The pre-order I'm deeply tempted by is the Beowulf Tarot, which is co-written by John Matthews of Wildwood Tarot fame. I've been looking for a deck with a Viking/Saxon/runic vibe, but I'm very picky about artwork - I actually prefer flat artwork that resembles something from the golden age of illustration (anything Beardsley/Rackham/Dulac/Nielsen-esque), so this one really ticks all the boxes for me. Also I so know what you mean about squirrel hobbies! Spinning has been that for me - I really want to go back to it at some point, but...so little time, so many things I want to do! I will be keeping an eye out for the Yarn Tarot though (again with the flat artwork!), as somehow I've managed to stick with knitting for several years.
I always love these anti-hauls. My experience is that once a deck really gets under my skin, it becomes almost impossible to talk myself out of it. I can do it for a while, but then I usually go back and get it. In fact, it just happened today with the Field Tarot. I've had my eye on it -- watched Dustin's walk through (from a while back) and clicked yes, to the deck. I think you should get that Numinous -- I mean, you need it for your craft!!
What about ‘library’? You mentioned you didn’t know what other word you could substitute for ‘collection’ when referring to your decks. The word ‘library’ popped into my head right as you said that and I couldn’t resist adding my two cents, for what it’s worth. 😊
I LOVE how analytical you are about your deck evaluation. I am a super analytical person as well so I found this video SO helpful, as someone who also wants to buy all the decks but wants to be thoughtful about my purchases and accumulation of “stuff”.
I'm also a hobby squirrel with tarot being my most recent hobby and watching this backlog of antihauls is really helping to curb my "I need to buy all of the decks right now!" energy. Though I'm still already up to like 7 somehow...
Weavers is on my list. I did get the Sacred Hags though and the book is amazing. I love the writing style and the Morning and Moonlight rituals are doable and really help me make everyday activities feel sacred.
@@Shannon-kd9rl Yes, it’s really different from what we see in oracles usually. I’m looking forward to really using it and reading it all. The writing is lyrical, can’t think of a better word.
Yeah I love having a huge variety in my card decks n I must admit I don't feel overwhelmed by having a huge collection n I'm not even a professional will be one day
This was fun as always! You always make really great points. I added a few decks this year where I had a hole in my collection, but now I'm trying to be patient and wait for a couple of decks that will hopefully be released later this year.
Your anti-hauls videos are my favorite!! I have a tendency to buy decks just because I like their artwork or energy, but later on I realize they might not be exactly what I was looking for... so your videos really help me with that! Thank you!
I am going to date myself here but I have the old playing card Zerner Farber deck, the original Enchanted Tarot and the Anniversary edition. Now, I don't read with those very large cards but I love the seemingly larger than life version and all the detail within them as well as the added color.. Just can't get that with the small version or the white back set. I almost trimmed them and I am glad I did not. I have few copies of the small deck and I put contact paper on one set. This is a true on the go set for me. Is it my favorite deck? Well no, but I am terribly familiar with it.
I had plum forgot about fashion plates! I was not tempted to buy anything from this video! I'm so proud of myself. I do already own the Forest Fae oracle and I adore it. I am waiting for the Sacred Hags oracle in the mail, but I don't own the Weaver's oracle. I've been tempted, but have resisted. And I agree: your makeup is on point!
The Forest Fae is my first mini deck, I had been searching for awhile for the perfect one for me, glad I waited. Each character definitely has some unique energy.
The only thing I will get is the Shadowland Lenorman, I just need to see how shipping etc prices will go up from the 1st of July. I don't have the old, so I'm excited to have this. :)
Love it! This is the first Anti-Haul where I haven't dropped a hundred bucks by the end of the video. 8-) I already have the ones I would have bought and agree with you on the others.
If it helps, re: Numinous third printing. Cedar said in a recent Kickstarter update that they might be getting the decks by July. BUT, they're also getting 3000 decks printed and are going to reprint as necessary because they have so much overage money from the Kickstarter. So basically, you're just missing out on the chance to be "first" plus the set of bonus prints included in the Kickstarter orders. (I backed the third printing, because I missed out on the second printing.)
