I have the Smart roadster-coupe for 3 years now and it is my only car. I've done 50000km so far. I have driven from Belgium all the way to Greece and back to Germany, all over Italy and in many other places in Europe and it is great. No problem, it can go to China and it doesn't feel uncomfortable. The coupe can fit a large luggage with spare space in the front. Drawbacks are the lack of some power and the slow gearbox. But it is great on a sunny day and in roads with turns. More comfortable, practical and economical than a Lotus Elise and same fun to drive in lower speeds. A used one is totally recommended.
140km/p to 145km/p+/- , I own one too :) if you drive faster it will get really noisy. You don't have that much trouble with the wind.. it's low and quiete aerodynamic.. so you won't get pushed off the road that easily by strong wind. For the rest, just check on the oil every know and then and you should be fine. (if you buy one ALWAYS check if the roof is not leak.. because they always are, and if you fixed them for quiete a bit of money they will get leak in some months.. just don't fix that and deal with it
@@HonkiePlonkie Bit of a late reply but what kind of mpg do you get from it? Would love one, but if I was to get one it would be my only car so mpg need to be good enough :) Currently have a R53 Jcw
This is my kind of car. Clarkson said "you could out a stackful of King Edward's in there." That is in the coupe. The coupe is ideal for me, and it does have a convertible roof. About 15 seconds to remove it.
I got this car from a friend and holy shit! This car is VERY fast and it feeels like go cart and its super fun to drive. I went over speed limit almost jail time!
these cars are not slow trust me , they might have small engines but because they are so light and the engine is turbo charged they take off like a fucking rocket , ive driven many of these and they are really fun to drive like a cheap little sports car
i think it is a good all round car if your not the kind of person that goes out to shops and needs to carry bag on bags of food. if you know how to use even the most smallest of spaces then it can be a good car for a daily driver and hell they very cheap now
They chose the wrong buyer to interview. He is clearly not in the market for a 2 seater sports car and so this would be "impractical". I daily drive my MX5 and the Smart Roadster would be alot more practical with its excellent gas mileage and appearance and optional hard targa top.
Would you recommend this as a first car for someone? Im looking at buying my Roadster next year when i can get my licence because I've seen them for 3k pounds.
Blake Kirkham The only caveat I have heard is that they had some leaking problems from the front of the car. There is a fix and the one you buy might have already had it done. A Roadster is not really a good first car. It is a good sports/leisure/2nd car. You need something for the daily commute/bad weatjer and interior space to carry friends and items. Just my opinion. My other car is a Subaru Outback.
I owned a roadster when I was 17 and I kept it for two years. I recomed the coupe version and it's unbelievably fun, even compared to the Nissan GT-R I drove
Hello guys ! I'm looking for a city car, to potter about. Is the Roadster recommended ? I have already a big car, but it's abit big for city, and I want a 2nd car, strictly for city
You'd be fine with something electric : Nissan leaf and similar....if you're tight on budget : Ford Ka + and similar Second hand market however : Suzuki Swift is your best bet (old or new)
Tiago Costa The vivio Ceased production late 1998 , it's very hard to find one in good condition and low mileage...without adding the rarity of a supercharged one being the best engine bet.
lol you should step in my smart roadster (it's chipped to 110pk) 0 to 100 in 8 seconds on GPS. tested it 1000 times because i couldn't believe it, but it is!
My Smart roadster BRABUS EXCLUSİVE LIMITED EDITION 2006,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,101HP Silver. 24k millage's for sale from 2.nd owner in LONDON.
Actually transverse and tilted between the rear wheels. The petrol tank is between the driver compartment and the engine so would more likely be in the middle.
@@MrDAVO1234567 that's no the point, the point is you get a much higher perceived speed, rather than actually going fast. It's like a road legal go-kart

@@OzzyM1998 1 litre per 18 km . so 42mpg so out my head. it's a really lightweighted car and that is what's making it fast in acceleration.
Thank you!

I have just shit my britches.
0 to 60 in 12seconds.... very slow!!!
They’re slow bro
Great looking roaster. Thumbs up.

Buy a bundle of them, warehouse them and convert to electric in 2030. Sell for loads.

Lord Twaddle I've decided to lean towards the Porshe Boxster, because ive heard that the smart roadster has leakage problems
The boxer and most 10 year old convertible cars suffer from it. Besides a porsche will cost huge amounts to run and service
