Same. Lol. I looked up the Jack-o-lantern tarot to add to my list, which then led me to 2 other decks coming out in the fall so, BAM, just like that 3 pre-order decks to add to my list.
By far one of my favorite series! I love hearing about all the decks are going to pass on and, most importantly, what you have in your collection that works instead! :)
"I won't know until I have the deck in my hands" - THIS. It all looks amazing when I watch a walk- through or flip- through video or even just pictures of decks, but until I have them in my hands I have no way of telling whether I will actually bond with them. That's how I sold the Dreamkeepers Tarot right after I got it. It's beautiful, but just not for me- and I could only find this out once it was here.
YEP! :) Sometimes I can get a good idea from a distance but I never really know for *sure* until I have it (or look at it in person, which is why I LOVE when local shops have sample decks you can peek at!)
The Prism oracle is one of the best oracles I ever used. I am a very picky oracle user, I find most of them lofty or preachy or most often really unpractical. The Prism oracle is the second practical deck I have ever come across. Let me give you an example. I went on a boat tour with my husband and we forgot our food provisions, so we eventually grew whiny and very hungry. Same evening I pull a card from the Prism oracle and two from a tarot deck. I actually pulled the "Hunger" card together with the 6ofCups and the Tower. In another example I pulled the "Stop" card that is actually red and something like a stop shield, together with the 3ofPen. So on my way to work I had to stop at every traffic light as it turned red the moment I reached it, took me forever this day I have 28 traffic lights on my route. So again, amazing deck that Prism.
I love these videos. They are my go-to videos for when I’m choosing to buy a deck. I like the way you compare them to other decks which “scratch the itch”. I colour my adult colouring books while you chat and then pause to check what you’re showing. I recommend and share your videos to others who like me are making up their mind. I think this style of video fills a missing niche. I’ve bought decks you’ve not chosen because I don’t have anything like it in my collection and the deck you own and prefer (especially the Indie ones) is not a viable option. Keep them coming please. They’re valuable and much appreciated. Love Peggie too when she makes an appearance. She’s a darling.
I received the Seventh Sphere Rider Waite Smith Tarot yesterday Lisa it is printed on beautiful matt card stock reminds me of This Might Hurt. Stunningly gorgeous in person and shuffles like a dream!
I've been catching up on your channel and love your anti-hauls; I collect ocean/mermaid decks (the same way you collect cutesy/unicorn decks) and had to have the Tarot of the North Atlantic. Not only is it ocean-themed, but I just picked up embroidery this summer so I'm obsessed with the artist's style in the way they created that deck. I'm so glad you shared it on your channel! (And yes, I also have the Oceanum Arcanae and Healing Waves!)
I did back the Literary Tarot. I think it is only the second kickstarter I have but the last two months changed that too. I also don't want to "collect" decks; I want to use them. This is the one deck I won't mind if it is just a collector's item. It just grabbed my soul.
I had the same reaction to the Literary tarot...I felt like I would need to read all the books to fully understand the deck! I have the Living Altar deck, and it is definitely usable as an oracle (I did a challenge, using it as my deck, and it was really fun), though I do agree it makes a wonderful altar card deck as well. It's just so unique, and I love that each card was crafted as a spell.
The Mystic Mondays deck that I got through Amazon must have fixed the quality control issues. I didn't have to deal with the creator. I like that deck, but, don't want to buy anything else from her.
I am so with you for most of this...I still want Tarot of the North Atlantic. I don't have all those other ocean decks, or even that older quilted deck, so I have a free space! But I'm a lot slower to back, preorder, buy...I have a pretty stark wish list right now, and I'm sticking to it. (except I did get Kitty Kahane the other day and it's really fun.)
Hi Lisa i am french and it is a very good idea to say what you think really about your deck. I find the healing waves tarot beautiful but i can't find it!! Do you know informations about it? Thank you very much for all 😀🌟
So this might sound weird but I would be honored to see my deck in your anti-haul video 😂as I have a Kickstarter launching for my tarot deck on 31-July 😁. It’s called The Eyeris Tarot. I too almost backed the literary tarot but held off and went with the chromatic fates tarot instead cuz it was full of colors 🌈. Thank you for sharing! I love watching these!
