    I had been making this move for ages, but it got coached out of me, and my ball striking hasn’t been the same since. I’m a 67 year old woman with various issues such as arthritis etc, I’m going to try and go back to this on the range tomorrow. Thank you.

    I’ve been interested in the golf swing and how it’s taught for 40 years.
    His ideas make so much sense.
    Very simple but very responsive.

      Me and you both Pete. Like the ‘big picture’ view of the swing instead of the “P2, 14% wrist cock”BS we see so much of on YT.

      Agree with you Jordan that the opening comments may have come across a little boastful. They were not meant to serve as anything more than an insight how "I" felt about my game. As it was my first lesson with Liam and only had an hour, I wanted to make sure he fully understood where I was at from a personal perspective. I went to him in the knowledge that I am not the best player I can be and need help in achieving a much higher floor as when its going well its great but when the game is not there, its pretty awful. Thanks for watching (even if only for a minute!) and hope you will come back soon.

    • @barrygolf
      @barrygolf  Місяць тому +1

      Cheers Simon. I know some of my initial comments to Liam may have been taken in the wrong way, but as you have rightly deduced, all I was doing was telling a coach a want to buy into how I really felt about my game.

    Literally got told the same thing by 2 people recently, that im leaning back and trying to get under the ball. Today at Sherwood Forest GC i did the opposite. Followed similar and got down on it nore with my left leg and hitting straighter and longer! Broke 100 for the first time in ages.

    • @barrygolf
      @barrygolf  Місяць тому

      Yes I kind of cringed a little bit watching it back but in my defence I have been reading quite a bit around positive affirmation (numerous Bob Rotella and "Be a Player" by Pia Neilson) and being modest is not conducive to a positive outlook. I know not very "English" of me but I am trying to be the best player i possibly can be.

    • @barrygolf
      @barrygolf  Місяць тому

      I am sure a few at the club will disagree with me Charles. Being a great ball striker is all for nothing if you keep shooting 80+! All i am trying to achieve is being the best possible player I can be. Where that leaves me, who knows. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching the video.

    The move forwards you do before hitting the ball, how much is it in terms of amount?

    • @barrygolf
      @barrygolf  Місяць тому +1

      What a great question. That I am trying to 'feel out' currently via the towel drill, the hitting the mat drill and hitting balls. I don't think its about how far you lean but moreover the general move into the ball and covering it correctly. A few times last night at the range, I did it incorrectly, moved left rather than in and shanked it miles right! Think they call that work in progress!!

    • @kfraser01
      @kfraser01 Місяць тому

      @@barrygolf Interesting, in the video it was quite clear that you were hitting the ball very straight once you implemented the tips from Liam. Where did you generally miss before going to Liam ?

    • @barrygolf
      @barrygolf  Місяць тому

      @@kfraser01another great question. My main miss was a spinny block right cut where I would either get the club stick behind me or I got a bit quick in transition and could not square the face up. What Liam has given me is the time and space to have the club in front of me and staying over the ball longer. This will help with not only face control but also getting more shaft lean for better connection

  • @mattbreese1
    @mattbreese1 Місяць тому +1

    The in movement, is that a lateral movement or is it a bit forward,so 10 o'clock position if 12 o'clock was you facing the ball?

    • @barrygolf
      @barrygolf  Місяць тому

      Hi Matt, really good question.
      So the feeling Liam was trying to give me was not lateral but more towards, as you said around 10 o’clock. That’s the reason for the step off to give you space to move back into.

  • @johnbrennan2636
    @johnbrennan2636 Місяць тому +1

    Hi, How does the 2nd part of the swing apply to driver and fairway woods, is it the same?

    • @peterscott1498
      @peterscott1498 Місяць тому +1

      Apparently it’s the same but you need your sternum to “get more off it”
      Liam states that on tour he would hit 1 deg down. I’m not sure what clubhead speed you would need to get away with this

    • @barrygolf
      @barrygolf  Місяць тому

      Not got that far John. Just been smashing away with the towel drill in the garden.
      But I saw in a vid he did with james Wiltshire, as Peter has said in the comments, he used to hit down on it with driver. But he also went onto say that was pretty common on tour.
