I need a love button for this. Watching that dye just go where it needed to, like water or tree branches, is so organic and beautiful! And the end result? Magnifico!
Have you felted something before? My only rule is move it as minimally as possible while it's hot. It is extremely rare for me to get real felting. Once in a while, I get a little of of compacting on the tips.
Thank you Trish for the wonderful colours, I can now dye and spin again after waiting 3 months for my equipment to arrive so with those bright warm flash of colours in mind I can create again.
I found your channel a month ago and just love all your content!!! I get the PF mystery boxes too so it's so fun to see what you do with it every month, I really love that! The whole dying process is fun to watch and the colors you come up with always amaze me.
Hi Trish hope you and John are well. Love this dyeing video. It was so nice to see you both dying together again. Love all the different colourways and techniques you used and especially the PF ones. Can't wait to see how that spins up. The colours looked like the sin setting against a stormy sky Thankyou for sharing this video. Take care and stay safe. Love to you both. Jen xx 💖😘
Amazing dyeing! What fantastic results - you must be so thrilled! I’m about to start dyeing some yarn I’ve spun up specially…😬You always inspire me to try stuff🙏
Hi Trish! I have to say I really admired how precisely John sprinkled the dye on the fiber, he did it so perfectly! And the colors for all of them are just lovely! I am curious though, how do you decide on which technique to use? And do you have to use different types of dyes for the various techniques? Did you heat set all of them? Including the ice-dyed fiber? Sorry for all the questions but watching you dye all that fiber is so fascinating and I keep wishing I had enough time to spin and weave every single one of them!
Gosh, don't apologize for all the questions! I will add them all to Tuesday's QnA. I use the same dyes for all the techniques. If the fiber was different, I would have to use different dyes.
To stop my squeeze bottles from leaking dye I wrap plumbers pipe tape around the bottle's threads. It stays on through several uses but peels off easily when you want it to.
Great colors Trish. I am hoping this winter I can try dying. My spinning foray was a bust, and it's REALLY HARD!! I get the mechanics of it and just need practice. I am hoping the fiber store will find someone to show me.
Your videos are beautiful and so full of stuff to learn! *I miss you telling which dye colors you use. Knowing their names helps understand how they will behave in the process- both by how they mix with others, and whether they are a really slow strike. *Loved the method you used on the paradise! * I’m sure your dyed fiber drafts beautifully since you seem to be in the “no touching” method. Do you find sections of white inside? How to avoid a dark “shell” of color on outside?
I will probably add colors again. There were just so so many in this video. I had to cut it down already. And I do occasionally get small amount of lighter color and white. I like them because they add heathery colors to my spinning, so I don't try to avoid them. If you don't want them, you can sort of spread open the top before you as color and/or heat.
@@FiberLoveDiary Yes, I agree- having a certain amount of white inside really adds variety and depth to the final yarn! My problem (as new dyer) is that there is a fine line between moving/spreading fiber to allow penetration, and a sort of very very mild clinging/felting on the outermost edges, causing enough micro neps to be noticible in a finer yarn, but not in thicker spins.
All of those colors are incredible. 😍 I dyed my PF fiber too, but I’m not happy with the colors, so after I spin it, I’m going to overdye the finished skein. Isn’t this month’s fiber wonderful? I’m looking forward to seeing yours spun up!
@@FiberLoveDiary Eh, it’s my own fault! I didn’t test anything, just went by the color on the dye labels, guess amounts, generally winging it. 😆 That’s ok, it’s another step on my success journey!
I love that John helped out with the dying and made his own colourway! The technique you used for the PF merino/silk blend is very cool. I'm going to give it a try :-) Your dye jars are humungous lol. Thanks for the great dying video!
Ahhhh those colors! How in the world does your fiber dry overnight? When I dye it seems to take a few days. Gorgeous and thank you for such clear demonstrations, Trish 😊 Suzette
Thanks so much for sharing - so inspirational! I tried ice dying after watching your video and I'm hooked by the color bug now, lol! When steaming in pans like you were doing here, does that generate a lot of smell? Just wondering how much ventilation will be needed once I move my dying inside. Thanks! :)
so much info in this video, my fear in dying my light color rovings is that it will, (words - not completely felt) matte (?) and be harder to spin. I found that a problem in a braid my son bought for me. Anything to make that not happen during the dying process or just something that can happen anyway?
Do not move it while it's hot, like not at all if you are afraid of felting or matting. I set it aside to cool to room temperature and even try to match my rinse temp as much as I can. Patience is the best advice. It's so hard sometimes not to rinse it right away!
That last color looks like fire/phoenix! So pretty. 😍
I thought of fire too
Love how Luther comes up for the reveal. Beautiful colors!!!
He is my shadow 😂
I don’t know how any of that yarn or fiber gets sold I would hoard it all. So inspiring Trish. Thanks
I need a love button for this. Watching that dye just go where it needed to, like water or tree branches, is so organic and beautiful! And the end result? Magnifico!
Watching you dye is so relaxing. I get so stressed about felting the wool.
Have you felted something before? My only rule is move it as minimally as possible while it's hot. It is extremely rare for me to get real felting. Once in a while, I get a little of of compacting on the tips.
They all came out so beautiful! I especially like the pinks and oranges together, such a happy colour combo
Thanks! That one is a second try with those colors. I liked the first time so much.
Beautiful colors! The silk did not seem to stand out from the merino, that I could see. You are an artist!
You would have to see it pretty closely to see the variation. I will make sure I get up closer during the spinning video.
I love all these colorways, they are amazing! And I always love seeing John participating in the videos, he has a great eye for color and pattern too!
He does have an amazing eye for color He's drawn to really interesting combinations.
Thank you Trish for the wonderful colours, I can now dye and spin again after waiting 3 months for my equipment to arrive so with those bright warm flash of colours in mind I can create again.
I'm so glad you are free to spin again! And glad you feel inspired!
I found your channel a month ago and just love all your content!!! I get the PF mystery boxes too so it's so fun to see what you do with it every month, I really love that! The whole dying process is fun to watch and the colors you come up with always amaze me.
Welcome, and thank you so much, Amy! I love picking colors!
I don't dye and I have no intention of doing it but watching you dye is so relaxing and fun.
Love the colour of the yarn after dying 🧶❤️🧶

