@Teo Torriatte I love this, thank you. It's no mean feat to push a shy personality out this far, but Freddie revels in it, and looks very much the part. Seems to be all his own work too
So many people think he was outrageous and bombastic and wanted everything his own way, but that's just a persona he put on for the stage and in a lot of interviews. In reality he was shy, kind, and empathetic.
38:51 When Freddie corrected the interviewer saying Queen’s sound isn’t _”HIS_ sound”, it’s a “Queen sound” as a quartet, was in classic Freddie style! I’ve heard him say that in _multiple_ interviews, and he was always very adamant about giving each member of Queen EQUAL credit, which makes me respect him even more than I already did. After all, they all sang and they all wrote their own songs on Queen albums.
Despite his fame and money, he ALWAYS came across as a simple guy with a great sense of humor. He didn't let fame go to his head. AND he was a cat lover, he would call to talk to his cats while on tour. It is such a shame he died of AIDS. He had a voice that could probably shatter glass. He would hit and hold notes like no other. And he always had that special love for Mary, a love that is RARE and beautiful.
I know Tanja your right. Isn't that everyone's dream to have a sincere love of your life. Always sex and infatuation fade but real love is a totally different thing.
He didn't let fame go to his head?? Do you even realize what you have written there. I don't know how much you know about freddie's life, probably not much or else you wouldn't have said that. As much as I adore Freddie, fame DID go to his head, all the wealth and popularity turned him into a wreckless party animal who used tons of drugs and slept with hundreds of people.
The fact that the last things he wanted to accomplish before his death were basically the things he always did, shows how real he was and how money was never his objective, the music was.
Freddie comes across a such a genuine person. I always loved Queen when they became popular in my college years. We all figured - even back then -that he was gay - but no one cared. We just loved the music. RIP Freddie... we miss you.
I was a horny teen in the 80's and I had no clue Freddie was gay --- he had a very macho persona onstage and you don't really see that in flamboyant gay men --- plus he sang with a baritone and most gays are high tenor
From about the age of 9 or 10 years old, I thought he was gay. I just always assumed that people that wore leather bikie caps were and I saw him wear one in a film clip lol
Totally agree, Mary. I cry pretty much daily watching & listening to him here on UA-cam! Such a sweet man with tons of genuine, original talent! Love You Forever, our Legend Freddie!

I hate smoking yet this man makes smoking look like the coolest thing in the world. The fact he can make a nasty habit like that look sexy shows the level of charm and charisma he had! His eyes and difined jawline are the best! What an absolutely talented man he was! I find him so interesting to watch. Very endearing.

I just love how he thinks everything through before answering a question. He is very intelligent obviously. I still am devastated at Freddie's passing. Watching videos and interviews I pretend he is still alive as he should be! He should be physically here where he belongs. He gave so much and had so much more to give. He is a unique genius. There aren't many, but he is definitely one. Thank GOD LEGENDS NEVER DIE. You will always be missed and loved Freddie.
So charming, even john lennon isn't as interesting. Freddie's interviews are so amazing because he's not as pretentious as musicians today. Also musicians had to answer difficult and smart questions in those days.
I love that he isn't pretentious at all. He just keeps it real, It's refreshing for a musician and nice considering a lot of annoying queens fans are pretentious.
The Spanish interview made me so happy. She was sitting there complimenting him and he had no idea what she was saying, and just blindly agreeing with her. It was so sweet!!!
In that Spanish interview, Freddie looks so nervous. His face appears swollen and he looks tired at the same time. I think his body was changing due to his illness. He is still so handsome, humble, and so eloquent. RIP FM, love you always!
@@JanSparkles1 The reason his face was changed was because of the medicine's side effects. The final show with her was the last time he performed live. He was really sick here, and she knew because he'd told her.
UA-cam makes me feel as though Freddie is still here. Saw Queen in 1978. Have been a fan forever. Still miss him. Would have love to have seen what a dynamic force he would be today.