I love your bad ass deck!😎 The colors are gorgeous...I love knowing that u did the art,...makes it even better to me! I’m actually crossing my fingers & lighting candles for the funds to come in for me to get it for myself!
Oh, but the Living Altar Oracle is SO much more than altar pieces - definitely a fabulous oracle in itself. Among the many, many, many hundreds of tarot and oracle decks I've owned since 1997 Living Altar is my absolute favorite. It's just amazing. 😊
I also anti-hauled the literary tarot which was such a hard decision as that combines my two favorite things in the world. I actually wasn’t sold on all the artwork since it was 4 different artists and I liked some more than others. And I wasn’t super happy with some of the choices that I saw. As a lit major I had read a good chunk of the books they were referencing, so it was almost the opposite problem for me. It was too much in my wheel house so I was being super picky about the references 🤣 I’m really glad it was so well supported, though. It seemed like a great non profit.
I love ocean themed decks I have the whispers of the ocean which I pick up as part of my first order tomorrow and have 2 mermaid decks coming in order 2 which I pick up on Friday
I so understand wanting to buy a deck but also making sure you understand all the references. I’m going to buy golden girls cause it’s a deck I can work with. I really wish there was a Gilmore Girls deck. I’d be soo happy for one. But there are other movie/show decks I like but know if get frustrated if I didn’t fully understand it all. Just as you have the last unicorn and I’m dying. That’s exactly the one I can’t wait to get into my hands. It’s stunning and was my favorite childhood movie. I’m soo passionate about it.
OMG if a Gilmore Girls deck came out.... it'd be ALL. OVER. I do hope you get the Last Unicorn Tarot... it's pricey but omg... it's so worth it!= (IMHO)
The things you said about unicorns is funny, it's the exact same thing for me but with dragons, I don't want super cute dragons imagery, but neither super serious and dark early 2000' dragons haha I want dragons like they are in the upcoming Smoke ash and Embers, which is going to be one of my fav decks I'm sure of it
I'm still looking for the perfect dragon deck. . Dragonriders of Pern and the illustrations of Michael Whelan are where my heart lies. . Perhaps someday. I do like the Smoke Ash and Embers deck, but it was just too pricey with the shipping. The same with the Healing Waves.
One deck I already kind of regret backing is the Alleyman's tarot. I was all aboard the hype train, and although I'm still a little excited to receive it, I have to admit that falling for the hype made me extra hesitant to back the Literary tarot, so I abstained. 😐 In that same vein, I regret NOT backing the LandBack Oracle instead, which went on at the same time; that one had more stakes that I would have liked to be apart of. Thanks for this video and the very important discussions you bring to the table!
I was super tempted by the Jack o'Latern tarot but you are right-I already have the Halloween tarot and only use it 1 month out of the year. Plus, I want to see all the cards-it looks great but I'm worried about it being repetitive with the artwork. Still on the search for my perfect unicorn oracle *sigh*
This is such a good episode, alot of the decks that you've said you won't back or pre-ordered I totally agree with and I'm like bleh, except for one, that was in Say Yes to the Deck, which is The Winter Seers, but totally get why you said no and you have a deck pretty similar. Oh my gawd I died with your squeeky voice and the pink polka dots going around you about the Unicorn 🦄 Deck.
Lisa, you can get the RWS Seventh Sphere Tarot for $24 WITH a book on Tarot by Tina Gong as a Barnes & Noble exclusive. It doesn’t have the gilded edge but it’s still a hell of a deal considering the book is hardcover and comprehensive! Just FYI, from a fellow tarot enabler 😂
I love your makeup and look in this video!! Also adore your anti-hauls, but just saying I bought 3 new decks (all mass market) just a few minutes ago! Can't help myself!! LOL
I love your personality. You seem like someone I'd be friends with in real life. I just have 2 decks. The Rider-Waite-Smith deck and The Moonology Manifestation deck. I am a very picky cards buyer. The art has to be beautiful, it can't be a Rider-Waite clone, and it has to be clear. But I am interested in The Wizards Tarot by Corinne Kenner, The Light Seer's Tarot, Angels Among Us and the Heavenly Bodies Oracle deck. Those 4 pass my test. That being said The Crystal Visions deck is close. It's beautiful and it's not a Rider-Waite clone. But it's not easy to read. I think the card meanings are different from Rider-Waite but the visuals aren't clear. That's kind of a negative to me. But it's quite gorgeous.