I backed the Fantôme tarot....after much thinking. It’s gonna have an VR app so I’m so excited. Was trying to see whether it would make an appearance in this video 😂
Lisa's Weavers Oracle = best edging ever. Do you remember what colours and products you edged it with Lisa? Cause I would consider edging my deck like that lol
I was going to comment that Tarot of the North Atlantic (a favourite) was still available but I see Sarah beat me to it! ❤😊 That one I'd totally try to talk you into -- it's so textured, so detailed, beautiful. And, it's a great animal majors / pip minors deck with a very predominantly blue palette that looks good with lots of other decks. I was tempted by the new Numinous too, for the cardstock... but have decided against it. I love + use the deck a lot, and so the older stock has never prevented me from using it at all; so, in my mind, that tells me doesn't need replaced. Numinous has to be of my top three tarot guidebooks ever.
I was actually going to ask if you could suggest something in place of the Wild Unknown Archetypes. Lol. I am struggling with using it due to it being huge and I am not in live with some of the imagery or the art style. I plan to do some deep study with it before I make the call. The guidebook is great and I am copying the card pages by hand in an effort to bond with the deck and so I will still have the info if I choose to rehome it. Archeo is now on my Decks to Look Into list now.
Ooh, the Exquisite Familiars, never seen it before. I might totally get it for "oracle toy". I don't have the potions deck but I love that he is thinking of new ways to construct oracle decks. I think the Shadowland Lenormand is just the House of Shadows coloured. I bought mine this year and it included a card saying that the coloured version will be published in fall 2021. Good adulting, Lisa! You are clearly getting ready to be a wise hag!
The Faerie Oracle Deck is the first Deck that I ever got my Tarot Cards read from. I have a couple of Collette Baron Reid, but the one I read from the most is the Goddess Power Oracle it's my Go to Deck. I got 3 new Decks: Witches Kitchen Oracle Cards, Witches Tarot by Ellen Dugan and Dark Wood Tarot. I have the Rider-Waite-Smith Deck, but I wasn't really feeling it until I got the Witches Tarot by Ellen Dugan and Dark Wood Tarot so those I will be learning on. For A LOT of the Forest Theme ones I thought of The Wild Wood Tarot by Mark Ryan and John Matthews.
Thank you for bringing the Divine Feminine Tarot deck by Cocorrina to my attention. Like you, I also saw the Cosmic Woman Tarot but passed on it. I love the colors in the nocturnal edition of the Divine Feminine Tarot deck. As someone who works with the ancient Egyptian sky goddess Nut, it just clicked for me.
I backed it 🤣😂 I wasn't going to - it's so chaotic... but it's also SO interesting and the part of me that's like.... a deck of all these different other decks? It's like a TAROT SAMPLER... and then I got all *grabby hands* about it. LOL
I had on my wish list from the moment I saw pre order option The sacred forest tarot, The shaman’s dream oracle and The priestess of light oracle. Didn’t buy any of them and actually feel good about this choice. I had really high hopes for The sacred forest oracle ( because the picture - tree with door, I thought it will be more like Narnia fantasy/ish idea). I love the collage style decks - when done to my taste 😆 Amy Zerner & Monte Farber have a Wild goddess oracle deck coming out in September- that’s on my wish list. Always enjoy your pondering and comparing Lisa 🌟
Just wanted to thank you for introducing me to the Hidden Messages Tarot, as you described it it feels like it's right up my alley 😅 I'll be gone watching walkthroughs for the next few hours 💁 You made me laugh and giggle as always! All the best ✌️
Always interesting watching these videos and how opinions differ, not a bad thing :) I don't like matte Blue Angel card stock (it's too thick/the cards stick together when picking or even when they jump out/they wear quicker). Obviously this is just my personal opinion/preference. i ordered a back up deck of the Art of Love tarot, it came and it was on the matte card stock and when i compared it to the glossy version that i have i felt the matte version had lost its vibrancy. I also ordered the Transcendent Journeys oracle and ended up returning it because the imagery just didn't stand out on the matte card stock, it looked dull. I have decided not to buy anymore Blue Angel decks until they change their card stock. It would be interesting if you do manage to get a matte copy of the Hero's Journey so you can compare it on both card stocks and see if you feel a difference in the vibrancy/imagery. I was surprised you received a glossy version because ALL the decks i have bought published by Blue Angel in the last 2/3 months have all been matte card stock even the pocket edition oracles... Enjoyed the video and subscribed 😊
This is great feedback from someone who prefers the glossy and I love to see that! :) I know a huge reason for my preference for matte cardstock is because I use decks in videos for my client readings as well as for YT - but I just love the *feel * of matte cardstock. That said.... sometimes they can be a bit clumpy or hard to shuffle, so that's a thing! I DO HOPE to get a matte version of Hero's Journey eventually!!!