Be sure to include the year of each interview, and post in chronological order...earliest to last. Find that expert to do an age progression (to 72), as was suggested...would be awesome to see.
Freddie is so intelligent, he knows his talent and what he can and cannot do! His abilities are limitless, such a humble perfectionist performer. He always has the right answer!
The honesty with which Freddie spoke about his songs to Bob Harris is electrifying. The essence of Freddie is there. It surpasses numerous other Freddie interviews where Freddie seems to hold back his deepest feelings about songs he's written that have captivated the world.
@@marie-joseemichaud5072 I also heard that he smoked during interviews because he noticed he fiddled around too much. Outside of interviews he didn't smoke very much
You forget how young he was when he died- the full effects of smoking never had the chance to hit. Had Freddie lived into his 50s, 60s and later, his voice would have suffered permanent damage. The added impact of simultaneous cocaine and alcohol really shortens a singers life and range. I'd you don't believe me, listen to early Elton John - a clear as a bell tenor- and Eltons sound today.
@@annamelanie5151 - Oh yes, I definitely know about Elton. He said he can't sing falsetto anymore because the drugs and booze permanently damaged his voice. Like the ending of Benny and the Jets when he sings in that high Mickey mouse type voice "Benny! Benny! Benny and the jeeets" He can't do that anymore which is sad because his voice was amazing
Freddie was always charming in interviews even when looks away showing his genuine shy nature. He just GIVES GOOD WORDS, GOOD THOUGHTS, AND GOOD DEEDS. ❤
I love Freddie's interviews, he can be impulsive at times but that's what draws me in, besides him being eye candy and the sound of his voice and laugh is music to my ears. Beautiful person inside and out, all that talent that cant replaced, God broke the mold with that one. RWG Freddie
Striking how he refused to get into the politics angle like so many entertainers today - "what kind of shit question is that?" I like that very much. Keep the widest possible audience that way. Smart.
this is exactly why the world is so shitty, because people refuse to get engaged and make it "not cool" when others want to influence their reality. You can try to ignore poliotics but it still rules your life.
@@ilonazielinska4591 The problem is people trying to impose their point of view into the minds of their followers, that is adoctrinatement, and Freddie Mercury was a free human being, and given his intelligence I doubt he wanted to inculcate any idea on people other than share his music and poetry.
Wonderful! I had not realized quite how charming, sparkling and witty Freddie was, also very spontaneous. I am in love with his gorgeous personality. Last weekend I was feeling a bit down, but watching you tube clips with or about Freddie Mercury have cheered me up so much. It does not feel as though he had been dead for 27 years, he is living on.
Rest in peace Freddie and Montserrat, she passed this last October. In recognition; here is her words translated in the interview that starts at 11:59 INTERVIEWER: Montserrat, when you were offered to record this disc, had you already listened to Freddie's piece? Or were you introduced to pieces when you agreed to work with him. MONTSERRAT: I've always listened to Freddie's music for many years, because my sons highly adore Freddie. So the voice and music of Freddie always sounds in my house, but something that felt familiar was his style, the smooth and imperative melodies that he puts out, it surprised me when he offered to work along side Freddie. So it was incredible to get the offer, and I am very excited for it! I found that the music was marvelous; when he sits on the piano & he played me his improvisations, his pieces and all his thoughts to compose for us in Spain seemed simply marvelous. Over all Freddie is such an excellent musician, and in compositions, really he is marvelous, he's magnificent.. INTERVIEWER: Freddie in the interview, in the weekly information you said you liked very much Montserrat cover, was it in that moment when you decided to make the record together, or the idea came before then? - FREDDIE SPEAKS - .....she liked it! Now she's a - a Rock & Roller! INTERVIEWER: How was the proposal to make this song Montserrat? MONTSERRAT: Musical! (Speaks to Freddie) Your proposal brought a musical one; and I loved it when Freddie came to Barcelona, his music sounded, the melody, his creations completely captivated me. INTERVIEWER: Freddie what do you think this record is going to mean in your career? - FREDDIE SPEAKS - .....wait until we're finished with some of the other ones, we're working on them! INTERVIEWER: Montserrat, this is the first time that you record a disc of this style, with these characteristics, why? MONTSERRAT: In the first place, to record a disc of this type, inspiration is needed to contain in a musical background. Only someone so musical, does not make me only proud, but it's a consultation and I can assure you, when Freddie sits down on the piano, and commences his improvisations, the melody his acts out and creates is marvelous, Freddie recommended me music which I had played at the Covent Garden in London on the 29th of March, which the British people simply adored. Freddie's music was comes from something very special, corresponding to the heart, for the heart. Freddie I say your music is from your heart, that's why it came to my heart. - FREDDIE SPEAKS - .....And the crowd just loved the kisses! INTERVIEWER: Freddie before the rehearsals had started, what was the thing that worried you the most? - FREDDIE SPEAKS - .....and um, I think people have to listen to it and make up their own minds. INTERVIEWER: Montserrat, is there anything that might worry you? MONTSERRAT: In the music, no. But I do have worries to be able to interpret Freddie's music, I want it to be real, and felt overall form both voices to mix right, and at the same time, to have the expression, because in example; when Freddie and I had from the start began forming these, ideas for Barcelona, the lyrics, words we found that the music expresses about Barcelona, about it's beauty, and to wish to come to such a beautiful place. I profoundly appreciate Freddie for making this for our city, I also find that the verses start with a grand smoothness and harmony, the singing proceeds to have such great expression to finish with such an enthusiastic climax - "Out of this world!" *Laughs* INTERVIEWER: Freddie would you like for this song to become the OFFICIAL SONG IN THE OLYMPIC GAMES FOR BARCELONA IN 92'? - FREDDIE SPEAKS - Yes yes of course!.....in fact for everybody, I hope they like it? INTERVIEWER: Montserrat, how did the representation of Barcelona and has the decision for place of performance come about? MONTSERRAT: It seems to me to be very beautiful, because they found to choose the appropriate place so excellent, our sea, is our sea. Our air, is our air. So this place is very marvelous, it's the first thing you see when you come here. - INTERVIEWER & FREDDIE SPEAK - ....They're all gonna listen to it, of course it starts here. INTERVIEWER: What is the next step in your career Freddie? - FREDDIE SPEAKS - .....Im lookjing forward to all that time INTERVIEWER: Montserrat, this scenario, with the younger people and this type of music isn't what your used to. Do you think this will bring you closer to the youth? MONTSERRAT: Well to be perfectly honest, the youth's always come to the opera, and at the same time, I think this approach of two voices, because Freddie holds such an amazing Soprano, is maintained in a line, where no one has experimented with such a mix as well as Freddie has come up. - FREDDIE SPEAKS - .....And I think we've done it! INTERVIEWER: Don't go now because they are going to offer you a congratulatory gift of a silver plaque of a ship in honor of this amazing show in representation of the Santa Maria. -END- Hope someone read this.