I did back the Literary Tarot and I went back and forth with it too! It was mostly because of some of the art choices…I don’t know how they will resonate once in hand. But I have read about 95% of the books referenced, so that won me in the end. I could always sell it if it didn’t work out! Oh….I’m really excited about getting the Healing Waves Tarot! I’m a water baby too!
I have the Seventh Sphere Lenormand from Labyrinthos and it's my One True Lenormand. I have zero desire to get another Lenormand deck, because they haven't grabbed me the way this one has. And I don't like any of the tarot decks from Labyrinthos for whatever reason. They just don't grab me, even though I love the resources that are available on the website. I also didn't back the Literary tarot, because I couldn't justify the fact that shipping to Canada would be half the cost of the deck. I'm kind of hoping to see if Brink Literacy Project has a booth at SDCC next year, and if there's copies of the Literary tarot available, I'll pick a copy up then.
I have the 7th sphere TdM (and backed dream vision). The 7th sphere card stock is recycled plastic. It’s really nice. But also the edges are chipping 2 months in. I still love it. It does feel indestructible.
Okay, this is interesting to me, because I bought a Seventh Sphere Lenormand which has the same plastic cardstock in July 2020. I use it weekly and it still looks brand new (except for the fuzz that gets stuck to it, haha).
I bought the larger version of the sigil deck without realizing it was the same as the small one. I'm still trying to decide if I want to unhaul it or not. I am totally with you on the Rainbow Kipper. I don't do Lenormand or Kipper, as much as I'd love to support creators of those decks, I have to draw the line somewhere! :D
As my own collection grows, I found myself being more picky about tarot decks. I find myself looking back at my own decks and compare to what I'm contemplating on buying to see if I really want it
I ended up backing the Literary Tarot because I love literature. I felt like it was a nice pairing of my two passions (tarot and literature). I also backed the Pulp Tarot on Kickstarter because I loved the retro/vintage vibe of this deck. Plus, I don’t have any decks in this specific style. I did preorder the Jack O’ Lantern Tarot because I am a sucker for all things Halloween. I also have other Halloween-type decks. However, the Jack O’ Lantern deck has a different art style and feel than the others which is another reason for deciding on this deck. By the way, I love the Kipper system. It’s a very intuitive system for me. I am not sure that I am drawn to the Rainbow Kipper cards that you mentioned. I love my Fin de Siècle Kipper deck by Ciro Marchetti.
The Jack-o-lantern tarot reminds me of a lighter version of Trick-or-Tarot, which I have as well as the Halloween Tarot. However, since I am just a collector for now, and have no shame about that, I will most likely be getting this new one as well. Lol. Love me some Halloween 🎃 I also recently backed the Embroidered Graveyard Oracle on KS, and was able to get one of her original Embroidered hoops from the deck!!!! It's the sleeping cat skeleton in the basket. Can't wait to get it.
Hello, I found a old deck of taro cards in my daughter's room. She said they were giving to her by someone that's using them for years. Since finding them I have nothing but back luck. My daughter's in jail so now would be a good time to get rid of them. Does anyone know the proper way to do that?
Oh and that prism oracle is pretty dope and fun. I have it, there’s a pretty cool in depth review on my channel if you wanna know more about it. Thanks for making these fun vids, Lisa!
