My beats sounded worse on mpc than on pc because I was lacking all the crutches. Limiting yourself to the mpc forces you to become better at mixing and an all around better beat maker. It’s nice to go back to the creativity and what originally made music fun to create.

Iv been trying to do slides on the circuit rhythm but it can't be done so build a normal 808 bassline then I sample in a slide note and play it in melodicly at the part I want it using gate so I can have some notes play longer then others ...it works pretty well so that's always an option too ..won't sound as good as properly using it with portamento on but it definitely has the same feel ...

Hey Jay I know this might be a dumb question but what does the difference means with the yellow and red pads?
red are the octaves and yellow just the notes in the scale

This is only possible with keygroups, not the drum program, right? I have the unison kit however I don’t believe they’re keygroups in the kit I got.
im not sure i understand but any sample inside the unison drumkit can be assign to a keygroup just like any other drumkit
@@JaeFreshmen ok… that’s the part I’m trying to get a grip on. How do you bring in samples as a keygroup? I’m coming from the MPC2000 (way back in the day) and starting up again, so I’m not all the way familiar with the advancements in bringing things in the newer MPCs.
@@JaeFreshmen to add a little more info… basically what I did with the unison beat maker kit was convert each folder (808s, kicks, loops, etc) into its own folder expansion with the expansion maker app I got with the MPC software. Idk if that paints a better picture but I wanted to add, in case it does.
@@DannyBeigal it will be the same way you add in drums to your drum program by loading it in from the browser but instead of it being on drum program it will be on keygroup like at the beginning of the video

Great video. I did a video on how to get the slides for drill style 808s. I did on the Akai force, which I use, but you can use it on the Mpc because they use the same setting. Check it out.

An 808 is an 808, the DAW you use doesn’t make it any different or unique
I gotta disagree. Ive seen some people do slides that they cant do on the mpc and vice versa. It took me a while to learn how to actually slide but now I got it down
It sound much, much worse than FL slides. It doesn't fit to UK Drill
idk it sounds alright to me but then again this is a genre that i rarely care to make but just wanted to show the function n im pretty sure you can still receive a good sound if you get creative
@@JaeFreshmen I love my mpc but when it comes to uk drill akai is not up to it. The slides don't sound right.
@@mikoajczeski1272 other solution is to use 808 slides loop and chop it up
If you can’t make the slides work, you either got the wrong sounds or the wrong settings. User error does not make it a machine error

Take any bassline from a famous UK Drill track and try to play it on mpc. Show how you did it and we'll talk about the effects :)
