Im turning 58 tomorrow and i have a 550sx that I've had since I was a young girl. My ski is pretty much stock except for impeller, ride plate, handle bars and bilge system. For me at 120 lbs it suit me just fine. Lol anyways wish I could ride with u guys.
@@doublem6027 Probably not, sorry. Me and the other guy in the video hold onto any 550sx (reed motors) that we get our hands on. They're pricey and inevitably going to get more valuable as time goes on.
If it's a 1991-1994 550sx, I would absolutely scoop it up. The earlier models (Pre-1991) have different engines and often result in you trying to fix it more often than riding it. Just my two cents.
Nice ski. I’m looking at picking up two 550’s this weekend. Your actually riding right in front of my house lol. Had to add some extra fenders on my boat from all the extra standup wake. You have a key to the launch as masons beach? I’ll pay for a copy.
oh no way 😂 sorry bout the wake, it’s like the only good spot to ride where there’s no kayakers to worry about. I’m not the one with a key and the guy who does won’t give it out sorry. Feel free to come ride whenever though, we’re usually out on the river at least once or twice a week.
Well thank you... I'm actually the one on the black ski. Sponsons are nice but you don't need them to carve. Watch the 80s/90s race videos and try to see how the top guys did it (ie. Jacobs, Fischetti, Goacher, Sheldon). One piece of advice I can give is, when you are going in for a butt-turn, don't stick your ass out too far over the tray rail. If you are going in for a carve and your body hits the water before the bond rail does, it's likely going to make you high-side and fall. Squat down, let off the throttle and slightly shift your weight over the tray rail, then quickly get back on throttle. Also, keep your weight centered (head should be in-line/slightly over the chin pad). If you are too far back in the tray, the ski's going to slide. Keep practicing and don't be afraid to fall, you'll figure it out.
It's a ported reed on 110 octane, MSD total loss ignition, factory pipe half pipe, mikuni 44 carb, bored exit nozzle, and all the other goodies like a prop, etc.
Definitely need some more footage. Ur absolutely shredding that place! Love it.
Awesome! You’re really fast and that ski sounds amazing
You got a great spot to ride!
I’m a 550/650 guy from Lodi. Love our spot. Be cool to meet you guys some time
We go out nearly every weekend. Look out for someone riding a teal-blue 550 or blue RN superjet

Love to hear that! Keep riding as long as you can. If you don’t use it, ya lose it :)
Great to hear that . Gives me a lot of confidence. Are you thinking of selling it any time soon?

Dude, where did you get the steer pole? Been lookin all over for one or one I can make fit.
It was custom made by someone on the 550 facebook group. Can’t remember who though
Are those skis wrapped or air brushed? They look sick!
I would definitely say airbrush work
Not sure. The one with an aftermarket pole has some airbrush forsure. Not the whole thing though
How can the bloke on the black ski rip so hard without rear sponsons?

Monster 550 reed cylinder porting + total loss + 215+ compression makes her scream. It’s my boy’s ski that he races in the vintage class.