It really does pain me to know that we've suffered such a great loss. Freddie was truly an amazing man, a brilliant musician and performer, and undoubtedly the greatest showman we will ever have!
@James Well you are very much so correct, I do believe Freddie was extremely wreckless with his actions and his death could've been avoidable. However, I didn't say any of that because he's dead, and yes there are PLENTY of other great showmen. But in my opinion Freddie gave us something many didn't, just so sad he couldn't have stayed longer. He had so much more music left in him.
@James @James I would be surprised if you name ONE of todays "star" that has the talent, the skills, the impact, the diversity and the intelligence of Freddie. You know quite well there isn't . And who are you to judge who gave AIDS to whom? His lovers ( like Paul Prenter,Tony Bastin) died of Aids prior to him. On top, Freddie was known to be a very generous, considerate & kind human being to everyone, so very much the opposite of reckless.
@@niamhsorcha3091 ,I think so too.If it was him who gave AIDS to those lovers of him or whatever how come he died years later then them??As AIDS works and all steps makes you come through first to die is Freddie and after him his boyfriends, isn·t it?
Poor Freddie, he was so nervous doing this interview, he gets fidgety when he’s nervous, he’s so sweet and she’s so beautiful, God Bless them both and may they RIP ... God must love to listen to them sing to him up there .......✝️🙏
When he said at the end of that longish interview on the white couch, "You've got to keep going. I think there's so much we still have to do!" What an enormous talent, and a great loss to music and culture to lose him so young.
This collection of interviews is a genuine treasure. Thank you. It was sad, for me, to see Freddie in the interview with Montserrat Caballé. At this point he knew his chances weren't good, and you can see it in his eyes.
It's heartbreaking. Just to think about all the stuff he did toward the end of his life, still writing, singing, recording, and filming music videos when he could barely walk. It just shows he wasn't ready to go at all. Poor Freddie, the world will never forget him.
This was actually a lot more interesting for me to watch than the movie Bohemian Rhapsody. That was a good movie, but this allows you to get as good of glimpse at the man Freddy actually was that you'll ever get without have knowing him first hand. He seemed like a great person and a lot of fun to be around. It's sad how famous people are usually only remembered for their talent, and rarely ever for themselves. This would be an instance where I think it's safe to say, the man lives up to his legend in every aspect, not just his music.
It's so weird and cute to see Montserrat and Freddie! You can tell they both have great admiration for each other. They are both adorable. Now I'm sad. Jesus.
You should hear the recordings from when they first met. They met sometime in the evening and sang all night until the sun came up. Freddy tried to end the session out of respect and Mon refused and wanted to keep singing. You can tell there was an Instant connection between the two.
40 minutes in, I love how this self described “hysterical queen” is so adamant about the Queen sound being ALL four of them, not just him. He may be a diva, but is always humble and thankful. (I’m speaking of him in the present because Freddie will never truly die ❤️)
Freddie was beautiful. I love that the movie has really made people remember Freddie. It’s nice all these years later to hear how much he meant to so many people.
What a tremendous, heartbreaking waste - the loss of such creative genius, of such a unique voice & personality as Freddie Mercury's in his prime, to his family & friends, his band-mates & fans, & to the world at-large. Granted, there will be other great talents, but his was one of a kind; & altho I can finally once again watch/listen w/a laugh & a smile at his honesty & attitude, I will never completely get over the absence of his voice. Thank heavens for the snippets of his spirit that were captured on film & via the musical recordings we still enjoy. Blessed Be, Farrokh Bulsara - may u forever Rock in Peace.
Don't forget. He would have been 72 today. The energy, and voice no longer the same. And certainly he would not have looked the same. That should make getting over the "absence of his voice" easy. Logical .It's not like he died yesterday when he was 45 .
Such a totured soul. He was so afraid to be alone. He was will so surround himself with toxic people to not be left alone. I wish he knew how many people actually cared for him and loved him. He did not have to be so self destructive just for validation. I'm screaming to the heavens FREDDIE WE LOVE YOU!
Immensely talented-- in so many ways. Being a great rock star was enough already, but to be able to do things like "Barcelona" and other projects. Remarkable that he accomplished so much in his all too short life. And on top of all this, so humble.
He was truly one of a kind and a beautiful human being. I loved his humor and personality, especially the moment where he pinched the cheek of the interviewer. How adorable. 😊❤
This man was brilliant he knew his presence with the elite he never went over board , there will never be a replica , replacement, or a talent like him , I have my tickets from his concerts and now I’m a mother to an artist , his music is irresistible and irreplaceable , never never will Be such a voice , I thank you for this video 🥰
now watching this makes me realize just how much effort went into Rami Malek's portrayal. He got Freddie down to the last tiny impression even. if he doesn't get an oscar for that, I'll be mad.
Actually Rami didn't talk in Freddie's mannerism, was less confident and a little bit clenched. Freddie talk quite fast, very calm but mixed with theatrical gestures and explosiveness, eloquent, confident and cheeky.
Not at all. Freddie was much more confident and eloquent than portrayed in the movie. I'm sure he's a good actor, and had it not been biographic, I would've enjoyed the movie and the character he played.
@@kyl6864 On stage he was 100% arrogant and Rami made only 80%. I saw Qeen in Dusseldorf in the mi 70s and Freddie was a bit lacklustre in his Harlequin suit. Rami was more like then.

