more and save more concept. I think it'll will be odd numbers not 150, 200, 250, etc this plays into psychology of numbers. I'm not an expert just based on what I've seen from Nintendo in my lifetime. They'll want the OLED to move so it'll get a larger price drop and be well enough below the $300 threshold making it very attractive for an upgrade or anyone buying a first system because it has a game or two included, they maybe gone by Christmas 2025. The $250 base model will give a clear delineation between console generations with a solid $150 gap in price compared to Switch 2. The Lite might also be out of production shortly if not already, as this has been the weakest selling SKU. It's price drop will be small in comparison because Nintendo will be encouraging people to bump up to the next higher SKU. I doubt a game will be included. Given it's age Nintendo could drop Switch prices more aggressively but with high inflation I doubt it. Currency fluctuations and tariffs make things more complicated and I feel like its very hard to anticipate what Nintendo has planned.
I would honestly want a higher price point if it means better build quality and much better performance than the original switch. I felt the lack of power for YEARS and it negatively affected my experience with the console. As much as people say graphics don’t matter, presentation is massively important. If I’m gonna have this thing for another 8 years, I’d rather it be as future proof as possible.
Outside of wii u and 3ds nintendo usually tries to keep there system somewhat affordable, If they keep that up this Gen we should see no more the $399.99 base if we're lucky get a $349.99 console and pack in mario kart bundle $449.99
I can see them doing the Mario kart bundle for release because that their number one game sales. And for the holidays they do a Mario bundle for the new Mario game. 😅
I’m planning on getting the Switch 2, but also keeping my switch oled just in case. I’ve heard a few negative things about the Switch 2, which is why I’m keeping my Oled for backup. I’m hoping the new Animal Crossing can play on the switch 1 as well just in case. That’s the game I’m really exited about!
Steamdeck base model is $400, but has gone on sale for $360 and $350. Add that with tech prices going down $350 would probably be the minimum and $400 as the expected.
Red flag for me on the $450 mario kart bundle is that there would be a discount on that bundle. Fully expecting $70 games, maybe they stick to 60 but either way it'd be a discount on day 1 which seems very unlikely. Unless they did a digital only model with that bundle maybe
That doesn't make too much sense considering those consoles released over 4 years ago. I know the release date but let's just give the hard number of four years. So we do some math, it's probably going to be over $500. Plus if Donald Trump does that tariff thing a lot of parts are coming from China and manufactured over there, we have to add that to it too. Nintendo might need to take a loss on this.
I'm totally on board with $350, but I've actually got some funds saved up that can cover $500 or even more-just to have a safety net, you know? Always better to be prepared!
@Happy.Mario64 just ordered a Sandisk 256 GB micro SD express card off their site yesterday. I'm good on that unless they release a 1 TB later. Already have a carrying case.
Honestly, looking at the price point and how the Switch 2 is shaping up, I really hope it’s around $399. Anything more feels a bit too much, especially the $500 version with Mario Kart-it’s pretty pricey. I’d be okay with $450 (maybe… it’s still expensive), but overall, I just hope the console isn’t too costly. It would be great to have a fair price and the Switch 2 in our hands on Day 1. W Sunbro Nation for the amazing vid!!
$299.99 in 2017 is about $375 today, so $399 seems incredibly likely. I think the base switch goes away and Lite and OLED get $50 price cuts. They'll be on sale for another year or so until the Switch 2 Lite is ready.
A slimmed dock with an LCD switch with built in joycons as their new cheap switch 1 model sounds cool. Pretty much a dockable switch lite. Faze out all the switch variations and just have that at like 250-300 and then the switch 2 at 400$.
If you think about it the most expensive console Nintendo ever released was the Wii U at $300 and $350 for the deluxe model. So even if they set the Switch 2 at $350 that would be a reasonable price. $400 is still possible but it’d be their most expensive console ever
hoping switch 2 will be $350. that pricepoint is like the maximum i can spend on expensive products at once without having *too* many issues with bills afterwards.
I hope the console itself will be around 349 without a game, and 399 with a game. Another thing that concerns me is the memory. The normal switch has 32G and the OLED model 64G. I hope they don't be cheap and give us at least a 256G version. Small warning, if it comes in a bundle, you should know you get a digital code and not the cartridge of the game itself. So if you want the cartridge, you need to buy the console and game separate.
