      I would be a huge Blue Origin fan, too. Only if they weren't such big a-holes, slowing down Space X with environmental complaints, all this while they failed to put anything in orbit. I love Space X because of what it stands for. Innovation, privately funded, for the greater good, while all the technology is kept public, blueprints and everything.
      As we have seen so far, spaceX doesn't even need competition, their development process is so fast and so good that blue origin can't even keep up

      The industry will do fine with space X alone. They innovate faster than anyone else. No one is even close to them. And there is no competition for them, but that doesn’t mean they will stop.

      @Mellow987865 I don't question this as long as Elon koops doing what he's doing. But he won't be around for ever. For the industry at large to succeed there needs to be healthy competition for as long as possible.

      I totally agree with you, this is an amazing rocket and I don't understand why the spacex fanboys hate so much on Blue Origin. They are doing so many cool things and I wish Blue Origin nothing but success. Time will tell, but ultimately I think New Glenn and the Blue Origin lunar lander are much safer option than starship. I also wish starship success, but I think it should just be used for payload and not humans.

      I wish best luck, too.
      For now Starship seams be much further in development. Will Blue Origion not have to fail as often as Space X?
      Or don‘t they use rapid prototyping and more the miracolous Nasa approach almost working the first time.
      I never get my head around how to build a rocket, that can land again and it works for the first time.

    Blue Origin laid off all their contract workers on December 31st. Even though the project was not complete and those workers still had time on their contract. In my humble opinion, I believe this is one of the main reasons they can get New Glenn off the floor. Some employees working on New Glenn were most around the company as well. It was a bad business decision focused on saving and not in the impact it would have.

    A word of advice for your next launch broadcast. Stop trying to pretend that SpaceX doesn’t exist and hasn’t been landing and reusing boosters for 10 years. It makes you all look ridiculous. You can still say uplifting and positive things about Blue Origin, while still acknowledging your competition’s accomplishments.‬
    ‪You can even make it vague, with a friendly jab.. Just say something like “We’ll be attempting to land our first booster, so we can start giving our friends next door some serious competition.” It would make you all look and sound SO much cooler!‬

      Overall agree, but strictly Blue Origin have been landing rocket boosters for longer than SpaceX. "Just" that this is a booster from their first orbital rocket. I also thought we should hear more of the mission control chatter and less fluff. I had to step away when we had the piece about where Cape Canaveral is (spoiler: it's in Florida! who knew?!)🤦 Also, let us know about the count down resets - we can see them happen. No one is going to lose it if we know they're due to an icy purge line. People are going to be OK if you tell us unlikely to launch now but we'll keep cycling.

      @ Agree with the horrible commentary on the live stream and the continuous clock resets with no explanation. That was handled poorly.
      As for Blue Origin’s “booster” landings, I think it would be better described as the first stage of an amusement ride. They landed ONE sub-orbital New Shepard first stage before SpaceX landed their first Falcon 9. And since then SpaceX has landed over 390 orbital class boosters.
      I have no doubt that New Glenn will be awesome and accomplish great things. I just wish they would stop acting like we’re in some parallel universe where SpaceX doesn’t exist.

    Interesting... seems like New Glenn stages quite a bit higher than a reusable Falcon 9, around ~110km vs ~65km for F9. That does not necessarily mean a proportional increase in speed but since the booster burn time is only ~20% longer for NG than F9 it does seem like it would be going quite a bit faster as well (vs 8000 km/h for F9). That said, I guess it's possible that a longer entry burn would be sufficient to take the speed down enough to make the atmospheric heating manageable and comparable to F9.
    Best of luck with the next launch attempt.

      they all develop it on their own. based on the same principles.. but with their own engines, hardware and software.

    • @yaxleader
      @yaxleader 13 днів тому +1

      Completely on their own. They used several small "hoppers" in the early 2000s and then New Shepard to test out their landing and navigation software. They then took their time refining it over dozens of New Shepard launches before adapting it to New Glenn. They started this before SpaceX even flew the Falcon-1. BO is taking the slower, more methodical approach to reusability.

    • @gblawrence034

    • @shekharkummari
      @shekharkummari 13 днів тому

      @TonyChan-eh3nz good to know because space flight is expensive, so in order to achieve some cost benefits the people in the space industry have to achieve some sustainable practices like re usability of the vehicles and other components, otherwise there will be maximum damage for our ecological balance ⚖️ innovative solutions for protecting the environment at the same time achieving the technological advancements are big challenges.