Amazing, this interview shows how brilliant Freddie was, and how nice a person he was. It breaks my heart that I missed out on Queen and just got to know about them recently-after 1 November 2018 when I watched Bohemian Rhapsody for the first time (seen 5 times and still counting). No one can ever replace freddie mercury. The way he perform is so amazing. The way he move, his wonderful voice and his fantastic half microphone stand. He always give his 100% in everything that he do even at the time that he knows already that he cannot live any longer, he still doing what he love and still positive in things. We all have ups and downs and flaws but what matters most is that we learned from it and do the best things in life...because life still goes on. As long as we live we still have chances to change everything and be good until the end of our race on earth.
Freddie is a Virgo, the perfectionist of the universe. And, he chose the ruler of Virgo, the planet Mercury, as his stage name. He is a classic Virgo, shy, modest, hard working, controlling in the background, conciliatory and a great communicator.
@ShayQueen i don't doubt that, im just simply pointing out how good he is at working with his shyness. I admire it almost. But you have to admit when hes on stage he ain't shy!
The tone of his speaking voice...his accent. The fact that just beneath it there's a COSMIC FORCE which is his SINGING voice is just amazing to me. 💎💎💎💎
Grew up listening to Queen but thanks to social media ,we ,who weren’t fortunate enough to know Freddie personally ,can get to know him better than we ever did back then....
He's so handsome I can't focus on the interview. I always have to watch them a few times to know what he's saying, in the middle of the video I always find myself being like "oh those eyes look at those eyes he's so mesmerizing i'm dying wow i have no idea what he's talking about right now but THOSE EYES WOW" and then I have to rewind cause he says such interesting things... but yeah his face doesn't help with my attention deficit disorder lmao
There is so much about Freddie Mercury that we knew and so much that we could not. To this day, I am thankful and amazed by his determination to ever continue to move in new directions. To incorporate elements from different musical styles. And underneath all the strong statements, just a truly sensitive, talented and determined artist. I think he may have been most comfortable on stage … in most interviews he is restive and as I think as an introvert an interview is tough. I wish the world during his last days had treated him better, had not tried to make him a spectacle due to the fact that he had AIDs, had come to grips with some of his internal struggles and found a way to be more compassionate.
“Its a different kind of singing. I mean I can scream beautifully for 3 days but then I drop dead”. Freddie Mercury explaining one of the reasons he’s not suitable for a theatre run. Love him lol
The interview with Montserrat is absolutely amazing. He is genuinely genius and a very kind human being. Everything kind of him can be seen in her smile.