I agree they should let you know what’s what with cardstock! Makes a huge difference!! Is that Atlantic tarot still available on make playing cards or printers I know I almost ordered from there not long ago hmmm I’ll go check
Fasion Plates! You could choose different head, torso and bottoms and then clam paper in there and make a print with the side of your crayon, then color it in. #old
Me an avid crocheter: YARN TAROT????? I'll have to watch walk throughs when the deck is released, but I'm currently leaning towards no for it solely because I already backed The Makers Tarot on Kickstarter. Neither deck is my preferred art style, but the crafting variety in The Makers tarot is really fun and speaks to my own hobby squirrel side lol (plus I saw it before the Yarn Tarot)
Future Ancestor Tarot gives me tha same vibes as The gentle tarot but with more colors ! I also love the Forest fae mini I do pair it with the Enchanted forest tarot ! Thanks this videos are always very fun to watch and now I need the Sacred forest ! 😜🍁🌛🌕🌜
I often preorder when there is a discount or campaign goodies that are worth my while. Kickstarter is more applicable here, oh and sometimes there is only one release depending on the creator. I am now stopping preordering decks outside of kickstarter, there doesn't seem to be a benefit for me and I rather see the art and get more details on the deck and book.
I want to push you back in favor of the Forest Fae. Price is good. Cards are glossy and feel like little enameled works of art. Card size is lovely and tactile. Color palette totally different (from what I can see) from the Brian Froud faeries. This deck is earthier moss and fern tones, soil, mushrooms and roots. Images are borderless, vertically oriented and serious thoughtful fae - not silly or fluffy light. My only pause is for the messages because I'm not drawn to oracle messages like affirmations or little wisdom pep talks. Magnetic box is a dream.
I have the textured tarot too and looking for another fabric style deck. great decks you showcased here. I, too love archetype cards. I have 2 of them so far (archetype cards and the sacred wealth-code oracle). As far as shamanism, what do you feel about the shamanic healing oracle? love the black chalkboard art style.
It’s funny because I just used the Future Ancestor last night, and I definitely use it more sparingly than I would otherwise because of the limited color palette. But I do really love it’s slow, wise, soft energy, and I’m so glad I have it. Admittedly I am lucky enough to be friends with the absolute earth angel who created that deck, so I couldn’t NOT have it. Another great video! Thank you! - Jennifer K (in garden gnome mode) 😋 P.S. FRIENNNNND I did the same thing with resisting the new printing of the Numinous Tarot. It’s not as new to me, but there are SO MANY new decks coming out all the time that I wanted to save my budget for something newer than the new cardstock. I also might upgrade later because I totally love the deck itself. If you ended up backing it after all don’t tell me because I am fending off the FOMO for now but it’s tenuous 😂
I hear you on tenuous FOMO for SURE! ;) I'll try to keep it quiet but I mean I do tend to be a loudmouth about everything i'm up to on the channel sooooo.....
I am currently being tempted by the Future Ancestors Tarot! But I worry that it would compete too much with the Gentle Tarot since the art style for the figures is sort of similar in my mind. But the Gentle Tarot has all those lovely colors. (And I just ordered the deck with the new card stock...) Also, I was similarly disappointed with the other recent Colette deck, Oracle of the 7 Energies. I thought it’d be like an updated version of her older decks with art I liked better, but it all just felt really flat to me. I can’t really explain why.