I'm fairly new to tarot and I saw your anti-hauls right at the beginning of my journey, and I think these videos are a great reminder not to overdo this stuff especially when I want to read just for myself. These are also a good way to see new decks I don't know yet, and since I've found out that we have somewhat similar taste in decks, I really like to hear why you don't want something. Just in case there is something I didn't know about that deck (like I just learned about Kipper system, I might have thought it was an oracle deck - a mistake I made with that one Lenormand deck I have, though I don't mind that so much, hah). So I really appreciate that you do these videos to us! But one thing disturbs me a bit in this video. I know that you have had comments about showing the cards too fast on the decks you are already have in your collection, but showing only the cards while you talk (I also assume those parts are recorded at different time) feel somehow disconnected. The pace is so peaceful, it doesn't feel like it fits the speech, and now we are missing all those comments you usually make flipping through the cards, like "omg look at these backs they are just GORGEOUS" or "I just love this eight of cups, look at it" and so on. I know it's not easy to please everyone, but I really missed that in this video. Like when you make a walkthrough of a deck, we can see your hands showing things you point out in the cards and it feels that you speak and show at the same time, that's what I hoped to see here. But no pressures, I like your videos either way. Keep up the good work :)
Thank you so much for this feedback!! :) I enjoyed the creative shift to doing the separate card clips so I think I am probably going to continue to experiment with that in my videos, but this is really useful feedback and I'll think a bit about how I go about it next time to see if I can keep a bit more of that organic feel. :) In this case, I still had cards in hand and was looking at them while the other clip was rolling so that way if I do end up pointing out something like JUST LOOK AT THIS TEN OF CUPS, I can clip away from the other shot and show me holding that card up in editing. That might be a nice way to have the best of both worlds. :) I'll play around with it a bit!
I backed the Literary Tarot - my first Kickstarter and I'm very excited. I haven't heard of half of the stories either but just love the ones I had heard of, but totally get your point. I did think long and hard if I would get enough out of it, but there was something about it I couldn't say no too. Can't wait for it now.
Totally on the same page with the Kipper deck. I really wanted it, but than the price doubled so I went with Lenormand. now it's on the wishlist with the tarot deck. XD
I love this series! I'm bummed I didn't get the healing waves tarot. I hope the creator sells it eventually. I'm definitely anti-hauling all the new Disney decks coming out. Feels like a capitalist money grab to me.
I don't have time for another system! Love that. I agree! Titanic Tarot is my ultimate Tarot deck, but these are beautiful. I get to go trick-or-treating with my son and I think I love it more than he does💜
I understand about Unicorn decks. I’m super picky I can’t look at horses that are not anatomically correct. Drives me nuts …also when I see horse tack on them. BIG no for me.. I’m a horse person and trainer so yeah …can’t make myself get over it.
I backed the Literarty Tarot but I have the same fear as the reason your anti-hauled it. I want it to strike the same chord with me that the Tarot of the Divine does with all the fairytales and the guidebook that gives some brief story references. Because I adore working with Tarot of the Divine, so I’m taking the chance on the Literary tarot too. But since it deals with sooooo many different authors takes on the stories and card meanings idk how they’re all going to land. The art is so gorgeous though I totally caved. 😅
I feel the same way about Mystic Monday’s. It’s missing something. I’ve never heard of Dream Visions. That one looks interesting. I will have to check that out. I have Seventh Sphere RWS (the bordered Barnes and Noble version). Now I want to check out the Dream Visions. Thank you for talking about it.
Oooh Lisa, this time you've anti-hauled some decks I love!! But -- I can totally see + agree with your reasons. North Atlantic is a favourite for me, but I have no other ocean tarots; I also love Living Altar but understand not getting it if you've got something for that purpose. I feel exactly the same as you with the kipper -- it'll be my first, but I'm too engrossed in learning ogham right now. I backed the Literary Tarot but honestly... have barely looked at the cards. I backed it because I love SO many of the authors doing the card/book pairings. I feel like of the classic literature chosen, I've read... perhaps half? But much like Literary Witches, I look forward to the project of reading the ones that are new to me. ❤😊
Oh that Ocean Deck is gorgeous, don't know if it's in that Kickstarter/retail no-mans-land or if it's completely sold out, but even the artist doesn't carry it at this time
"Hope you have snacks and a comfy blanket" - yes, on the couch with blanket and snacks :D Have to say I like the way you included the top down recordings of the decks you show - it's much easier to watch than cards you show to the cam in front of you. The way you feel about unicorn decks, I feel about cat decks. I love cats so so much that I'm picky af about cat decks :D I can't even tell what I don't like if I don't like a deck or the other way around. I had the exact same thoughts about the Jack O'Lantern Tarot - it's a cool theme. I love Halloween and Samhain. But there are other decks I like and use for that season. Maybe after I've seen all the cards, but I don't think I'd buy it. The Literary Tarot. Oof. I LOVE the art style. And I love the cards of which I know the books SO MUCH. But I don't know enough of these books, plus I'm actually not a fan of gold. So, it's okay I didn't back this deck I guess... but it's so beautiful and I LOVE the idea.
