Hey prepmedic im a volunteer Firefighter vom Germany and we use the canopener you show on the axe to cut front windows of cars. You can punch a hole in it an use it like you do in a sheetmetal. Works great spezialy on newer cars which sometimes have realy massiv windows. So sorry for my bad english and great vid 👍🏻

Have you ever heard of a company like Paratech? They make a Pry Axe that offers the same and much more for around $450.00 U.S. and for the money they put Winkler to shame. Must be why so many firefighters and LEO's carry them in their trunks. Like I said. I absolutely can not find a way to justify the way overpriced Winkler products. They are great but not so great when you hear the price. I think I would rather many other tools over these . Sorry to Winkler and his Hollywood prices.

Thanks for the review. I carry a Dynamis Alliance blade every day at work (Paramedic) that is also made by Winkler. It's a fantastic tool and it's a pleasure to edc.

The WK series starts at $600.00 and head far north of that. Still prefer the Ontario SPAX 16 which does most of these things for $80.00 .. Heck look at Hogue and SIG as well as many others that are in the $200.00 .

The tools (edit: specially the axe) are really impressive, very solid (outstanding steel) and well designed. If I had plenty of money I'd like to have that axe... However, in my country I can buy very similar tools for approximately 110 bucks. They are also solid and, for something that will be there just to rescue my family in an emergency, they seem to be good enough.

5.11 got an operator axe which has similar features but is way cheaper and more compact too. Got no real expirience in the field with it though.

$650 is too much for me, but good on them for finding a market. An Estwing campers axe and some paracord is less than $50.

Thanks for this video post. Always nice to see someone Expanding the Choices for Emergency Responders, professional or otherwise.
No matter how beefy you might be from your training and workouts, the problem with ALL of these smaller "hatchet" sized axes is they simply do not provide the "Moment ARM" Leverage of a larger axe with a yard-long handle.
*Sturdiness is a Must. The ability to Take and Hold an Edge is a MUST. And having a Sharp Pointy Extension opposite the Primary Edge is a MUST.* The Advantages of Mr. Winkler's desing seem to be (1) the Bulk/MASS of a good Solid Chunk of Steel, and (2) the smaller size and the "Can-Opener" offer tremendous advantage for Cramped Spaces where it's your strength and leverage in a small space that would not allow you to swing for impact. Love the heft of that 3/8" breadth. Seems like this would provide reasonable resistance to unwanted changes in the shape of the tool from pounding, even with cut-outs for "skelotinizing."
Otherwise for any tool in this size range you're sacrificing Leverage and limiting the force you can extract from swinging in exchange for convenience. It would be a real service to show a "real world" demonstration comparison of various axes used against, Say, A junked Car. Because That seems to be the real test, unless you're taking one of these into the woods to hew trees for your cabin and carve little wood Elves and critters.
I have a couple of Ontario Spaxes (NOT the Wyvern) and No matter how sharp they are, ya Can't Use 'em to chop effectively. (I had homes with a fireplace & wood stove & had to chop & split a fair amount of wood. Used a regular ax.) I haven't used them on car crashes, happily. I suppose I should bulk up, but my life for the last 15 years has been teaching and taking care of a disabled sibling. So all my first-responder training is good for managing injuries, not Dismantling crashed vehicles by hand.

If you are going to force a real door a halligan tool is where it’s at. I know it is heavy, but it is versatile and it gets the job done. Even the lighter weight officers tool or A tool is a PITA to get real work done.

Hey, I don’t know what your camera setup looks like, but if you’re able to, you may want to move you computer/papers (whatever you use to list info) infront of you, below the camera. This way you wont have to look so far away from the camera. Love your content, but just thought you might like the advice :)

Can you do a video of just a few most basic medications a typical civilian can carry (may be with their EDC) and explain how to use them? Stuff like aspirin and disinfectants can be very useful but also harmful if used wrongly.

Great stuff. But most medics or normal duty personnel can not afford them. And I have to wonder why someone would pay that much to get something that really isn't superior enough over many other products in the professional line of tools. Take the well known SPAX 16 . How to justify the price of a Winkler when the quality and build is really only slightly higher. I can assure you it isn't good enough to add several hundred of dollars to the price tag. If you need to breach a door or cut your way out if fuselage there are plenty of tools out there that do these jobs extremely well and for far far less money.
Sometimes I just can not see where someone can justify the difference even with 25% off.

First aider* medic is a protected title in the UK. Please be very very careful about saying it willy nilly. Medic in UK is usually defined as someone who has done FREC 3 or FPOS-I which to my knowledge SJA dont offer.
