    I do not understand why no more countries have this system for emergency medical transport. The cooperation between the police and the ambulance driver is amazing. Ill patient will come safely and quickly to the best special care.

      Biker Boiy The time gain is in the non-stopping, not so much in the speed. If there was a patient on board, it would imply that the ambulance nurse could be working in the back without a seatbelt. This is an enormous risk. Hence the relatively low speed of code 3 (A1) driving, especially in curves and dense traffic situations.

    I've been watching these videos for a few weeks and yesterday I went out in the car and I encountered a motorcycle police escort here in Suffolk in the UK. Very rare to see it here. They were very clear in directing me and I felt a new found respect for them! I made a point to give a clear hand signal of respect to them!

    Look at this clip. From start, until the end, the ambulance doesn't stop at all!
    I'm in South Korea, we NEED this system. Especially in my country, we always have heavy traffic in the city. Ambulance always stop though they turn on the siren and emergency lights.
    Team Verkeer you guys are so awesome.

    • @wolf310ii
      @wolf310ii 5 років тому +4

      I dont think this wouldnt work in Korea, first you need changes in the traffic law like form rescue lane, give right of way to emergency vehicles, dont block intersections ect.
      I saw a video of an ambulance in asia, that was horrible, the drivers just dont give a fuck. A police officer on a scooter tryed to help, but he had to tell every single driver what to do.
      In most european countrys, most of the drivers know what to do if a ambulance, fire truck or police car shows up with siren and lights.
      The only thing the escort changes, the driver can react befor the ambulace arrives

    Dit is echt mooi om te zien hoe de ambulance en commandant te werk gaan en het commentaar van de instructeur die aan geeft wat er fout gaat en beter kan.

    Free 2 Woodwork. As an ex Paramedic in the U.K. I’ve had 3 police escorts in my career. Most of the time we were never that far away from a hospital so there is no need for police escorts. If the average driver were to pay more attention to the roads things would be much easier for us. Alas, people seem to spend more time looking at their phones and radios than they do in their mirrors.

    • @Partyaap050
      @Partyaap050 9 років тому +26

      GaborBartal Yes it's a training but we use this commonly in major cities in The Netherlands. It's not about speed it's about giving the ambulance a smooth ride from point A to point B. Without changing lanes or braking too much. You have 1 or 2 bikes (2 in this case) who clear the roads ahead and 1 commander bike (directly in front of the ambulance) who warns the ambulance for speed bumps. It's faster and saver here to escort an ambulance rather than letting it drive alone. But it's used almost only for young kids or major injuries like neck and spine or resuscitation (CPR).

    I think those bikes are slowing the ambulance down instead of helping it go faster...

      bheboxful It's not about the speed. It's about providing a smooth ride without the ambulance suddenly braking or chancing course etc.

      I guess this escort as a driver transporting value immensely. In particular are the intersections to cross much faster and with less stress. We can focus totally on our job - to drive.

      bheboxful Nope. They clear intersections and warn the ambulance for speed bumps.

      +bheboxful It's not the speed they do this for. Transporting critical patients is more about a smooth ride, as bumps and breaking can be the thing, that kills the patient.

    Shouldn't the driver of the ambulance be dictating the speed of the trip?

      helicopters aren't always available as they might be on other calls already; Not every hospital has a helipad. Not every patient is stable enough to be transported by a helicopter; Some patients are too heavy for a helicopter

    The cop in front of the ambulance is incredibly annoying.

    • @Thedogbond
      @Thedogbond 8 років тому +32

      +CptSchmidt Why is that? Hand signals to show bumps and changes of speed all done perfectly. He held a good speed and never stopped. Textbook job!

    • @CptSchmidt
      @CptSchmidt 8 років тому +5

      Thedogbond Not saying he was bad at it, just annoying. If this were a real emergency, he actually cost the ambulance time. He also kept trying to assert authority over the ambulance by pointing to places it was already going. He behaved as though the ambulance was utterly incompetent and needed his direction, which made no discernible difference in how the ambulance would have been driven anyway. The role of a police escort isn't to tell the ambulance how to drive, it's to clear traffic so the ambulance can get to the hopsital safely and unimpeded by traffic.

      +CptSchmidt Close. The goal isn't necessarily to get there as fast as possible, but driving as smooth possible while doing it. This to ease work or pain for people in the back. The handsignals were either to indicate a lane change or a speed change. The driver executed this perfectly. As stated in the description, the ambulance needs to stay as close to the last bike as possible for the rest of the traffic to keep out of the way. How the last driver acts is based on traffic that we can't see but the bike driver knows, through their communication. In some places the bike did go a bit too slow, but you could hear the instructor say so in the video. This would of course be evaluated. Overall, an escort like this makes for a better travel and an easier job for the ambulance driver. I hope this clears things up for you.

      Did you realize the ambulance normally cannot hear th police radio and has to rely 100% on the officer in front? he is the commander of the trip and he has to stay in front of the ambulance. He also controls the speed so the officers in front have enough time to clear the intersections. they quantity a no-show and little bump ride instead of racing to intersections, where it still full.