YES!! OMG the Gentle Tarot probably scratches that itch even better than Witches Wisdom! I was disappointed by Oracle of teh 7 Energies also :( :( I didn't pick it up but I did get to see it in person and it fell so flat for me - and I was excited thinking it was gonna be a Chakra deck but ... mrr... not for me.
Hold on, what do you mean you are at the end of the mother’s stage and moving onto the crone??!! !!! That sounds absolutely crazy , you are only a couple of years older than me. Why do you feel like that? (A video about maiden, mother and crone energies would be absolutely amazing)
I think it's partly because I'm entering menopause (peri for sure), and partly because my children (step-children) are adults... Throughout my life I've always energetically felt strangely older than my age, so this lines up..... but also young at heart? Interesting combo to navigate!! LOVE the suggestion to discuss maiden, mother crone energies! I think I'll consider that for June's Eclectic Witchcraft livestream!
@@Lisa_Papez it completely makes sense, but you seem so young at heart, exactly!, thats why it sounded so strange when you said it. Age is a curious thing, isnt it? I have the opposite situation, i feel so so young, which in turn it makes me look young, im 40 (and look 30 people say) but i feel like 28 most of the time. Lol. I am convinced that there’s something going on with the time and it travels in a different way through different people and we all experience it on a the different way.
Not trying to give you permission or anything but....if you were to get the new numinous tarot deck, you could re-home the with the glossy card stock. I think you would always be after the one you wanted. 😁
Re: Numinous... Just after I bought Roots & Wings, she changed the unreadable font. Can't really justify another purchase just for that, but it's tempting! You should get the improved deck. You did justify why and it's worth it to have a deck you love and use vs one you don't.
My purchase regrets? :) Much like my This or That or declutters, I put decks i"m thinking of rehoming in a bit of a holding place for a WHILE usually... then if I do decide to declutter, mass market decks typically go to local metaphysical bookshops to resell (I get store credit), or I gift them sometimes to friends. Indie decks I often will list for trade in my Supportive Tarot fb group on Tarot Trade Tuesday also. :)
Disclaimer!!!! LISA! in the following comment i intend to persuade you to actually buy 2 of the decks unhauled on the video and you might want to skip it!!!!!! . . . . . . . . . . I mean you know you like the numinous tarot you know you'll like the new cardstock better for matching purposes you know you LOVE to match your decks and since your current copy is basically new why don't you just sell the one you already have and get the new one before you grow accustomed to this edition and end up also buying the new one, which I'm sure will make you feel even worse than how you're feeling about the idea right now this is, of course, just a thought and for the Exquisite Familiars, yes you might not use it all that much at the end but for purely collecting purposes it looks really cute and like something you should totally have, just for the artwork
I wanted to compliment your makeup artistry on this video. I know looks are not what defines us, but makeup application has been a passion my whole life. You aced the Zoom look. I wish I could apply colour beneath like you do. Mine looks like an iZombie extra on set. 🤷🏼♀️
Do you mean the femininity that is present in anyone vs this femininity that seems to be woman-focused? If so, I tend to veer away from woman-centric stuff for this same reason. Mostly because I’m an afab non-binary person and it feels exclusionary.
YES Femininity that is too overly woman focused starts to feel very limited!! I read for clients of all genders, including non-binary folk, so I really only use really women-centric decks for myself or for those who I'm fairly confident will enjoy that kind of energy - which automatically limits their use.
I'm also put off by the exclusivity that a lot of decks seem to lean towards: I would think that most people with any maleness might feel it is difficult to hear the meaning when all the images are so utterly girly. I'm a grandma aged woman and I also get a bit put off by a lot of the images, just because they portray a type of woman that I am not, nor for that matter have never been.
Hobby Squirrel Master here! My husband and I even had squirrels as cake toppers at our wedding because we're both squirrels in our own ways.

Ooooof I may yet cave on that one! You're making some very convincing arguments!