Freddie comes across a such a genuine person. I always loved Queen when they became popular in my college years. We all figured - even back then -that he was gay - but no one cared. We just loved the music. RIP Freddie... we miss you.
You all figured?how?!
He wasn't gay. He was bi.
I was a horny teen in the 80's and I had no clue Freddie was gay --- he had a very macho persona onstage and you don't really see that in flamboyant gay men --- plus he sang with a baritone and most gays are high tenor
He was a PITCHER AND A CATCHER.
From about the age of 9 or 10 years old, I thought he was gay. I just always assumed that people that wore leather bikie caps were and I saw him wear one in a film clip lol

I hate smoking yet this man makes smoking look like the coolest thing in the world. The fact he can make a nasty habit like that look sexy shows the level of charm and charisma he had!
Got that right! He's one of a kind, in every century only few legends are born and he was one of the 20 century, if not the principal.
The older he got the better looking he got. I wonder what he would have looked like today, at the age of 72. 😍
Maybe we could get a computer expert to do an age progression like they do for missing people.
The mustache balanced his face and increased his handsomeness, if that was possible.
@Niashe Not Freddie. It would have been bright white, not gray.
@Niashe Freddie was always more vain than the rest.
He would have been bloody glorious that's what. Those cheekbones and that jawline and chin can't possibly age badly.
So charming, even john lennon isn't as interesting. Freddie's interviews are so amazing because he's not as pretentious as musicians today. Also musicians had to answer difficult and smart questions in those days.
Astute observation. 👏👏👏❤
I love that he isn't pretentious at all. He just keeps it real, It's refreshing for a musician and nice considering a lot of annoying queens fans are pretentious.
Still I feel like if the Beatles didn’t come, there wouldn’t have been a queen..
Well, I don't know how interesting Lennon is now since he died 11 years before Mercury, do you think Lennon is still alive?

