I heard this band playing live at the California Bluegrass Association Father’s Day Festival in Grass Valley this June 2024 - these musicians are really really good bluegrass musicians, singers, songwriters, all around just great musicians. They played live on KKUP 91.5 in Santa Clara tonight, Monday Night Bluegrass- wonderful to hear them!
At a couple of points, you can really see the advantage of a fiddle player who is also a classically trained violinist. Certain musical vibes are only possible when the fiddle player can shift into "violinist mode" and produce that classical tone out of the instrument.
I just saw these guys in Dixon California and they were pretty damn good. It’s nice to see that. Their dreams are coming true because their next stop was Nashville Tennessee. I hope them the best they are truly talented.
Great musicality from Korea and its playing style in bluegrass. This interpretation may be more of folk genre than bluegrass. I understand the lyrics and it is not about the everyday Americana. Originated from the early 1900s starting with the Carter Family, I believe bluegrass gives the soul of Southern/Mountain people a voice. Soul of the southern white folk music. I hope they can progress into their own genre in their playing style. However, it may best be served as bluegrass Americana if they experience more of the Mountain Bluegrass and Honky Tonk Music not as notes but as lyrics. That may convey more of the true bluegrass to the public. Great job! Hope to hear them live when I am in Korea soon.
This is a professional band. Their like a Asian Zach Brown. The accented timing of the different instruments is impeccable. This is the second Asian band today I've seen on UA-cam. I'm grateful bluegrass is appreciated elsewhere.
I dont know how i got here but im glad i did. Im a West Virginia Hillbilly. Bluegrass is the music of my people. I aint got a clue what yall said but ill second that! Excellent! I love it!
I listened and played bluegrass since my teenage years. Y’all beak all the stereotypes of what it means to enjoy good bluegrass! I truly hope y’all make it to beautiful Nashville!
I live in the US for decades I never listen to this kind of music but I am shocked because you guys are so good that make me have to watch this and very addictive. Thank you for your video. I’m glad I found you. I don’t know how long you’ve been out there but I finally found you tonight. Wow ,!!!impressive you guys are amazing.
I came home after walking home through the rain and a full days work to my lovely wife from Soul and a beautiful homemade Korean meal. She played some country music as I like it from time to time. I thought, "I just wonder if..." Searched and there you were.... Lovely music..... thank you... Séamus and Yumi Dublin
I have been in KOrea for over 4 years and I just found your band. Amazing playing and vocals Hope to catch you live someday soon near the Camp Humphreys Pyeongtaek Base!
Fantastic! Loved all the songs, especially the 2nd, and the last...both very beautiful. Great musicians and wonderful voices. Have to add, that my cat LOVES YOU!! She has literally climbed into my arms and is rubbing my phone while this is playing!!!! (I'm her "Other Human" so this is unusual for her to do...so she's enjoying listening to you!!!)
then you never really seen or experience bluegrass in its entirety. I know it's your opinion and you have every right to express it, and i stand by you in voicing your opinion freely. now that we got your opinion out of the way, I'm just giving you some facts when i say you never really seen or experience bluegrass in its entirety if ypu say you never seen ANY BLUEGRASS GROUP in the U.S. play with so much joy as this group had. You're either lying or just talking shit. All im saying is that You don't have to lie to give these people there credit for representing themselves in a perfectly old-timey bluegrass way.
Bluegrass is an infectious genre of music,it is played internationally and the groups that I ve listened to here,on,you tube, sure enjoy the music they play and I enjoy listening to them. This music sure beats the hell out of the crazy mixed up music they play nowadays.More of this should be played on air aho
Brijant ... thanks a lot. From a culture perspective, South Korea is going through a "Golden Age', cinematic, literature, economically (though that might be allready in decline, as usual, cf. the Dutch Republic, where the economic Golden Age was late 16th and early 17th centurey, but the cultural Golden Age was mid- and late 17th), architectural etc. Great to see. Enjoy it
Wow - really nice. I feel for you too - bluegrass isn't big in Australia, and not having an active scene, or musical history makes it very hard to pick up the style, particularly at the high level that Country Gongbang are playing. Well done - great stuff.
Hey Mike,I listen to many international bluegrass groups on you tube and,i m glad to say there are many from Australia, too bad that they may not be close to you but try you tube
Hey Mike me again from Ontario canada, sending you some aussie bands you might want to check out,Mustard Courage, flying emus, rank strangers, davidson brothers,a bit worry, high st drifters, bonja, the greencards, don t know if your close but you can check, have a great new year
@@doowoppapa I'll surely look into them. There have been some really good bluegrass players here over the years, but very few, and not many around Sydney. There are a lot of Irish music sessions, so I'm contemplating how to join in with those in a meaningful manner.
Just thoroughly excellent musically and the original songs are so enjoyable, despite the language barrier! Thanks Country Gongbang for your music and to IBMA for including and promoting international bands performing to a high level in the genre. All the best from Yorkshire, England!
This group needs to have a jam session with Steve Martin, Earl Scrubs and friends. Seeing all of them jamming out on stage would be something I would definitely want to see and hear.
@@alan4sure like a decade ago, but if you want to get all technically stupid about it, okay then, i meant with Steve Martin and friends. my point being is that they should come by our neck of the woods and play with some of the great players of bluegrass that are still playing to this day.

Didn't understand a word of the songs, but that last one nearly had me in tears.

Wowowow!!! Awesome jams all the way around! Loved it!
This is definitely in my opinion one of the greatest Asian bluegrass artists to come along since bluegrass 45. I absolutely adore country gangbong.

The music as a universal language spoken all over the world. Thanks for that bluegrass moment.
All five are excellent with their instruments.. but she, she, she.. well her singing gives me watery eyes. So beautiful!
THIS IS ACTUALLY IS VERY VERY INNOVATIVE BLUEGRASS
...😊....wait until you discover bluegrass mixed with "metal"...(even if it isn't to your taste, the combination is just perfection!!)
I am in shocked, and I have goosebumps… I say in my head, what have I been?
What a superb banjo, they could hold there own anywhere