I love decks that are very scary n confronting
I pair my Forest Fae Oracle with the mini The Tarot of Trees. These two are amazing together.
OMG that sounds like such a delightful pairing!!
Love these videos. You are funny fighting yourself about your adulting 😂💜❤️
Binge watching you
I have the textured tarot too and looking for another fabric style deck. great decks you showcased here. I, too love archetype cards. I have 2 of them so far (archetype cards and the sacred wealth-code oracle). As far as shamanism, what do you feel about the shamanic healing oracle? love the black chalkboard art style.
Check out Enchanted Tarot and Tarot of the North Atlantic for sure! I don't think I've seen the Shamanic Healing Oracle!
Love most of these decks you don't n I have
It’s funny because I just used the Future Ancestor last night, and I definitely use it more sparingly than I would otherwise because of the limited color palette.
I hear you on tenuous FOMO for SURE! ;) I'll try to keep it quiet but I mean I do tend to be a loudmouth about everything i'm up to on the channel sooooo.....
hobby squirrel? girl, that's just adhd. i have a love/hate relationship with being a hobby squirrel! love your channel!!
I am currently being tempted by the Future Ancestors Tarot! But I worry that it would compete too much with the Gentle Tarot since the art style for the figures is sort of similar in my mind. But the Gentle Tarot has all those lovely colors. (And I just ordered the deck with the new card stock...)
Also, I was similarly disappointed with the other recent Colette deck, Oracle of the 7 Energies. I thought it’d be like an updated version of her older decks with art I liked better, but it all just felt really flat to me. I can’t really explain why.
YES!! OMG the Gentle Tarot probably scratches that itch even better than Witches Wisdom! I was disappointed by Oracle of teh 7 Energies also :( :( I didn't pick it up but I did get to see it in person and it fell so flat for me - and I was excited thinking it was gonna be a Chakra deck but ... mrr... not for me.
I wonder if it was my deck mod of sacred destiny you saw 😃
It may have been!
Hi, just popping by to clarify that the deck's creator, Cedar McCloud, uses they/them pronouns! :)
Hey Lisa! How do i get in on some of your anti-haul decks? Do you post them somewhere?
My purchase regrets? :) Much like my This or That or declutters, I put decks i"m thinking of rehoming in a bit of a holding place for a WHILE usually... then if I do decide to declutter, mass market decks typically go to local metaphysical bookshops to resell (I get store credit), or I gift them sometimes to friends. Indie decks I often will list for trade in my Supportive Tarot fb group on Tarot Trade Tuesday also. :)
I'm kind of curious did you consider backing the Lucine tarot on Kickstarter?
nope... too similar to other things i have!
Out of context comment, You might get this a lot But you look a Lot like Adele. 😋🙏🍀✨
WOAH! Nope, sure don't - but that is the sweetest comment! Thank you!
Disclaimer!!!!
LISA!
in the following comment i intend to persuade you to actually buy 2 of the decks unhauled on the video and you might want to skip it!!!!!!

I mean
you know you like the numinous tarot
you know you'll like the new cardstock better for matching purposes
you know you LOVE to match your decks
and since your current copy is basically new
why don't you just sell the one you already have and get the new one before you grow accustomed to this edition and end up also buying the new one, which I'm sure will make you feel even worse than how you're feeling about the idea right now
this is, of course, just a thought
and for the Exquisite Familiars, yes you might not use it all that much at the end but for purely collecting purposes it looks really cute and like something you should totally have, just for the artwork
LOL This is the BEST! Thank you!!!
36:33 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
BAHAHAHA Glad you appreciated that - I was having a super dramatic moment I noticed in editing so I just bumped up the drama LOL
I wanted to compliment your makeup artistry on this video. I know looks are not what defines us, but makeup application has been a passion my whole life. You aced the Zoom look. I wish I could apply colour beneath like you do. Mine looks like an iZombie extra on set. 🤷🏼♀️
Aw thank you!!! What's the Zoom look tho? Makeup is so fun!! Makeuptube is where I spend a lot of my time when I'm not watching TarotTube LOL