I can't wait to get to it either! 😘😘😘
I love that John is involved in the process. So fun to watch.
He loves color and he has been dyeing occasionally since I started more than 10 years ago. It's always fun!
Love your fibers draped over the banister!! I do the same thing, it’s the first thing when you walk into our home; constantly changing art.
I never thought of it as changing art, but it is!
Loving ALL the colours. Luther just had to get in the video. I like that John is supportive of your art, he did an awesome job as well.
If I'm pointing the camera, Luther is trying to get air time 🤣. John is the best!
Beautiful dying, love the fibers and the yarns. Blessings
Amazing dyeing! What fantastic results - you must be so thrilled! I’m about to start dyeing some yarn I’ve spun up specially…😬You always inspire me to try stuff🙏
I really am thrilled, and I can't wait to do more!
Fun to watch! Beautiful colors.💖
Loving these fall colors! Thank you for the dying video.

Just beautiful Trish!! Makes me want to try!! Soon….thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.. it motivates me to keep going!!❤️
So much fun to watch
So fun to watch! Colours bright and happy too 😊
Thanks. It was fun for me too!
Love the colors !
I love all the colorways, thanks for sharing with us!
Thanks for watching!
Just gorgeous !!! Giving me the dyeing bug again.
Go go go!!
Gorgeous!, ive been in a dyeing streak like I never had before (with fiber). Can’t stop!
I am too. I feel so inspired lately.
Love the colours, can’t wait to see when it’s spun.
Most of it will be sold, but I will film the PF spinning!
LOVE that warm colorway!!! I hope you film the spin😁
I hope to too, but haven't started it yet!
To stop my squeeze bottles from leaking dye I wrap plumbers pipe tape around the bottle's threads. It stays on through several uses but peels off easily when you want it to.
Thanks for the tip. I usually just embrace it. There are only one or two that leak, but I will try it next time I want to make sure they don't.
Your color choices look so good together! Can’t wait to see this spun up!
Thank you! I used to think it didn't matter what colors I picked, that they all looked good together, but now I know that's not true 😂😂
Lovely. It is great seeing the yarn being dyed.
I look forward to having my own placeso I can dye again. Your fiber and yarns are fantabulous!
Well, good luck and thank you!
Loving all of those! Looked like loads of fun.
It's like to do it all again tomorrow 🤣🤣
I love watching your dye videos. Those turned out gorgeous! 🙌🏼😃
Thanks! I had so much fun!
This looks like so much fun!! I'm loving those colors!
Thank you!
Gahhhh 😍 The colors!!
I feel the same way!! 🤣🤣
Absolutely beautiful, love them all!
Thanks so much 😊
So cool, I have yet to dye my fiber. Love this method with the dry dye
I'm loving it too. I'll be using all the dry dye methods much more often
I have lots of fiber to dye. I’m going to check my dye colors and get started!
Have a great time!
Fun to watch you guys! So relaxing 😌
😊 thank you
I am digging on John’s method. And so surprised it didn’t have grey ! All the yarns and wool are lovely
He likes color color color!
@@FiberLoveDiary my little monitor made the dyes look gold and grey.....
I really enjoy the dyeing videos, keep up the good work.