@@Lisa_Papez I have. But I'm not sure about the artwork yet. Still, I like other things Lunaea Weatherstone did. It's on my wishlist for now (like many other things... I need more time and money!)
@@Lisa_Papez I also ordered the season save the Seasons of the Witch Samhain deck. I watch the video to see what decks no doubt did not want to order and ended up finding two that I really liked that you like as well. I also appreciate the fact that you never trash the authors or illustrator save the decks. You just state why they are not for you and that is legitimate. Thank you for bringing these decks to my attention
I anti haul the Literary Tarot, it was the separate magazines over 12 months to get all the stories, that stopped me, I just couldn’t justify the expense of a another author retelling a story I already have the beloved the original in my book library.
Oh man Taylor Hultquist-Todd’s ocean tarot was one I didn’t back and it was SO CLOSE, I went back and forth on it about a zillion times. On the one hand I love her art style and I have and love her cat deck and am of course also a water baby, but on the other hand I was also more excited about Healing Waves and felt like it was too many ocean decks at once. But it was hard to pass that one up!! (And thank you for the lovely shoutout!! 🥰😘❤️)
Oh my goodness!!! I backed the Dream Visions Tarot and almost backed the Literary Tarot too! I let the Literary Tarot go because the minors had not been started when I first backed and the planned rate of art completion seemed really fast to me. The deck is to raise money for charity so once it comes out if I change my mind I think I there will be a copy available. 🥰
It should be available after the KS campaign! I can't imagine they'll only order exactly enough for backers! Maybe they have a mailing list you can sign up to?
Did you just say a " legit dragon sized tarot hoard" LOL you need a heavy tarot leaning Jackie Paper. I have been sitting on the Seventh Sphere so long. Thanks for sharing that Indie deck with bolder coloring!
Ok. Two things. Lisa, you need to create a unicorn deck! And two, we adults need to start our own trick or treating tradition. I'm not sure on the details on that because if we are all out trick or treating, who is going to be handing out candy? But let's not get bogged down by the details. We'll figure it out. But this needs to happen!!!!!
LOL I'm too picky to make a unicorn deck.... but you never know!!! If the right artist came along.... who didn't mind my superduperpickyness..... anything is possible! AND YES TO ADULT TRICK OR TREATING
Deciding to buy a deck after watching your carefully considered decision to not buy it (or to rehome it) is one of the TarotTube clichés in my cheeky response to Anna's cliché tarot reader video!
I got rid of my copy of the living altar. I really really wanted to love this deck but there's a lot of political speak in the guidebook that turned me off.
I love how Lisa's anti-hauls are my wallet enders because I end up buying more decks!
😂🤣
Same. Lol. I looked up the Jack-o-lantern tarot to add to my list, which then led me to 2 other decks coming out in the fall so, BAM, just like that 3 pre-order decks to add to my list.

Omg! The munchkin voice when you were talking about the unicorn deck! I’m dead 😂😵
😜
😂
yes another anti haul!! i’ve been watching the previous ones over and over again LOL theyre so fun
The squeaky voice talking about fate and the unicorn 🦄 deck coming out on your birthday was everything! 🤣😂 I had to replay it a couple times. Lol

Really, mine isn’t chipped at all and I’ve had it for 2 years
Okay, this is interesting to me, because I bought a Seventh Sphere Lenormand which has the same plastic cardstock in July 2020. I use it weekly and it still looks brand new (except for the fuzz that gets stuck to it, haha).
Interesting. Yeah mine has little chips on it already. And I overhand shuffle due to the hand size + arthritis combo I have.
I find myself looking back at my own decks and compare to what I'm contemplating on buying to see if I really want it
I love the angels and ancestors deck. This is exactly the deck I wanted to hand make.
The magic of unicorns deck is coming to me in order 2 can't wait
Lol. Love me some Halloween 🎃
I also recently backed the Embroidered Graveyard Oracle on KS, and was able to get one of her original Embroidered hoops from the deck!!!!
It’s call the trash can sweetheart.