@DaiMie nintendo has you in a headlock Wake up AI scaling might make the Switch 2 look passable but if sales fail & customers complain enough in about a year they'll upgrade the system to something that makes sense
the switch 2 does not have AI upscaling confirmed, and even if it did, that is the kind already used by the Ps5 and XSX on the lighting and such (I think it's called ray tracing but I'm not sure)
@@ChloeCommentss It has hardware accelerated Nvidia AI upscaling(DLSS) using its 48 tensor cores and hardware accelerated Raytracing with 12 RT cores. PS5 and Xbox does not have hardware accelerated RT or upscaling.
I’m hoping for a 400 base and a 450 Mario kart nine special edition would be great because a lot of fans that one special auditions are probably not gonna wait until the holiday season
Only way they can justify a $499 price tag is if it comes with the new Mario kart, given the games will likely be $70 each which would put the console itself around $430. The console being $470 kinda makes sense though especially if mariokart is included since that would put the switch 2 alone right at $400. Either way my pocket is ready!
if the base is 450, the MK9 bundle will not be in any case 500, it'll be 510 or 520, Nintendo doesn't do discounts remember tbh I think 450 or 500 it too much for it, they always try to keep the price low, 350~400 is more likely
I can’t imagine this releases for the same price as what it’s replacing. How could it be a huge step forward if it’s the same price. I think they lower the OLED to 300$ and this comes out as 400$ but 450$ is possible
If they want to be very aggressive, go for the lowest possible return that is satisfactory to force the competition DOWN. Nintendo is structured differently, this would lead to high volume lower return and prevent undercut from rivals.
Goods? Like parts? I think 399 would be enough for them to make a profit on each unit. They are making 20 mil in the first year so they will be buying crazy bulk of each part.
@ It might be, no one knows what they have in total cost per unit in reality though. $399 seems too cheap in 2025 imo, but I would be happy if it were. Also, it’s always easier for a company to lower costs rather than raise them if the console doesn’t sell due to pricing. I think it would sell out at $500 though tbh.

If it’s $499, then screw it. I’ll be happy with the regular switch OLED for some time to come.
$399 is really pushing it as it is.
Outside of wii u and 3ds nintendo usually tries to keep there system somewhat affordable, If they keep that up this Gen we should see no more the $399.99 base if we're lucky get a $349.99 console and pack in mario kart bundle $449.99
I'm ok with $400 for Switch 2. That's the price I'm believed for Switch 2 👍👍👍
We will need to see the more about the specs but if it could play most graphic intensive games i believe $400 would be a great price
I’d pay 399 the day it become available without even thinking about it
The mouse in the joycon is going to make for some neat 3rd party controllers. Many people prefer a mouse for 1st person games.
Seeing as it is it's literally last gen tech, I would hope the price doesn't match current gen msrp.
It's not last gen tech...
If I remember correctly the Nintendo switch didn't come with any games bundled with it, that didn't come up until later in its lifetime
Didn’t want to bring politics into video games, but we kinda knew with the tariffs that the price would be high.
Kamala Harris lover
lol lil lib
I can see them doing the Mario kart bundle for release because that their number one game sales. And for the holidays they do a Mario bundle for the new Mario game. 😅
Do people not realise these prices are placeholders and not the final price?
Friday makes sense. Just because software comes out on Thursday doesn’t mean hardware will too. So yeah Friday is good.
Damn, i would love if its really 349.99, thats incredibly consumer friendly
Red flag for me on the $450 mario kart bundle is that there would be a discount on that bundle. Fully expecting $70 games, maybe they stick to 60 but either way it'd be a discount on day 1 which seems very unlikely. Unless they did a digital only model with that bundle maybe
And I see it as a digital version of Mario kart bundle. I'd prefer the physical game but don't see them having a bundle with a physical
It shouldn’t be five hundred dollars unless they are competing with the power of Sony and Microsoft’s current consoles.
You need extra money for the carrying case and memory cards ,, etc
@Happy.Mario64 just ordered a Sandisk 256 GB micro SD express card off their site yesterday. I'm good on that unless they release a 1 TB later. Already have a carrying case.
