Here we deviate- just like you say the outs for stopping Runick can be out of reach, you also can simply not draw enough or the right outs against more standard decks, or they have the counters to them ready. the difference when your on the losing side against more standard decks is that the match may end before you could ever see them in any way, or the opponent could build their boardstate past when it would be helpful (enough protection, negates or some other detail), and in the Runick case the card is more physically out of reach, and you get to see it. to me it's a similar thing even though it can feel different. when everyone ran desires, the arguments for running it included "you won't play long enough to see those cards you banished anyway". others have equated it to those cards being on the bottom of the deck if your against a standard build. when i face a mill Runick and they hit one of my outs, I can determine if I've lost or not from that position, whereas with most other decks there's nothing to determine if im on the losing side- my face is getting punched in, my cards didn't stack up or i got outplayed, and the only question is how much showboating is the other player going to do until they finish me. often enough it's a another full combo off of 1-2 cards. I fully expect Runick to get hit more, to the cheering of the crowd, which feels like Spright just has to mess up my entire wheelhouse of interest. I'm just not happy that a reason it will be is how many are using it as yet another combo deck piece because its an admittedly good option to set things off. there wasn't enough ways to do that apparently so people had to take one of the few dedicated alt win-con archetypes and use it's cards as E-teles for boards that do similar things other boards do, but take a bit longer to finish the game. meanwhile I constantly see people saying even just liking the archetype is apparently an issue. to me, runick doesn't break anything. Just about all the meta around it came as or more busted before Runick did, and Id say the banlists im seeing put out in physical play back that up with how many meta relevant and potential upcoming MD cards are banned or limited in Bo3 formats. Either way, I do hope your decks of choice don't get a fresh visit from the lists, even if you don't care if something I waited a good decade for konami to try and do gets taken out.
@@zekiel2533 "Idk what to tell you runick players. If Konami hits your strategy that's too bad. 'We do not care'" I'm totally fine with Konami hitting Fountain and Tip to 2. I recognize Runick's power, I just find it irritating that it's the focus of people's ire so often even when bullshit like the Ishizu-Necroface FTK keeps you from playing the game *REGARDLESS* of your deck's composition. There's also the fact that a lot of what makes Runick so reviled is the same thing that people hated about Eldlich; the ease with which you could just get back resources, play like 1 monster at a time, and hide behind floodgates. Was that the _only_ place Edlich worked? No. Does Runick work in more decks than Eldlich did? Yes. But when someone said/says "Eldlich" or "Runick" is the floodgate variant usually what they were referring to when they talked about it being toxic? Abso-motherfucking-lutely. (Which is why it's such bullshit that Konami semi'd Gozen but didn't even *TOUCH* There Can Only Be One. Seriously, what in the everloving fuck Konami?)
so wait. this guys biggest floodgate during the fight was a bagooska off an amano he didn't even keep in rotation, and this still annoys? yeah, okay, at this point theres nothing pure runick can do that won't be considered toxic. im so bored of how many variations of "ban this deck" i've seen at this point, tagged to a video where yet ANOTHER out to it is located. when i versed this deck i still pulled out more wins then it's competition, and unlike other decks, ill give it leeway because the intended playstyle is something other then "construct massive board, negate opponent for some turns, beat face, go home" and actually does an alt-win con at that. But apparently the only way to play this deck remotely "okay" in the eyes of the playerbase is as yet another combo deck.

as to hybrid strategies, I disagree that Runick getting added to these others becomes toxic. considering what Spright and Ishizu did separately, it's safe to say they were already well past trouble all on their own before Runick. we had pre bans for spright (which had to hit a thing i was doing at the time), and Ishizu is more known right now for general chaos builds, grass builds, and Branded. and thats ignoring the placement of these two sets of cards in the physical game, where spright pulled multiple high end deck spots until it was mass banned/limited, and we all know what Ishizu did.
'We do not care'"
I'm totally fine with Konami hitting Fountain and Tip to 2. Frankly, that should've been what they did in the first goddamn place instead of the just shy of nothing they did by semi-limiting the other Quick-Plays.
