  • Another very busy person whom i caught with was Johan Axelsson from FX Airguns. He kindly agreed to chat in this video about the new FX DRS range.
    He discusses the concept behind the rifle and explains how he actually came up with the idea for the rifle 2 years ago!
    I’m really looking forward to trying this one out for sure!

    I asked FX to do a airtank around barrel like 4-5 years ago, i think before i got my Maverick at launch of those.
    I hope FX also make a "tacti cool" version of the DRS, NOT ! the ultra expensive MDT stock, but something tacti cool and i would personally very much like a folding stock.
    Mind you i am not upping the price with like 50 - 100 % to get a tacti cool chassis, then i would go elsewhere and drop more money.

    Nice looking more traditional looking air rifle.

    The first FX I've really fancied the look of, one of the DRS Classics in a walnut stock. Never quite liked the Dreamline Classic but the new one looks absolutely stunning. The only improvement would be a handed stock, ambi stocks aren't quite as good.

    Whats missing here? anyone? A microphone so we can hear what this guys saying. You would think a company like FX would be tuned in on this wouldn't you?

    I believe Snowpeak / Artemis did or do an air round barrel rifle.

    • @davidpaylor5666

      They did and they were pretty good for a Chinese PCP. Bit rough around the edges but generally OK. Don't think it caught on.

    • @pliashmuldba
      @pliashmuldba 4 місяці тому

      They did, and a long time ago.
      I was not aware of it when i asked FX to do something like that, i was just thinking " with a big barrel shroud, why not have pressurised air inside it, instead of having a pipe below the barrel with air in it "

    • @lyndonlewington5553
      @lyndonlewington5553 4 місяці тому

      yes and it looks to be a flop , by fitting the cylinder around the barrel it affects the point of impact as the pressure in the cylinder changes.

    • @pliashmuldba
      @pliashmuldba 4 місяці тому

      @@lyndonlewington5553Why, the pressure drop are the same on all sides of the barrel, you could maybe have a "ping" pressure wave do something, but i am not sure.
      I would be surprised if FX make a new rifle with all that entail that is worse than what they already have at the same price range.

    • @davidpaylor5666

      @@lyndonlewington5553 If the cylinder walls were made out of old Coke cans maybe it might deflect under pressure but gradual pressure drop wouldn't affect the POI in a good quality cylinder. The stress in the barrel is in line with the axis of the barrel, so the cylinder will act as a tensioner, which will stabilise the POI.

    So no power wheel to control the hammer spring more of less set it for get it
    Would have liked a power wheel if your hunting outside in full power and then turned down in side

    • @pliashmuldba
      @pliashmuldba 4 місяці тому +2

      Power " wheel " in the back but you have to take off stock and it is in a screw dorm, so much like say a AGT vulcan rifle
      The regulator sadly you also have to take the stock off to reach, so the DRS Classic is for sure not a tweakers rifle, it is a bit sad it is this way even if i am working hard keeping my hands off suck knobs on my rifles.

      Cheers that’s the information I was looking for won’t be for me lovely gun but out on the fields 30 flb. Turn down the wheel to 12 it’s can’t do that not for me great review 👍 thanks for the reply

      @@AIRGUNMADUNREAL By power wheel i mean hammer spring adjustment.
      I am waiting right now for a micrometer adjustment screw for my Maverick, CUZ that wheel and not least the little steel click ball behind is driving me insane.
      That will be replaced by what is essential a micrometer for measuring depth in holes.
      The screw / cap you crew in and out to adjust hammer spring on my Vulcan 3 and i suppose these DRS, well there is no indicator so if you want to be presise you need a caliper to measure where the cap is in relation to the end of the housing.
      A bit annoying.
      I for sure prefer a tweaker rifle even if i am trying not to mess around too much, with my maverick i have tried to shoot just about everything .177 and really i have wasted many many hours at the bench just tweaking.
      I will leave it to just shoot 13 grain Zan slugs, which it do very well at 86 M
      Epic airguns Two also alluring to me, but whole other price range, hell almost 2 X more expensive.

    The big problem with FX air rifle here in the USA is not having a representative, if you need to repair it or even worse, buy any part, there is no where, they put the worst company as a representative now that it is Utah air gun, it does not serve well Customer service is horrible and there are no replacement parts. How can you buy something that when it breaks there is no way to fix it? is it a disposable rifle?

    • @pliashmuldba
      @pliashmuldba 4 місяці тому +1

      Well it is the same here ( Denmark ) last Winter my Maverick was in the shop over 3 months with a broken cocking lever, which should be fixable in 30 minutes MAX
      Additional going to a actual gun smith here, well like car mechanics ASO, their hourly price is probably 200 USD if not more.
      Of course that was " my " dealer, there are others selling FX rifles in Denmark.
      I am skilled enough myself, well at least enough to keep a ship sailing as a engineer, but i also understand brands not wanting PPl to wrench on everything they have to warranty.
      But then they should be vigilant and only accept retailers that can honor that, and of course in a timely manner too.

      @@grahamedwards9920 I think that is the problem, not much to do there, there is already all kinds of spring / power options ASO, so even harder to once again " re-invent the wheel " as we Danes say when you try to improve on something already good enough / as good as it ever going to be.

    • @grahamedwards9920

      @@pliashmuldba of course you’re right - I’m asking for someone to invent a springer that defies the laws of physics and if they did I suppose I’d be first in the queue to moan that it wasn’t a “proper” springer! 😄🤷‍♂️.

    FX stealing another design. Ever heard of Snow Peak?
    Then priced at $1000 US dollars. Dosen't even include a reg guage!
    Air Venturi Avenger is $349.00
    Don't be a sucker.