The Italian price would include the 22% VAT so the higher price makes sense.
I think 399 makes the most sense but I can see it being 449. 499 seems unreasonable
obviously going to be more expensive in America due to stupid tariffs
14 minutes for this much information is crazy
Im about to be broke 💀
Guys we should expect a 1 trillion price point. Inflation has been crazy. An alternative way of payment is sacrificing your child to Mario.
I'm from the future, it's 399$
🤔 do they have pre own one's.
@@kal-elthelast8834it’s a brand new console. No one’s gonna sell theirs till about a month after release
I'm also from the future. Your comment caused a paradox that made Nintendo cancel the Switch 2 and pivot to the Virtual Boy 2.
It's just a placeholder price, that's how these things always work.
Nintendo always starts out high and then adjusts depending on demand and/or outcry.
Consumer friendliness is not part of Nintendos DNA.
No way man, I'd say it's about over 500 dollars
A slimmed dock with an LCD switch with built in joycons as their new cheap switch 1 model sounds cool. Pretty much a dockable switch lite. Faze out all the switch variations and just have that at like 250-300 and then the switch 2 at 400$.
If you think about it the most expensive console Nintendo ever released was the Wii U at $300 and $350 for the deluxe model. So even if they set the Switch 2 at $350 that would be a reasonable price. $400 is still possible but it’d be their most expensive console ever
hoping switch 2 will be $350. that pricepoint is like the maximum i can spend on expensive products at once without having *too* many issues with bills afterwards.
i hope it's between $300-$400
I hope the console itself will be around 349 without a game, and 399 with a game.
Don't want to pay any more than 399.99 for the switch 2
Doesn't seem like much of an upgrade from the switch
It actually a significant upgrade. Think PS4 but slightly stronger.
@DaiMie nintendo has you in a headlock
Wake up
AI scaling might make the Switch 2 look passable but if sales fail & customers complain enough in about a year they'll upgrade the system to something that makes sense
the switch 2 does not have AI upscaling confirmed, and even if it did, that is the kind already used by the Ps5 and XSX on the lighting and such (I think it's called ray tracing but I'm not sure)
@@ChloeCommentssAI upscaling and ray tracing are completely unrelated.
@@ChloeCommentss It has hardware accelerated Nvidia AI upscaling(DLSS) using its 48 tensor cores and hardware accelerated Raytracing with 12 RT cores. PS5 and Xbox does not have hardware accelerated RT or upscaling.
359 or 399 is the sweet spot!
$399 is a too much, but may still work. $499, on the other hand, is a failed generation.
Either way my pocket is ready!
lookin to get the mario kart bundle 🙏
im just hoping they drop the OLED model soon, can't imagine back to LCD screen after all this year using my OLED switch. :(
Well the exact release date hasn't leaked yet either, only a vague window of 6 months
If it's $499- $500 they'll be looking at a Wii U situation
Castlevania Aura of Holy Might (2/3/25, 3 Previews Available Now)
There's roughly only a 10% chance that it's more than 399, so it's pretty likely
It's probably 449.99
July is too late of a release time to me.
It’s really not
@ to me it is… lol 😩
@@darionwilson3666 Ok
$349.99 is my expectation
£499 - and I will not be going anywhere near it.
Software is not hardware so Friday still makes sence.
With inflation, it will probably be towards the $400 plus side , everything just cost more, and they want more profits 😢
350 is doable and may also get one for multiple people in family. If it’s $500 then we definitely all sharing a single Switch 2
When they released the switch 2 the original, oled and small version will stop production only make switch 2
I hope it’s about 449.99 because then there are higher odds of it being 4k graphics
if the base is 450, the MK9 bundle will not be in any case 500, it'll be 510 or 520, Nintendo doesn't do discounts remember
tbh I think 450 or 500 it too much for it, they always try to keep the price low, 350~400 is more likely
No way its less than $450, the cost of goods is way more overall!
Goods?
I think it would sell out at $500 though tbh.
high inflation japanese economy iv depressed also tariffs could happen
@@danielsmith7247company’s usually don’t make a profit on the console

Over $400 for a no oled Switch 2 is diabolical imo.🥶
Well, I have been saying July 10th will be the launch date for months.
If I get this right, I am officially a leaker!
