    Think this is the best one ive seen yet. Ive been considering doing the jackshaft dance myself, only using hub gears. Yours seems pretty reliable.

      Howzit, thanks for the comment. I get you but there's nothing bad about this jackshaft kit. Any issues people have are to do with poor quality chains and components and/or improper installation. It does obviously reduce a bit of power at the rear wheel due to efficiency/resistance, but the torque improvement way outways any power loss in terms of general use and functionality. Okes without jackshaft kits must all ride on flat surfaces all day. The improvement is actually radical. Its a completely different bike compared to one without a jackshaft.

    So thats 55mph, and I'm from Texas, USA and you did a good job! That's a good speed for that engine. I heard jackshafts don't really give a higher top end, but I'd say they do after watching you as even with a 36tooth rear without the jackshaft I'd say 45 is pretty much top end. Again a quality build and you got it dialed in well! Also there will be a bunch of keyboard warriors telling you how if you do this and that, or you shoulda done this and then it would be better, but in reality they are waiting on their Mom to get them a new tube for their trycycle and that's the only bike they own.

    • @MotorizedBicycle1
      @MotorizedBicycle1  9 місяців тому +2

      Haha thanks bud. Ja they jackshaft will definitely introduce some power losses. Resistance from the extra moving parts. But the massive gain in torque in my opinion far outweighs any losses. In a real life scenario gears make a bike infinitely more usable. Id leave even more heavily moded bikes behind in a race around town with hills and traffic etc. Obviously a flat race track is a different story but thats not what i built for.

    • @MotorizedBicycle1
      @MotorizedBicycle1  6 місяців тому

      If you use quality parts and everything is installed correctly with the correct tension and alignment then you shouldn't have a problem. I have only ever snapped the main/primary drive chain which is the biggest chain which connects to the motor itself. The Chinese chains are terrible quality. I upgraded with a high quality industrial chain and it hasn't even shown any wear or stretch. The other chains ive used on the rest of the drives are expensive sram and kmc ebike chains. Much stronger than a standard bicycle chain. These parts are not cheap however. This bike was not made as a cheap form of transport, its a hobby and all about having fun. The cheapest form of transport in terms of running cost's is still a cheap chinese scooter, but a reliable brand such as Sym etc. Parts are cheap and they hardly need maintenance and they are very fuel efficient. I could be biased as I didnt really spare money building this motorized bicycle. The Ricthey bicycle frame itself if bought new costs almost twice the price of a new Sym 125cc scooter.

    • @MotorizedBicycle1
      @MotorizedBicycle1  4 місяці тому

      Its a sram 10 speed cassette but i locked the derailleur limit so it only goes to 9th gear. If i buy a new cassette and derailleur one day i might try an 8 speed. Its nice to have many ratios because i can always find the correct gear to help the little motor, but the downside is that there are so many gears to go through when i need to change fast... though my gear selector can skip through 3 gears at once depending how i push it.

      Washers and spacers are different for each bike build. You have to do whatever is necessary to align and true the sprockets and chains. What do you mean when you say it's twisted? What's twisted? And what 2 plates are you speaking about?

      @MotorizedBicycle1  27 днів тому

      Ok is see. That wobble is ok. It wont cause the chain to come off as long and the sprockets are aligned roughly in the centre of that movement. That wobble is movement in your freewheel bearing. Mine is exactly the same. You can fix that with a very expensive double bearing but its not necessary. What's more important is the chain tension. The motor must also not move and flex in the frame else it creates more slack in the chain as well. A new chain must be stretched in with use and then tension must be adjusted again. What helps a little more is a chain tensions like i have but its also not necessary if you tension the chain correctly and have strong motor mounts.

    • @MotorizedBicycle1
      @MotorizedBicycle1  27 днів тому

      Do you have a sickbikeparts kit? I think the cheaper Chinese made kits aren't as good. Your kit may be giving you problems and may need improvement. I only know the sickbikeparts kits but have heard of people struggling with the cheaper Chinese kits. But nothing is impossible to fix. Maybe your freewheel bearing does have some worse wobble than mine as well as your chain tension.l is wrong. And maybe your motor mounts and tensioning system needs improving. I have the standard heavy duty freewheel bearing from sickbikeparts. I purchased their extra heavy duty one too but never used it yet.

    That is so sad, dealing with the stink, the unbearable noise, and having to play in traffic. So unless you have tags, a license, and insurance, that little underperforming motorcycle isn't legal anywhere but off-road, where it would really show how lame it is.

      🤣 its a fun hobby to build these bikes. They are great fun. I have many other real motorcycles but this bicycle will always put a huge smile on my face every time I ride it.... and is legal in my country, so stop being a poephol.

    Why complicate things with this shifter and stress out that flimsy bike chain 😂

      Uhhh... gears, functionality, acceleration, hill climbing, torque... and its not complicated anyway, i loved every moment of building it. Also, i still haven't worn out the first chains and sprockets installed, ebike chains are very strong.