The Spanish interview made me so happy. She was sitting there complimenting him and he had no idea what she was saying, and just blindly agreeing with her. It was so sweet!!!

In that Spanish interview, Freddie looks so nervous. His face appears swollen and he looks tired at the same time. I think his body was changing due to his illness. He is still so handsome, humble, and so eloquent. RIP FM, love you always!

Freddie was, is and always will be the greatest. Forever.
I love how Freddie was so much different from everyone and didn’t care about anybody’s opinions. He was a true legend ❤️❤️
The honesty with which Freddie spoke about his songs to Bob Harris is electrifying. The essence of Freddie is there. It surpasses numerous other Freddie interviews where Freddie seems to hold back his deepest feelings about songs he's written that have captivated the world.

Chain smoker and he had that voice, incredible.
He liked what smoking did to his voice, that it made it more "cracky".He only started smoking in 1980.
@@marie-joseemichaud5072 I also heard that he smoked during interviews because he noticed he fiddled around too much. Outside of interviews he didn't smoke very much
@@becklee94 Yeah I heard that too !

You can try to ignore poliotics but it still rules your life.
ugh. If more people had spoken up about doing something about AIDS sooner, perhaps he'd still be around today.

In recognition; here is her words translated in the interview that starts at 11:59
INTERVIEWER: Montserrat, when you were offered to record this disc, had you already listened to Freddie's piece?
I profoundly appreciate Freddie for making this for our city, I also find that the verses start with a grand smoothness and harmony, the singing proceeds to have such great expression to finish with such an enthusiastic climax - "Out of this world!" *Laughs*
INTERVIEWER: Freddie would you like for this song to become the OFFICIAL SONG IN THE OLYMPIC GAMES FOR BARCELONA IN 92'?
- FREDDIE SPEAKS - .....Im lookjing forward to all that time
INTERVIEWER: Montserrat, this scenario, with the younger people and this type of music isn't what your used to.

Hope someone read this.

@James So he knew full well he could get aids but carried on regardless? bit daft.. great showman though and had a great personality.
@@niamhsorcha3091 ,I think so too.If it was him who gave AIDS to those lovers of him or whatever how come he died years later then them??As AIDS works and all steps makes you come through first to die is Freddie and after him his boyfriends, isn·t it?

What an enormous talent, and a great loss to music and culture to lose him so young.
I noticed that too. That bright light he had in his eyes in the early years seems that is gone in the interview with Caballé.
By 1987 Freddie knew his time was short --- his entire demeanor changed from the happy bravado he showed at the 1986 Wembley concert
I love how he was so straight up and honest while he smoked a ciggy 😂😂😂
Freddie always had that mischievous twinkle in the eye during interviews he enjoyed. Absolutely unforgetable !!! 😉

I'm screaming to the heavens FREDDIE WE LOVE YOU!

now watching this makes me realize just how much effort went into Rami Malek's portrayal.

Amy Winehouse was a virgo too❤
The tone of his speaking voice...his accent. The fact that just beneath it there's a COSMIC FORCE which is his SINGING voice is just amazing to me. 💎💎💎💎
Beautifully said. 👏
I know exactly what you mean. He is just mesmerizing to watch. You get entranced by his handsomeness.
He's like a naughty angel with a halo he's constantly adjusting....
Yesss he is so dreamy, I'm amazed by his beauty
This is very interesting. Thanks so much for posting. Freddie was such a lovely person and appears to be loads of fun !!!!
Love him lol
also that he can't wake up to do a matinee. LOL..
He’s a sweetheart❤️❤️❤️
@@Nina-oi1qkI get that!!!👍🤗💞
The interview with Montserrat is absolutely amazing. He is genuinely genius and a very kind human being. Everything kind of him can be seen in her smile.
The interview with Freddie and Montserrat is really impressive and sweet. Great collection
I could tell she really loved him!
