Good for you, Justin! I’m in my 3rd week at Purdue University Global’s EdD program…. it’s kicking my ass, but I keep moving forward. Good luck; I enjoy watching your different educational journeys!
Well, look at that, I didn't even know Purdue University Global offered an EdD program. Good to know! I always enjoy learning about other programs as well. I can relate to the ass kicks too. I'm making progress, but not without hitting some hurdles. Thanks for watching my videos, appreciate it.
Great insight as always Justin. I start my EdD journey at South starting in Jan 2024, and you lay out a great roadmap of what to expect in the program. Congrats on your progress so far soon to be Dr.
I am completing my masters in Learning experience design and educational technology at WGU. Started Aug 1 and already completed 5 classes with a two week break! Definitely interested in doing my doctorates
That's a lot done since August! Good for you. There are similarities between SC and WGU, for sure. SC has a lot more assignments and academic writing involved. WGU sets you up for navigating that though.
Hi Justin! I love your videos and thank you for sharing your college journey. I’m in my first semester at UMPI (YourPace), BLS with an Accounting minor. Do you have any tips for someone starting CBE coursework. Thanks for all that you do to help students.
Thanks for the positive feedback! I'm glad to hear you're diving into CBE. I've hard a lot of good things about UMPI. The key is to establish a routine and schedule for yourself and aim to stick to it. The more consistent you are at the beginning, the easier it becomes to form a good study habit throughout the entire program.
Thank you Justin. So does that mean you get some type of similarity score before you actually submit, just like with WGU? Is there a similar type of threshold that use like no more than 30% overall and 10% matching on one paper? How would you rate the exam to writing assignment ratio?
@@thedudeandstuff169 You know, I'm not sure about the specific similarity thresholds you mentioned. After you submit the work, the software checks for plagiarism and generative AI matches. One current rule I'm aware of that's specific to generative AI is that you can't have any scores above 0%. If you do, you'll need to redo the paper or a portion of it.
Are sure that this is a quality programme? Especially as it relates to the feedback given. Additionally, you don't seem so sure about the quality of the assignments and if you are learning new skills, advanced skills as one would expect in a doctoral programme. Not all doctorates are the same and not all Ed.Ds are the same quality.
Hey Neil, I've noticed that some assignments are well thought out, challenging and I get helpful feedback. But there are others that I find less rigorous, with limited feedback. Overall, I think the program is more demanding and advanced than WGU's approach, though it has a bit less support in some ways. Maybe it's because of the doctoral level or just fewer resources. For me, it feels a lot like other CBE programs giving it a self-directed feeling, which might not be everyone's cup of tea. How does it stack up against other EdD programs? Honestly, I can't say since this is my first time in a doctorate. But where I'm at in the program, my academic writing and critical thinking skills have leveled up. I'm almost 5 months in now.
No seriously, I rarely get a chance to see you videos (super busy with my own educational journey and job searching) but when your notification popped up , Im like : aww... love his face, just so handsome. hit> LIKE even though I didnt watch the video. lol but Im very proud of you, been here for a minute, trying to get my nerves together for my WGU completion. Best of Luck, always!

Thank you! I appreciate that thoughtful comment. And I'm glad to help you out by sharing my insights and observations along the way.
Well done, I’d be happy at a course a month!

Does your doctoral degree offer a similarity score when Submitting papers, similar to wgu?
Yes, everything is run through Turnitin