I hope you love it!!! :)
Thanks
I love your anti haul videos and the way you find a similar deck to scratch the itch ❤️
I do hope Healing Waves comes back into some sort of availability in the future!!
I don't have time for another system! Love that. I agree! Titanic Tarot is my ultimate Tarot deck, but these are beautiful. I get to go trick-or-treating with my son and I think I love it more than he does💜
I need grandkids I can take trick or treating!! Our kids are all growed up now!
I have the angels and ancestors deck
I understand about Unicorn decks. I’m super picky I can’t look at horses that are not anatomically correct. Drives me nuts …also when I see horse tack on them. BIG no for me.. I’m a horse person and trainer so yeah …can’t make myself get over it.
I love this series. It was a good reminder to buy not any deck. Thank you, for this Video.
I hope you thoroughly enjoy it!!!!!
Spirit Within tarot by Stephen Bright is one my very fave decks. It’s an easy read and what I believe very under rated 😜
just love this series. I hope to see more pop-culture decks and decks with tons of color like the prism deck.
Oh that Ocean Deck is gorgeous, don't know if it's in that Kickstarter/retail no-mans-land or if it's completely sold out, but even the artist doesn't carry it at this time
"Hope you have snacks and a comfy blanket" - yes, on the couch with blanket and snacks :D
Have to say I like the way you included the top down recordings of the decks you show - it's much easier to watch than cards you show to the cam in front of you.
SO GLAD you had a blanket and snacks! ROFL ... Ooooh if you're a cat person, have you seen the Mystical Cats Tarot?
@@Lisa_Papez I have. But I'm not sure about the artwork yet. Still, I like other things Lunaea Weatherstone did. It's on my wishlist for now (like many other things... I need more time and money!)
So glad you showed the making magic mini deck. I just ordered it
It's such a useful little deck!!!
I have both versions of the Making Magick deck. The big ones book is really good though and has more info and history of each card. Just saying 😘
Good to know!
Did you get a new camera? I love love love how the cards look when you switch to POV!
I used the lens I usually only use for face-on footage to film the b-roll for the cards! :) I love how pretty it turned out. LOL
Exactly!!! I probably shouldn't have... but... OCEAN 😍😍😍😍
Excellent point!
Whoo hoo reverse shopping!
OMG yes... Reverse shopping!!!! Love that term!
I want that Jack of lantern deck
Diana Cooper’s decks are very Hay House circa 1997, so yeah… I GET YOU. I am getting this unicorn deck though.
So glad you get me!
The North Atlantic Tarot looks gorgeous. I guess I'm most familiar with the north Atlantic ... but $76! Too pricey for me I think.
Oh no! I missed out on the literary tarot wish I knew about it sooner! Bummer
Thanks for sharing that Indie deck with bolder coloring!
hehehehe dragon sized tarot hoard!!!
Ok.
I love this series
I love making these too!!!! :D
Oh and… dream vision is EXACTLY what I wanted mystic mondays to be. Sorry for posting all these comments but I’m commenting as I’m watching. Haha
LOVE comments while watching LOL
Deciding to buy a deck after watching your carefully considered decision to not buy it (or to rehome it) is one of the TarotTube clichés in my cheeky response to Anna's cliché tarot reader video!
OMG THIS IS SO GREAT!
You want a Goldilocks unicorn deck - not too cute, not too serious, not too old, not too young, juuuuuust right. :)
Exactly right! LOL I'm so picky!
@@Lisa_Papez I feel the same way with all oracle decks. I have yet to find just one that I really love!
Just sayin', there is a Ciro Marchetti Kipper that's looks great next to his Lenormand, with matching boxes 😇
I knowwwwwww and it's so prettttty! lol Shhhhhh....!
We ALL love ourselves a cute fluffy duck... Am I right??
Is it wrong for me to watch your anti-haul videos for the sole purpose of adding more decks to my wishlist? XDDD
LOL of course not! :) You do you!!!
Lisa, you look beautiful!
Thank you! 🥰🥰
The plastic cardstock from Laborinthos is the best! Shuffling alone is worth the buy….just sayin🙄
OOF evil! 🤣😂
You riffle shuffle, you'd probably love plastic cards.
I got rid of my copy of the living altar.
I really really wanted to love this deck but there's a lot of political speak in the guidebook that turned me off.