I have so much fun. If I could get rid of them, I would dye every day 😂😂
Very cool. I'm going to try that last technique!
I am so inspired with this technique too. It makes me want to try everything all over again!
Oh wow! gorgeous colors!!
Thank you!

It was very hard for me at first too. It's a lot of persistence and muscle memory. I'm sure you'll get there if you keep going!
Looks like so much fun.
It is!
Gorgeous! I’m keeping an eye on your shop for sure!
It's all there, or at my LYS. There's an email in the description if you fall in love!
Love your colorways and their creative names!
That technique is so cool
Thank you!
I love the colors you used!
Thank you! So much fun!
This was so fun to watch!
Thank you!
This is mesmerizing 😊
It's so much fun!
So inspiring. I want to drag out all my dye stuff!!
very nice, looking forward to how these spin up.
Most of it will be sold!
are you putting some of it in your etsy shop?
Some of it is there already. The rest will be sold at my LYS. Their email is in the description if you've fallen in love. They're great!
Love, love these!
Thanks!
This was so soothing to watch thank you :)
That was amazing 😊

Wow, these look lovely 🥰. I received my PF kit yesterday 🤣I went back and watched to see what you got
Ooo what color did you get?
@@FiberLoveDiary I got storm🥰
I really enjoyed this video. Getting me excited to do this soon.
Since I herniated a disc in my back I’ve been hanging my fibre on my rowing machine. It takes up enough space, I aught to do something with it!
Hey if I had one, if probably hang fiber on it too! 🤣🤪
Beautiful! I just checked out your ETSY shop. I may need to buy something from you soon. 🥰

I bought after destash a year ago and I probably have a lifetime supply.
These turned out so lovely!
Thank you! I had fun with them.
I got a folding clothes rack with hangers for hanging my fiber on to dry. That or I throw it over the faucet in the shower :P
I used to do the shower but our railing works great.
I love colors. I noticed I use to much water in my dying
It really depends the most on what result you want. Sometimes I use a lot.
You have such an eye for color. (Gerry Ivkovich)
Ahhhh those colors! How in the world does your fiber dry overnight? When I dye it seems to take a few days. Gorgeous and thank you for such clear demonstrations, Trish 😊 Suzette
After it's completely cooked and rinsed, I roll it in a towel for an hour or so. The towel sucks a lot of water out.
@@FiberLoveDiary thanks.. I’ll try that

If you use vinegar, you will smell it, but I don't think it's too bad.
This has probably been answered. What kind of dyes do you use for ice dying?
The type of dye I use depends on the fiber I'm dyeing, so for protein fibers (animal fibers) I always use acid dyes.
Nice 💚
Guess I need more dye colors. Oh bummer!! 🤣😂
That song never ends! 🤣🤣
@@FiberLoveDiary don’t you know it. Life is tough. 😂
You're an incredible dyer. Beautiful colors may I ask you how much citric acid you use per ounce of fiber?
I love watching your dying! I want to try dying but I like to lurk in the shadows and watch first. 😂
You'll wish you went for it sooner once you start!
Really wanting to try dyeing some fibre. What would you suggest for a first try?

Do you have "recipes" and make repeatable colorways or is every dye unique?
