Wow! That ASYM worked out NICE! I’ve NEVER seen anyone try to spear a tuna off the bow! That was a first! I do miss the full moon nights on the ocean. Thanks guys! Great video!
Awesome, great try on the tuna. If you ever get a chance like that again, try leading the fish and shoot in front of them similar to shooting in front of a clay Pidgeon. I would like to see that work.
Great, dinner looked elegant. We use to fly the Code 0 free standing, this would alleviate any chafing. Wishing both a safe, fast and uneventful passage.
Nice video. I don't know what it is on this westerly sail across the Atlantic to the Caribbean, but there is a lot of sailing vessels crossing that are experiencing damages and breakdowns. and you two are no exception to this happening. I like the way you were fishingf orget the rod use the spear gun lol. Actually, this was the first time I've seen this done shooting from on boat. Looking forward to next video and what the new breaking item is? Be safe.
Super cool if not quite the start you wanted . Have basically gone off grid , panels charge the batteries even in cloud , was shocked . Full sun is great , pretty much any light is fine ! My panels start charging just after dawn and sunset . How are yours doing ? too late to change now:-) I use major appliances in the day , sometimes at night . A good well charged battery should see you through the night , runs all electrics and has power for lighting inside .
Why not rig a preventer when sailing dead downwind to keep your boom from jibing accidentally? Even with the swept back spreaders, just putting a line forward to keep the boom over on the "right" side would be better than letting it swing around, no?
Hi, can I ask you what your actual timeframe is for your crossing? I'm planning to go this coming December, 2024 but if you're posting in real time, it looks like Jan/Feb is still ok.
Yes, that's when the ARC sets off but I think it's driven more by the desire to be there for Xmas rather than the arrival of reliable tradewinds. I like your choice to time your departure around the full moon, I hadn't considered that. Take care. @@SailingJibsea
Not that we could find. Perhaps our boat’s too old. We’ve done it manually but it’s not that accurate. We do our own weather routing so it wasn’t a big deal for us to not have the polars
Hi Guys so you finally got smart and got out of the Med after i warned you not to go there 3 months ago because of instability I guess a war made you smarten up now my next idea is go through the locks and enter the Pacific and off to Thahiti NOT MEXICO N.America is about to blow up so happy sailing !
If you have two sheets attached to the sinnaker, port and starboard and run them forward of the head stay, you can jibe without dousing with the sock.
Life is good when the dolphins wish you good passage !
Always a treat with dolphins!🐬
Best sailing video ever!
Groovy day in the life episode.
It's a Hunter, keep a close eye on your keel bolts and your steering drag links. Glad to see you have a back stay and not a B&R rig.
We have the B&R rig with a backstay
Dolphins love Company!
We love seeing them!
So excited to watch you guys again. I’ve missed a couple of months do to a health issue but I’m back to cheer you guys on.
Whoo hoo!! Hope things are good and glad to have you back

Not being a sailor, it's so incredible to watch you folks out on the ocean, and the wildlife is humbling. Take care, brian nz.

Bummer on the things breaking. Yet overall a great episode 🎉🎉🎉 See you next time. ✨ 🌊 💨 ⛵️ 🏝️ 👙 🌞 ✨
As for the ropes , would have kept the old ones too .
Another great video
When wing on wing, use a preventer to avoid jibing unexpectedly.
We do use a preventer but the sail itself tries to flick over
note to self: always bring spares
That life-jacket is no good if you do not have a line between your legs when wearing it on (18:08)!!
@1:22 I was always told that’s called “flossing”. Great tip for anyone needing to disentangle a transducer.
Great video. Where were you anchored in the Canaries? Presently we are anchored in Mindelo, being a great stop for us with a few repairs to do.
We were in Las Palmas
@@SailingJibsea We were in the marina in El Hierro.
👍
Count your blessings that things broke at the start, not in the middle.

We do use a preventer but the sail itself will still try to flick over
life with a spinnaker was interesting , lights out, not great !

We departed the last week of November but many wait until January

do you have any software or datahub that generates the polars that are specific to your boat?
Not that we could find. Perhaps our boat’s too old. We’ve done it manually but it’s not that accurate. We do our own weather routing so it wasn’t a big deal for us to not have the polars
@@SailingJibsea do you have a NEMA2000 network?
Yes
Which prop are you running? I have p 42 same year
Max prop 4 blade feathering
I have an oversized fixed and am amazed at you sailing speeds I bust but to get 6 7 been told by many Max prop @@SailingJibsea
Thanks when your windless breaker got stuck your cure was my cure !
Why not main and spinnaker ?
The main would block our spinnaker with the wind being directly behind us
@@SailingJibsea gybe the main

I’m guessing they didn’t take your advice the first time for a reason….
Lots of advice as usual, your having a good time keep on sailing & safe passage
